Adjustments
Please note that during storage and
transportation, especially at high ambient
temperature, some of the oil and grease used for
assembling may leak and stain the packaging.
This is in no way detrimental to the product,
wipe off the excessive oil/grease with a cloth.

Warning!
Before installing this product, read the Öhlins
Owner’s Manual. The shock absorber is an
important part of your vehicle and will affect the
stability.
Warning!
Before riding, always make sure that the
basic settings made by Öhlins are according
to recommended Set-up Data. Read about
adjustments and setting up in the Öhlins
Owner’s Manual before you make any
adjustments. Contact an Öhlins dealer if you
have any questions about setting up the shock
absorber.

How to install How to install
Warning!
It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer install the
shock absorber.
When installing, consult the Vehicle Service
Manual.

Put the motorcycle on a workstand so that
the rear wheel barely touches the ground.
Warning!
Make sure the vehicle is securely supported so
that it will not tip.

Remove the seat.

Remove the side covers.

Remove the screw on the triangle link, as
indicated in the gure. Remove the lower
attachment of the original shock absorber.

Remove the upper attachment of the original
shock absorber. Remove the original shock
absorber.

On the left side of the vehicle, just underneath
the seat, undo the harness clamp underneath
the harness.
Note!
Before installing the Öhlins shock absorber;
- clean the vehicle thoroughly
- adjust the length of the shock absorber (check
the headlight angle after adjusting the length!)

Install the Öhlins shock absorber. Note that
the ll screw is pointing towards the rear.

Lead the hydraulic preload adjuster up
between the metal brackets (a) and behind
the harness (b) out to the left side. Leave it
temporarily.

Install the upper and the lower attachments of
the Öhlins shock absorber. Do not tighten yet.

Reinstall the screws to the triangle link.
Note!
Lower the motorcycle so that the shock
absorber is sligthly compressed, before
tightening the screws.

Tighten the upper and lower attachment
screws, and the triangle link.

Remove the screw to the transmission belt
cover as indicated in the gure.

Install the bracket, provided in this kit, to
the hydraulic preload adjuster. Install the
hydraulic preload adjuster and bracket to the
transmission belt drive cover, use the spacer
and the screw (longer, M6x40mm) provided
in this kit.

Reinstall the harness clamp.

Reinstall side covers and seat. Make sure that
all removed parts are reinstalled in the same
way as they were before the installation of the
Öhlins shock absorber.
Caution!
Make sure that all screws are tightened to the
correct torque and that nothing fouls or restricts
movement of the shock absorber when the
suspension is fully compressed or extended.
