1 Battery and charging
1.1 When my phone is charging, why does the indicator
not blink for new messages or missed calls?
This is a normal phenomenon.
This is because when your phone is charging, the indicator prioritizes in indicating the
charging status, so it will not blink for notifications.
1.2 How do I preserve my phone's battery?
Use the charger that comes with your phone to charge the battery.
Don't use your phone when charging.
Charge the battery from time to time, which can increase its lifespan. Don't wait until the
battery level becomes low.
Use the battery from time to time. Otherwise, the battery power may be completely
drained, resulting in charging failures.
Don't place the battery in environments with low temperature, high temperature, or
significant temperature changes, because the battery lifespan may be shortened.
1.3 Why does it take a long time to charge my phone?
Check whether you are using the original charger. Charging your phone using a
non-standard small-load charger or computer USB port may limit the current and require
more time. It is recommended that you use the charger provided with your phone.
Check whether the data cable, charger, and socket are connected properly. If not,
reconnect them.
Check whether the data cable, charger, or socket is damaged. If so, replace them.
Check whether the charger plug and charging port are clean. Wipe any dust away using
alcohol or a brush. If you use alcohol, wait for it to dry before you charge your phone
again.
The charging time may be prolonged if you use your phone or turn on the screen when
charging. This is because your phone has to supply power to the screen, reducing the

charging current to the battery. Your phone has an overheat protection mechanism design.
The charging current is limited when your phone overheats so that your phone can be
held comfortably in your hand. This will prolong the charging time. It is recommended
that you not use your phone when it is charging, especially to watch videos or play
games.
Your phone has a special feature to guarantee your safety by slowing down the charging
speed when your phone battery is 80% or more full or almost fully charged until your
phone reaches a full charge.
If the problem persists, take your phone and the purchase invoice to an authorized
Huawei service center for repair.
1.4 Why does my phone repeatedly restart when connected
to a charger and powered on?
Check whether the charger is the one issued with the phone. Smaller capacity chargers or
computer USB connector have restrictions on current when charging. When the battery is
over-full there is insufficient current to start the phone, leading to repeated restarts. Try using
the charger issued with the phone.
If the battery power is completely drained, charge your phone for more than 10 minutes
before powering it on again.
If the problem persists after the steps detailed above, please back up important data and take
the receipt issued with your phone to an authorized Huawei service center for repair.
1.5 Why are there unusual power changes?
Restart your phone.
After backing up important data, restore factory settings.
If the problem persists after the steps detailed above, please back up important data and
take the receipt issued with your phone to an authorized Huawei service center for repair.
1.6 Why can't my phone charge properly?
Check that the data cable, charger, charging port, and plug connect properly. Try
unplugging and then plugging back in.
Check that the data cable, charger, charging port, and plug are not damaged. If they are
damaged, replace them.
Check whether the phone is overheated. Huawei smartphones are specially designed to
avoid overheating. When the phone becomes too hot, it will no longer charge. Avoid
power-intensive functions such as playing games, watching videos, or browsing the
Internet.
If the battery is completely out of power, connect the standard charger for 5 minutes and
then check whether the phone is working properly again.
If you use a power bank to charge your phone, please check whether the output current
matches that of the charger issued with the phone. If not, charging may fail.

If the problem persists after the steps detailed above, please back up important data and
take the receipt issued with your phone to an authorized Huawei service center for repair.
1.7 Why can't I charge my phone with a computer USB
port?
Check whether the indicator is on and whether your phone displays a USB connection
notification. If not, check whether the data cable has a poor connection or whether it is
damaged. It is recommended that you re-insert or replace the data cable.
If you are connecting to a desktop computer, connect the data cable to a rear USB port
on the computer.
If you are connecting to a laptop, connect the phone and computer with the data cable via
the USB port. Do not use a USB extension cable because the external USB sport may not
provide sufficient power.
If the problem persists after the steps detailed above, try using the charger issued with
the phone.
1.8 Can I use phone chargers made by other brands?
It is recommended that you use the charger issued with your phone.
If you need to use a non-Huawei charger:
Make sure you use chargers certified by an accepted authority. Please check the
certification on the label. Certified chargers are relatively safe.
Make sure the charger plug is identical with that of the charger issued with your phone.
Check whether the output current or voltage is consistent with or lower than that of the
charger issued with your phone. For details, refer to the instructions on the charger label.
The lower the output current or voltage is, the longer the charging time.
1.9 Does using the phone during charging affect the
battery life?
When the phone is charging, power is provided by the charger. Therefore, in theory there
should be no damage to battery life caused by use of the phone during charging.
However, we do not advise using the phone while it is charging because the phone is designed
to work off the battery. When charging, the phone's power supply is provided through the
charger. The large current may lead to instability and therefore use of the phone during this
time will cause the phone to heat up. We suggest you use the phone after it is fully charged.
We do not advise receiving or making calls while charging.

1.10 Why does my phone generate heat?
Normal heat generation:
It is normal that smartphones heat up as their performance improves. Generally, a smartphone
heats up relatively more in summer when the temperature is high and relatively less in other
seasons when the temperature is not so high.
The phone generates heat when it has been working for a long time.
Your phone is equipped with an advanced design balancing heat generation, power
consumption, and phone performance. Lab data shows that your phone has better heat
control performance than similar products.
The phone generates heat during standby.
Power-intensive applications or third-party manager applications often continuously take
up your phone's CPU power, which may also result in excessive heat and high power
consumption. It is recommended that you perform the following steps to see whether the
problem is resolved.
Open Phone Manager to check for power-intensive applications running in the
background and close the unneeded ones.
Restart your phone.
Back up your phone data to a microSD card or computer and restore your phone to
factory settings.
The phone generates heat when charging.
It is normal for your phone to generate heat during charging, especially if your phone
supports quick charging. The phone will generate more heat during quick charging than
normal charging.
If a phone supports quick charging, it is provided with a large-capacity battery and a 9
V/2 A high voltage quick charger, which shortens the charging time but generates more
heat. But please rest assured. All the improvements in the user experience of our phones
are built upon safety in use. Based on data from strict comparison lab tests, charging
with our 9 V/2 A high voltage quick charger does generate more heat than with a regular
5 V/2 A or 5 V/1 A charger, but with a much better heat control than most similar phones
in the market using 9 V/2 A charging.
When your phone is charging:
Do not use your phone for too long.
Place your phone in an environment with good heat dissipation, such as on a table.
Your phone may overheat more if it is placed in an environment with good heat
insulation, such as in a bed.
Power off your phone if it feels too hot. Wait for it to cool down, and then restore
the factory settings or update it to the latest software version.
The phone generates heat when you are surfing the Internet.
To reduce overheating:
Do not surf the Internet when the signal reception is poor. Otherwise, your phone
may overheat due to increased transmission power.
Use the native browser to surf the Internet.
If you are using a third-party browser, set it to no-picture browsing mode.
Avoid performing multiple operations at the same time, for example, listening to
music while surfing the Internet.
The phone generates heat when you are playing games.

Games consume more battery power than calls, videos, and music.
It is recommended that you don't play games while your phone is charging. Also you can
close all background applications when you are playing games or lower the volume level
to reduce the heat and increase your phone's battery life.
The phone generates heat when you are taking photos, shooting videos, or
recording your screen.
In order to take excellent quality photos, your phone is equipped with an SLR-level
image processing chip. The chip consumes a relatively high amount of power. As a
result, you will sense obvious heat generated by your phone after taking photos
non-stop for a long time. But with the overheating safety protection that we have
added to your phone, it will usually not generate excessive heat.
Recording your phone's screen puts an additional load on the phone's CPU, which
causes the phone to generate more heat than usual. This is a normal phenomenon.
When your phone exits recording mode, the temperature will gradually decrease to
a normal level.
The phone generates heat when you are watching videos.
Video players differ in power consumption due to the different codecs used. It is
recommended that you use the pre-installed gallery and video player on your phone
because they have been sufficiently optimized to consume less power and generate less
heat.
It is recommended that you not watch videos while your phone is charging.
The phone generates heat when you are using third-party applications.
Third-party applications, such as social networking applications, frequently require a
network. Voice services and videos consume a lot of battery power and generate heat.
For example:
To browse social networking applications, your phone needs to download lots of
data (images and videos) and connect to the Internet constantly, so it is normal for
your phone to generate heat. If you are in an area with poor network reception, your
phone will generate even more heat.
The reason that your phone generates heat when you are making video calls on a
social networking application is that this function consumes a large amount of
power, as your phone is shooting video, uploading and downloading data at the
same time.
We are already working with related application developers to optimize this issue.
Please update your system on time to receive the latest optimizations.
The phone generates heat when you are making video calls.
The reason that your phone generates heat when you are making video calls is that this
function consumes a large amount of power, as your phone is shooting video, uploading
and downloading data at the same time, so it is normal for your phone to generate more
heat when you are making video calls than when you are just watching videos or
listening to music. When you stop making video calls, your phone's temperature will
gradually decrease.
The phone generates heat when you are making calls.
The heat generated mainly depends on the signal. The heat generated by your phone
increases rapidly when the signal is poor.
It is recommended that you make calls with a headset in a place with strong signal
reception. To reduce the power consumption and heat generated by your phone, it is
recommended that you not keep your screen on for a long time during calls, or charge
your phone during calls.

The phone generates heat when you are using a navigation application.
Navigation applications consume a lot of your phone's power, so it is normal that your
phone is overheated. Your phone may overheat more easily in the following scenarios:
If you haven't downloaded an offline map to your phone, map data will keep being
downloaded during navigation and your phone will generate more heat.
If the signal is poor or unstable, the transmission power will be increased and your
phone will generate more heat.
If you use navigation while charging your phone, your phone will generate more
heat.
It is recommended that you not use your phone in a place with high temperatures or
directly in sunlight.
The phone generates heat when you are listening to songs.
It is normal if you feel that your phone is overheated when you are listening to songs.
Your phone's music playing quality has been improved and so more heat may be
generated while you're playing music. This is also normal.
It is recommended that you not play music through the speaker for a long time at a large
volume and not download music files or perform other operations while you are listening
to songs.
The phone generates heat when you are updating your phone.
To speed up the update process and save time, your phone's CPU runs at a high
frequency during updating, which causes your phone to generate a lot of heat. This is a
normal phenomenon. When the update is complete, the temperature of your phone will
gradually decrease to a normal level.
Problems caused by heat generation:
The volume is reduced.
Your phone speaker adopts a special protection mechanism which is triggered when the
temperature is too high and the volume is reduced. The volume will return to the original
level once the temperature returns to normal.
Check whether the volume returns to the original level after a while. If so, your phone is
functioning properly.
It takes a long time to charge your phone.
Huawei phones are all designed with a heat protection mechanism. When your phone
overheats, the charging current will be limited to make sure your phone still feels
comfortable in your hand. This will prolong the charging time. The charging current will
return to normal once your phone cools down.
To shorten the charging time, it is recommended that you use the charger issued with your
phone, turn off the screen, and close any background applications (such as video players and
games).
Abnormal heat generation:
If your phone suddenly generates excessive heat (at the center of your phone and the frame
near the power button) at a certain time, or if the phone becomes noticeably overheated when
you're running simple operations or not running any operations, and the battery life is
obviously shortened, this means some applications in your phone are consuming extra battery
power.
Recommendations for reducing excessive phone heat:

It is normal for your phone to generate heat when charging or when you are using
power-intensive functions or applications, such as playing games, surfing the Internet, making
phone calls etc. You may reduce excessive phone heat in the following ways:
Choose the appropriate power plan in Phone Manager.
Choose appropriate brightness and volume settings.
Reduce the screen brightness. If your screen is too bright, a lot of power will be
consumed and it may bother your eyes. Swipe down from the status bar and touch
Shortcuts. Drag the brightness slider to an appropriate position and turn on Auto.
When adjusting the volume level, remember that if the volume is too high your
phone will consume power quickly and the bottom on the back will get hot. Try
setting the volume to an average level or lower and don't keep your phone at a high
volume level for a long time.
Reduce the number of applications used at the same time.
The Android system supports running multiple applications at the same time. When
multiple applications are running at the same time, phone power usage and heat
increase. Please reduce the number of running applications and close applications
that aren't needed.
Conveniently clean up applications running in the background: To close
applications running in the background, touch and hold the bottom right icon in the
virtual navigation bar to show recently used applications. Swipe your finger up to
stop applications that do not need to run in the background.
Reduce the number of protected background applications. Go to Phone Manager
and close unneeded applications to prevent them from consuming power while
running in the background.
Check for power-intensive applications. Go to Phone Manager and close or
uninstall the unneeded applications.
1.11 When my phone is charging, why does my hand feel
numb when I touch my phone?
Check whether the charger cover is damaged. If so, electric leakage may have occurred.
In this case, stop using the charger and replace it with an original charger.
Check whether you are using a Huawei standard charger or the original charger that you
purchased from a Huawei store through official channels.
If you are using the original charger and your hand feels numb when you touch your
phone, this may be because a slight charge exchange has occurred between your body
and the environment, stimulating your nerves. This is similar to the electrostatic
phenomenon that may occur when you take off your sweater on a winter night. Check
whether your other chargers also have this problem for comparison.
Check whether your phone is connected to a normal household power supply for
charging.

1.12 What can I do if the USB cable gets overheated
Check whether water has entered the USB port, causing a short circuit. If so, shake the
water out, blow your phone dry with a fan, or keep your phone in a place with good
ventilation for 4 hours.
Check whether metal (such as a wire) has got inside the USB port, causing a short circuit.
If so, power off your phone and use tweezers to remove the metal, or take your phone
and the purchase invoice to an authorized Huawei service center for repair.
Check whether you are using the original charger and USB cable. Some data cables with
poor quality may cause short circuits and overheat. It is recommended that you use the
original charger and data cable for charging.
1.13 What can I do if water enters the charger?
If water enters the charger, do not use it. For your safety, it is recommended that you purchase
an original charger from an official Huawei website or authorized Huawei service center as
soon as possible.

2.1 Why is there a gap between the front and rear covers?
This is a normal phenomenon.
Due to process engineering and the thermal expansion and contraction of materials, it is
normal that there a small gap between the front and rear covers. All Huawei smartphones
undergo rigorous cosmetic inspection including checking for gaps before leaving the factory,
and ensure that they meet industry quality standards. If you think the gap is too large, try
inserting two sheets of A4 paper (0.2 mm thick in total) into the gap.If the paper can be
smoothly inserted into the gap, back up important data and take your phone and the purchase
invoice to an authorized Huawei service center to check for quality issues.
2.2 Why is there light leakage when the screen is turned
off?
This is a normal phenomenon and there are no quality issues with your phone.
Any smartphone may have this phenomenon where the screen appears white after the phone is
turned off. This is related to the luminance of the screen and does not indicate that the phone
is faulty. If you think that there is too much light leakage, back up your important data and
take your phone and the purchase invoice to an authorized Huawei service center to check for
quality issues.
2.3 Why is the camera off-center?
The camera functions are not affected even if the camera looks off-center.
The camera assembly of Huawei smartphones outperforms the industry standards (Huawei
standards: less than 0.25 mm; industry standards: less than 0.3 mm). Please rest assured.

2.4 Why does the back of my phone become loose when I
press it?
This is normal and will not affect the functions of your phone.
General smartphone batteries may slightly change in thickness with the battery level. To
ensure safe use of the battery, a safety gap is reserved between the battery and the rear cover.
Therefore, the rear cover may become loose or deformed when pressed. Huawei smartphones
are strictly tested before delivery.

3 System functions and settings
3.1 Can I set screen calibration?
The screen is a capacitive screen and does not require calibration.
3.2 Why does my phone not display a notification when
the unlock password I enter exceeds the specified length?
The system is designed this way.
Your phone will not display a notification even when the unlock password you enter exceeds
the specified length. This is because if a notification is shown, the password length will be
exposed and can be easily viewed by others. Numerical passwords with a fixed length are
easily cracked, posing security risks to your personal information.

4 Network and data sharing
4.1 Data services
4.1.1 Is the standby time longer with 4G than 3G?
No. The standby time is related mainly to the signal strength.
If there is a strong 4G signal then the phone will conserve more power than when using
3G.
If the signal strength is equal, 3G is more power-efficient than 4G. This is because 4G
uses a higher bandwidth and therefore uses up more power on standby.
4.1.2 When I touch SIM card applications, why does my phone
say there is no STK menu service?
The STK menu is supported by the SIM card. Currently 4G cards provided by certain carriers
do not provide STK menu services. This is not a malfunction of the phone. For details, please
consult your carrier.
4.1.3 After data services are turned off, why does the 3G icon still
show?
The 3G icon in the status bar does not indicate data services. It indicates the phone signal.
4.1.4 Why can't I access the 4G network?
Check that:
Your phone supports the 4G network.
If your phone is a customized version, you can only access the 4G network using the
SIM card issued by the corresponding carrier.
The SIM card is a 4G card.
You have activated the 4G data plan and the enabled the 4G network connection on your
phone.
The carrier provides local 4G network coverage.

4.1.5 Why is my phone displaying the 3G icon when I am using a
4G SIM card?
Check that you are using a 4G SIM card. If not, change your SIM card.
If the 4G signal is weak or there is no 4G coverage, your phone will automatically switch to a
3G network and display the 3G signal icon.
4.1.6 Does my 4G phone support 3G SIM cards?
Yes. Your phone supports 3G SIM cards issued by the same carrier.
4.1.7 Are 4G phones more data-intensive than 3G phones?
This is a misunderstanding.
Downloading from a 4G network is faster than 3G/2G network, but faster downloads do not
necessarily mean faster use of data. How much data is used depends on the user and is not
affected by the network or phone.
However, data is transmitted more quickly across 4G networks. If the phone is used in the
wrong way then it will use data very quickly. We recommend turning off mobile data services
when you do not require mobile network access.
4.1.8 Why does the 4G signal become unstable or disconnect from
the network when my phone is installed with a 2G or 3G SIM
card?
If the 4G signal is unstable and the network connection is interrupted in an area with 4G
coverage, this is because 4G services have not been activated on the SIM card. If your phone
supports 4G but does not have 4G services activated, the network will constantly remind your
phone to connect to 4G, but your phone will be rejected by the network, resulting in
disconnection from the network.
If 4G services have not been activated on your phone, it is recommended that you turn 4G off.
4.1.9 Why does my phone have an unstable signal or no signal?
Check whether your phone has a protective cover, in particular a metal protective cover.
If so, remove the metal protective cover and try again. Metal may interfere with the
signal and cause communication failures for your phone.
Check whether you are using a standard SIM card. A cut SIM card or card adapter may
not fit the card slot properly and cause a communication failure such as no network
service or a weak signal. If this is the case, it is recommended that you visit a service
counter and replace your SIM card with a standard one.
Update your phone to the latest version and check whether the signal improves.
Compare with other phones to check whether the signal strength is the same.
If the signal strength is the same on other phones, there may be a problem with the local
network coverage. It is recommended that you contact the carrier for consultation.
If the signal reception is apparently weaker than other phones and the problem persists
after the steps detailed above, please back up important data and take the receipt issued
with your phone to an authorized Huawei service center for repair.

4.1.10 How do I view my phone IMEI? Why are there two IMEIs
on my phone?
The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) is a unique number used to identify your
phone. To view your phone IMEI, dial *#06# on the dialer screen.
A single SIM card phone has only one IMEI, while a dual SIM card dual standby phone may
have two IMEIs.
4.1.11 How do I know whether my phone is using Wi-Fi or mobile
data?
Check the connection status in the status bar on the top of your phone's screen.
If there is a icon in the status bar, your phone is using Wi-Fi connection. If there is a
, , or icon with up and down arrows in the status bar, your phone
is using mobile data.
4.2 Wi-Fi
4.2.1 Why do network names of scanned hotspots appear as
gibberish?
If the hotspot name contains Chinese characters or special characters, it will appear as an
unreadable code on your phone. When setting up a hotspot, choose a name using roman
characters and numbers. Avoid using Chinese or special characters.
4.2.2 What can I do if the list of available Wi-Fi hotspots does not
update?
Restart the phone. If the problem persists, restore the phone to factory settings.
4.2.3 What can I do if, after I have entered the Wi-Fi password, the
confirm button is grayed out?
Make sure the password you have entered is correct. It is recommended that you select
the show password option.
Make sure the entered password is at least 8 digits long. If it is less than 8 digits, reset
the router password via WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK authentication, making sure the new
password is at least 8 digits long.
4.2.4 Why has my phone automatically switched to another Wi-Fi
hotspot?
When the current Wi-Fi network is weak or unstable, and there is a better Wi-Fi network that
you have connected your phone to before, your phone will automatically switch to the better
Wi-Fi network. If you do not want to connect to the hotspot, touch it, and then touch Forget.

4.2.5 What can I do if I can't get on to the Internet even when my
phone is connected to Wi-Fi?
If your phone is connected to a public network, check whether the network requires
website registration.
Check to make sure other phones are able to connect to the Internet. If they are not able,
this may indicate a network abnormality.
Connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot near the router or within the hotspot range. If you constantly
fail to connect to the Internet, restart your phone or router.
If the problem persists after the steps detailed above, please back up important data and take
the receipt issued with your phone to an authorized Huawei service center for repair.
4.2.6 What can I do if the Wi-Fi MAC address displays
"unavailable"?
1. The Wi-Fi MAC address can only be read when Wi-Fi is enabled. If Wi-Fi is turned off, the
MAC address cannot be obtained and the "unavailable" message will appear. To solve this
problem, enable Wi-Fi.
2. If Wi-Fi is enabled and the "unavailable" message still appears, restart you phone.
4.2.7 Why doesn't my phone connect to Wi-Fi when I am using
Bluetooth?
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi share the same antenna in your phone. When Bluetooth is taking up a lot
of the phone's resources, Wi-Fi performance can decrease or the connection can drop. Please
turn off the Bluetooth and try again.
4.2.8 Why is the Wi-Fi speed slow? Why is the Wi-Fi signal weak?
Connect to Wi-Fi located near a router. If your phone is too far away from the router or
there is a wall between your phone and the router, the signal may be weaker and the
network speed reduced.
Make sure the protective cover of your phone is plastic or leather rather than metal, as a
metal protective cover will block your phone's antenna signal.
Check the router specifications. If it supports 5 GHz Wi-Fi, place the router in a higher
position.
Check whether other devices with large data transmission are running, for example, a TV
box for watching TV programs or a laptop for downloading movies. It is recommended
that you distribute the network resources properly.
Use speed test software to test the Wi-Fi speed and bandwidth speed. If the two are
significantly different, it is recommended that you restart the router and try again.
