when you open the device. When the device is opened, hot steam can escape. You should
therefore keep your head and hands out of the danger zone. We also recommend using oven
cloths or kitchen gloves when you want to open the lid or remove the frying basket contain-
ing the food.
CAUTION: Danger of burns! If water gets into hot fat, the fat can spit. You should there-
fore make sure that no water or other liquids drip into the fat. Do not pour any wet food

Before Initial Use
CAUTION!
Keep children and animals away from the packaging material. There is a danger of suffocation!
1. Unpack the device and remove all lms and stickers that may be present. Check the items
supplied for completeness (see the "Items Supplied and Device Overview" chapter) and pos-
sible transport damage. If you nd transport damage, do not use the device (!), but contact
the customer service department immediately.
2. The device may contain production residues. To avoid harmful effects to your health, clean the
frying container and the frying basket thoroughly before using them for the rst time (see the
"Cleaning and Storage" chapter).
3. Please note that the frying basket handle can be locked
in two positions:
When it is delivered, the frying basket handle is in the
short locking position (1). To pull out the handle, press
the metal ends together and pull them out. Let go of
the metal parts so that the frying basket handle locks
in the pulled-out position (2).
When the frying basket handle is in the pulled-out
locking position (2), it can be inserted into the frying
basket in the manner described in the instructions.
IMPORTANT: The lid of the deep-fat fryer only closes correctly when the
frying basket handle has been pulled out. You should therefore always make
sure that the handle has been pulled out before you insert it into the deep-
fat fryer!
Use
CAUTION!
Danger of re! The device is very hot during and after operation! When setting up the
device, ensure that you select a location with enough clearance all around the device (at least
10 cm to the sides, 30 cm above it) to prevent any build-up of heat.
Danger of injury! Hot air comes out of the ventilation slots in the lid. Be careful when
touching the temperature controller or when opening the lid. Keep your head and hands out
of the danger zone when opening the lid.
Danger of burns! Always use oven gloves when you open the lid and insert the frying basket
into the frying container or remove it in order to prevent burns. Do not touch the device
with bare hands.
Never connect the device to the mains power when it is empty (without any oil / fat)!
Never operate the device unattended in order to prevent any personal injury, material dam-
age and damage to the device, e.g. caused by re.
1
2
21
Only ever use fats and oils which are suitable for high temperatures, i.e. for deep-frying. Do
not use cold-pressed oils or butter. Note the manufacturer's speci cations on the packaging.
Do not pour too much oil/fat into the deep fryer, do not exceed the MAX marking in the
frying container as this could cause the deep fryer to spill over and cause serious burns.
Do not operate the device without or with too little oil / fat. Fill the device at least up to the
MIN marking in the frying container. Check the level of oil / fat before each use.
Do not mix together different types of fat or oil as this could cause the deep fryer to spill
over!
If you use solid fat, it must be cut up into pieces and melted down separately in a separate
vessel at low temperatures and only then be poured slowly into the inner container.
Never melt a large block of solid fat in the frying container directly! If the fat has become
solid after it was last used in the frying container, poke holes in it using a fork and then warm
it up on the lowest temperature setting.
IMPORTANT: The lid of the deep-fat fryer only closes correctly when the frying
basket handle has been pulled out. You should therefore always make sure that
the handle has been pulled out before you insert it into the deep-fat fryer!
When preparing frozen food, lower the frying basket slowly and carefully into the hot fat so
that it does not bubble over. Keep a suf cient distance away from the device in order to avoid
burns caused by splashes of hot fat.
Do not place food in the device wrapped in cling lm or plastic bags.
Preparing Food
Cut the food into pieces of equal size so that they cook evenly. Avoid pieces which are too
thick.
Make sure that the food which is used is dry. This will prevent the fat splashing or bubbling
up unnecessarily.
Frozen food must be well shaken before being deep-fried in order to remove any loose
chunks of ice. Tip: Frozen chips will be crispier if you rinse them with cold water and then
carefully dry them before deep-frying them.
To make particularly crispy chips from fresh potatoes, do the following: rst wash the pota-
toes after peeling them under cold water in order to remove the starch in the potatoes. Then
dry the chips fully before you deep-fry them. This will make your chips extra crispy and stop
them sticking together when they are deep-fried.
Do not over ll the frying basket! An over lled frying basket lowers the temperature in the
device, which means that your food will absorb too much fat and not go crispy. If frozen food
is used, the quantity must be reduced.
Deep-Frying
• You will nd information about cooking times and cooking temperatures on the de-
vice. Please note that the stated temperatures and times are guideline gures. These
gures may vary depending on the quality and size of the food used and depending
on whether the food is raw or frozen.
The cooking times also depend on your personal taste of course: If you prefer your
food darker or lighter, softer or crispier, adapt the stated cooking times to re ect
your own personal taste.
22
When you deep-fry frozen food, follow the manufacturer's speci cations on the
packaging for details of the cooking temperatures and cooking times.
1. Place the device on a dry and heat-resistant, at surface a suf cient distance away from am-
mable objects, splashing water and heat sources. Make sure that the device is out of the reach
of children and animals.
2. Open up the lid. NOTE: The fondue ring must not be attached when deep-frying.
3. Pour approx. 0.75 l of oil or melted fat into the frying container. The quantity must not be
below the MIN marking or exceed the MAX marking in the frying container.
4. Close the lid.
5. Check whether the temperature controller is in the OFF position and insert the mains plug
into a properly installed 220 - 240 volt socket with earthing contacts.
6. Set the temperature controller to the desired temperature. (You will nd information about
cooking temperatures and cooking times on the device.) The control lamp lights up.
7. Allow the device to heat up until the control lamp goes out.
8. Insert the handle into the U-shaped holder on the frying basket:
Pull out the frying basket handle (see chapter "Prior to rst
use"), press the open ends of the handle together and rst place
them between the edge of the frying basket and the two hooks
of the holder and then into the lugs of the holder. When you let
go, the ends of the handle are locked in place. Check that the
handle ts securely!
9. Pour your food into the frying basket.
10. Open the lid of the device.
11. Insert the frying basket slowly into the frying container.
12. Close the lid. When you do so, direct the handle of the frying basket towards the two slots
in the lid so that the lid can be fully closed.
13. Allow the food to deep-fry. The information on cooking temperatures and cooking times on
the device is merely a guideline. We recommend that you open the lid at regular intervals and
check whether the food is cooked. Hold the handle of the frying basket rmly when
you open the lid.
NOTE: During operation, the control lamp may go out and then light up again. This means
that the device is heating up again in order to maintain a constant temperature.
14. When your food is cooked: Move the temperature controller to the OFF position and pull
the mains plug out of the plug socket.
15. Open the lid, lift up the frying basket and allow it to drip for
a short while. You can also place the frying basket into a bowl
lined with kitchen towel.
16. Serve the food.
17. Allow the fat/oil to cool down before you store away the device
or clean it (see the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter). Note the
information provided in the "After Use" section.
23
Fondue
You can also use the device for preparing fondue with oil.
1. Place the device on a dry and heat-resistant, at surface a suf cient distance away from am-
mable objects, splashing water and heat sources. Make sure that the device is not accessible
to children and animals.
2. Flip up the lid and place the fondue ring on the frying container.
3. Pour approx. 0.75 l of oil or melted fat into the frying container. The quantity must not be
below the MIN marking or exceed the MAX marking in the frying container.
4. Check whether the temperature controller is in the OFF position and insert the mains plug
into a properly installed 220 - 240 volt socket with earthing contacts.
5. Move the temperature controller to the highest temperature setting. The control lamp lights
up.
6. Allow the device to heat up until the control lamp goes out.
7. Now skewer vegetables or meat onto your fondue forks and
place them into the hot oil/fat until they are cooked. The fondue
ring contains notches for placing the fondue forks in.
After Use
You can store the oil or fat either in the device with the lid closed or in a separate container.
It can be reused approx. 8 to 12 times as long as it is clear, does not have an unpleasant odour
or does not foam when it is warmed up. Also note the best-before date. Do not leave it in
the deep fryer for longer than 2 weeks! To dispose of the oil / fat and clean the device, note
the information provided in the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter.
The small chunks which fall off the cooked food easily burn, make the oil / fat age more
quickly and present a re hazard. For this reason, the oil / fat should be ltered after deep-
frying. You may for example use a paper coffee lter to do this.
Cleaning and Storage
CAUTION!
Danger of burns from hot device parts and accessories! Allow the device and the ac-
cessories to cool down before any cleaning.
Danger of electric shock! Remove the mains plug from the mains socket before doing any
cleaning. Never immerse the device, mains cable or plug in water or other liquids. Never put
the device in the dishwasher.
Do not use any caustic or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the device. These can damage the
surface. Do not use any metal objects.
Never pour the used fat down the drain. Allow it to cool down and dispose of it in accord-
ance with the local provisions with the household waste.
24
1. Make sure that the device has completely COOLED DOWN and is switched off!
2. Remove the frying basket from the device.
3. Skim used fat / oil into a suitable container and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly
manner. Used cooking oils and cooking fats are not to be poured down the drain.
4. Wipe the frying container and the inside of the lid initially with some kitchen towel and then
with a warm damp cloth. Then dry them thoroughly using a dry kitchen towel.
5. Clean the frying basket, the fondue forks and the fondue ring with warm water and mild
detergent. Allow all parts to dry completely.
6. Store the device and accessories out of the reach of children and animals. Keep it in a dry
place which is protected from direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting
If the device should stop working properly, rst check whether you are able to correct the prob-
lem yourself. Otherwise you should contact the customer service department.
Do not attempt to repair a defective device yourself!
Problem Possible cause / solution
The device does not
work.
Is the mains plug correctly inserted into the socket?
Is the plug socket defective? Try another mains socket.
Check the fuse of your mains connection.
Have you set a cooking temperature?
The food has not
been cooked evenly.
Have you tried to deep-fry different foods or foods of different
sizes simultaneously? If you would like to deep-fry different foods,
make sure that the cooking times of the foods are similar!
Was the cooking time too short? Extend the cooking time!
The frying basket is over lled. Reduce the quantity of food!
You have made chips
from fresh potatoes.
The result is not
crispy.
Use waxy potatoes. Young potatoes contain more water and
therefore take longer to cook and it is possible that they may not
go as crispy.
The frying basket is too full, place fewer potatoes into the device.
The chips are cut too thick, cut them into thinner pieces.
25
Problem Possible cause / solution
The frying container
over ows.
The MAX marking in the frying container was exceeded. Remove
excess oil / fat.
The frying basket is over lled. Reduce the quantity of food!
The food for cooking is moist or contains too much water (for
example frozen food). Remove the ice and dry the food for cook-
ing before you lower the frying basket very slowly.
Mixture of different oils / fats. Dispose of the fat and then ll the
frying container with one single type of fat.
Unpleasant odours
occur.
The oil / fat is no longer fresh. Replace the frying bath (after no
more than 12 cycles).
The fat is unsuitable. Use vegetable fat to achieve a good frying
quality.
The food to be
cooked does not go
brown and crispy.
The frying basket is over lled. Reduce the quantity of food!
The food for cooking is moist or contains too much water (for
example frozen food). Remove the ice and dry the food for cook-
ing before you lower the frying basket very slowly.
Pieces of food are too thick or contain too much water. Try a long-
er cooking time. Cut the food to be cooked into smaller pieces.
Too great a quantity was deep-fried in one go and the frying bath
is not hot enough. Wait until the control lamp goes out. Only ever
deep-fry small quantities of the food to be cooked (particularly
with frozen food).
The temperature of the frying bath may be too low. Set the tem-
perature controller to a higher temperature.
