SUMMARY:
Initial EPP-200 power sources contained coolant flow switches with marginally high thresholds. In
rare cases, this could cause nuisance low flow errors. An upgrade has been made to lower this
threshold while still providing adequate torch protection.
OPERATIONAL IMPACT:
None expected.
PT-24 typically exhibits a coolant flow rate above the 0.5 GPM threshold and should not trip the
switch. The typical flow switch threshold is 0.25 GPM for protection of the PT-24 torch. The 0.5
GPM switch adds extra safety margin for torch protection but occasional episodes of low coolant
pressure or flow restrictions could cause nuisance errors of the EPP-200 system even though the
coolant flow is still adequate for torch protection.
ACTION:
It is highly recommended that you identify the flow switch in your EPP 200 console. There is
no action required if no nuisance coolant errors or EPP-200 shut downs have been experienced.
I f you wish to replace the flow switch, order the alternate part number and replace it using the
following procedure.
1. Turn “Off” or disconnect all power to the EPP-200 power source.
2. Remove the right side of the EPP-200 power source.
3. Identify the type of flow switch (lower middle section) in your unit by comparing it with the
photos below.
4. Disconnect the coolant hoses.
5. Disconnect the wire connectors.
6. Remove the two mounting screws.
7. Install new flow switch in reverse order
