The band’s ninth studio album, titled
simply The Beatles, quickly became
known as ‘The White Album’ because of
its plain white cover. Written mostly at
a transcendental meditation retreat in
India and recorded in London’s Abbey
Road studios, The Beatles has sold over
24 million copies since its release in 1968
– with Rolling Stone magazine naming it
the 10th greatest album of all time.
The buildable piece of iconic art you now
own is based on the four portraits featured
on the inside of the gatefold sleeve of
the original vinyl version of the album.
These portraits now feature on the cover
of The Beatles’ Super Deluxe Edition, a
seven-disc release for the White Album’s
50th anniversary in 2018.
