Note:InordertoinstalloruninstallsoftwareinWindows,
youmusthaveAdministratorprivileges.
Note:BeforeyouconnectthePS60toyourcomputervia
USB,youmustusethePS60applicationinstallertoinstall
KORGUSBMIDIDriverTools.
Using the PS60 application installer
ThePS60applicationinstallerwillinstalltheKORGUSB
MIDIDriverToolsandthePS60Editor/PlugInEditor.
1. Inserttheincludedaccessorydiscintoyouroptical
discdrive.
Normallythe“PS60ApplicationInstallerwillstartup
automatically.
Ifyourcomputerissetsotheinstallerdoesnotrun
automatically,doubleclick“KorgSetup.exe”on
the
accessorydisc.
2. Fromthelist,selecttheapplicationsthatyouwantto
install,andclick[Install].
Theapplicationsyouselectedwillbegintheinstalla
tionprocess.
IfyouwanttoconnectthePS60toyourcomputervia
theUSBport,youmustinstalltheKorgUSBMIDI
DriverTools.Thenfrom
withintheKorgUSBMIDI
DriverTools,youwillneedtoinstalltheKorgUSB
MIDIdriver.(“InstallingtheKORGUSBMIDIdriver
onpage 2)
3. Followtheonscreeninstructionstoinstallthe
software.
Whenyouclickthe[Install]buttonforthePS60Editor/
PlugInEditorinstep2,the“PS60
Editor/PlugInEdi
torInstaller ”dialogboxwillappear.
Selectandinstallalldesiredcompoments,suchas,the
Editor(Standalone),PlugInEditor(VST),and/orPlug
InEditor(RTAS).
Forexampleifyouwanttoinstallthestandalonever
sion,click[InstallStandaloneApplication].
Followtheonscreeninstructionstoproceed
withthe
installation.
Iftheinstallationwassuccessful,click[Close].
The“PS60Editor/PlugInEditorInstallerwillappear.
Nextyouwillinstallthepluginversion(s)thatyou
wanttouse.Usingtheproceduredescribedabove,
beginwithstep1andinstallthepluginversion(s)that
youwanttouse.
If
youdon’twanttoinstalltheVSTorRTASplugin
version,click[ExitSetup]toendtheinstallation.
Whenyou’vefinishedinstallingtheapplication(s)that
youwant,click[ExitSetup]toexittheinstaller.

4. Whenyou’veinstalledallof
theselectedsoftware,
exittheinstaller.
Installing the KORG USB-MIDI driver
UsetheKORGUSBMIDIDriverToolstoinstallthe
KORGUSBMIDIdriver.
Beforeyoucontinue,youmustfinishinstallingtheKORG
USBMIDIDriverToolsinyourcomputer.
1. UseaUSBcabletoconnectyourcomputer’sUSBport
tothePS60’sUSBconnector.Thenpoweronthe
PS60.
Whenyour
computerfirstdetectsthatthePS60is
connected,theWindowsdefaultdriverwillbe
installedautomatically.Howeversincethisdriveris
nottheKorgUSBMIDIdriver,itcannotbeused
correctly.
Note:IfyouareusingWindowsXPorWindowsVista,
thedrivermustbeinstalledseparatelyforeachUSB
portusedtoconnectthePS60.IfyouconnectthePS60
toaUSBportotherthantheportthatyoupreviously
used,you’llneedtoinstalltheKORGUSBMIDIdriver
againusingthesameprocedurelistedabove.
2. Fromthetaskbar,click[Start][All
Programs][KORG][KORGUSBMIDIDriver
Tools][InstallKORGUSBMIDIdevice].
Thesetuputilitywillstart.
3. Followtheonscreeninstructionstoinstallthe
KORGUSBMIDIdriver.
Duringtheinstallation,ifadialogboxregardingdigi
talsignaturesappearswithamessagesaying“....has
notpassedWindowslogotesting,”simplyclick[Con
tinue]toproceed.
If
youareunabletoproceedwiththeinstallation,it’s
possiblethatyourcomputerhasbeensettoprohibit
installationofunsigneddrivers.Checkthesettingsof
yourcomputerasdescribedinAllowinginstallation
ofdriversthatarenotdigitallysigned.”
4. Afteryou’veinstalledtheKORGUSBMIDIdriver,
exittheinstaller.
Ifyouareaskedwhetheryouwanttorestart,choose
[Yes]torestartyourcomputer.

theKORGUSBMIDIdriver,refertotheinstallation
manual(HTML).
Toviewthemanual,choose[Start][AllPro

Allowing installation of drivers that are not
digitally signed (Windows XP only)
Ifthecomputeryou’reusinghasbeensettoforbidthe
installationofanydriversthatarenotdigitallysigned,
youwon’ tbeabletoinstalltheKORGUSBMIDIdriveror
theFireWireAudio/MIDIdriver.Proceedasfollowsto
changethissettingsothatyou’llbeabletoinstallthe
drivers.
1. Fromthetaskbar,click[Start][ControlPanel]to
accessthecontrolpanel.
2. Inthecontrolpanelwindow,doubleclick[System],
andthenclickthe[Hardware]tab.
3. In“Drivers,”click[DriverSigning].
4. Inthe“WhatactiondoyouwantWindowstotake?”
area,choose[Ignore]or[Warn],andthenclick[OK].
Ifnecessary,
youcanchangethissettingbacktoits
originalstateafteryou’veinstalledtheKORGUSB
MIDIdriver.

•ThePS60andyourcomputerarebothpoweredon.
•TheKorgUSBMIDIdriverisinstalledfortheUSB

•ThePS60
Editor(standaloneversion)isinstalledon
yourcomputer.
1. StartupthePS60Editor.
Windows
Inthetaskbar,clickthe[Start]buttonandthen[All
Programs].Fromthemenu,choose“KORG”–“PS60”–
“PS60Editortostartuptheeditor.
Alternatively,youcannavigatetothe“KORG”folder–
“PS60”folder,anddoubleclickthe“PS60
Editor.exe”
iconlocatedthere.
The“KORG”folderwillbeinthelocationthatyou
selectedwheninstallingthesoftware.Bydefault,it
willbeinthe“ProgramFiles”folder.
Macintosh
NavigatetotheApplications”folder–“KORG”folder–
“PS60”folder,anddoubleclickthe“PS60Editoricon.
•Whenyoustartup,datawillbetransmitted
and
receivedbetweenthePS60andthePS60Editor.The
PS60’sdisplaywillindicate“Nowtransmitting”and
thePS60Editorwillindicate“Synchronizing...”while
thesynchronizationdataisexchanged.
2. Tosimplifythetestingprocess,selectperformanceA
1,whichusesSinglesettings.
TopressthePERFORMANCEBANKbuttonontheleft
sideofthePS60’spaneltoselectbankA,andthenpress
button1totheright.
3. WhenyoupressoneofthePS60’stimbreselectorON
buttons,thecorrespondingbuttonintheupper
middleareaofthePS60Editorwindowandthe
timbrefieldontheleftsidewillswitch
accordingly.
InthesamewayasifyouclicktheeditorsON
buttonsorthefieldstotheleft,thesettingsonthe
PS60itselfwillswitchaccordingly.
Global mode settings on the
PS60
IfthePS60doesnotfunctioncorrectlywithyour
computer,checkthefollowingsettingsonthePS60itself.
“Local Ctrl” settings
TheMIDIsoftwareonyourcomputermighthaveanEcho
BackfunctionwheremessagesthatarereceivedatMIDI
IN/USBareretransmittedwithoutchangefromMIDI
OUT/USB.
IfyourMIDIsoftware’sEchoBackisturnedonwhenthe
PS60isbidirectionallyconnectedwithyourcomputer,
thePS60’sinternalsoundgenerator
willreceiveduplicate
messages(theinternallygeneratedmessagesaswellas
themessagesreceivedviaechoback),whichwillcause
problemssuchaseachnotebeingsoundedtwice.
Insuchcases,youcansolvetheproblembyturningthe
PS60’slocalcontrolsettingOffsothatthesignalrouteis
internally
disconnectedinsidethePS60.
Withthefactorysettings,thePS60’slocalcontrolsetting
(“LocalCtrl”)isturnedOn.(“PS60OwnersManual”on
page42)
Note:WhenusingthePS60byitself,leavethelocalcontrol
setting(“LocalCtrl”)turnedOn.IfthisisOff,nosound
willbeproducedwhenyouplay
thePS60’skeyboard.
Note:ThePS60Editor/PlugInEditorwillautomatically
setthePS60’slocalcontrolsettingtotheappropriatestate
whenthesoftwarestartsup.
MIDI Filter “SysEx” setting
Withthefactorysettings,thePS60issetsothatitwillnot
transmitorreceivesystemexclusivemessages(“SysEx”
Off).(“PS60OwnersManual”onpagep.43)
SincethePS60Editor/PlugInEditorusenumerousMIDI
systemexclusivemessagesforcommunicatingwiththe
PS60,thissettingofthePS60willautomatically
beturned
Onwhenthesoftwarestartsup.
IfyouareusingaMIDIdeviceoranapplicationother
thanthePS60Editor/PlugInEditoranddonotwant
systemexclusivemessagestobetransmittedandreceived
betweenitandthePS60,you’llneedtousethePS60to
manuallyturn
thissettingOn.
Ifyouperformanyofthefollowingoperationsonthe
PS60afterthePS60Editor/PlugInEditorhasfinished
startingup,subsequentcommunicationwillnotbe
possible.
