Preparing for use
Charging the appliance
Chargetheapplianceforatleast16hoursbeforeyouuseitfortherst
time.
Tip: If you are not going to use the appliance for a longer period of
time, remove the adapter from the wall socket to save energy.
1 Insert the small plug into the charging socket on the appliance.
Insert the adapter into the wall socket (Fig. 2).
The charging light goes on to indicate that the battery is being
charged (Fig. 3).
Note: The charging light stays on as long as the adapter is in the wall socket.
It does not give any information about the charge level of the built-in
batteries.
Note: To optimise the lifetime of the rechargeable batteries, periodically
discharge them completely by letting the appliance run until it stops and then
recharge them fully again.

Using the appliance

Push the on/off slide forwards to switch on the appliance (Fig. 4).
2 Push the on/off slide backwards to switch off the appliance. (Fig. 5)
Accessories

1 Attach the brush tool to the nozzle of the appliance (Fig. 6).
Cleaning
Always remove the adapter from the wall socket before you clean the
appliance.
1 Clean the appliance with a damp cloth.
Emptying the dust compartment
Makesureyouemptythedustcompartmentandcleanthelters
regularly.
1 Hold the appliance over a dustbin and press the dust compartment
release button (Fig. 7).
2 Removethelterunitfromthedustcompartment(Fig.8).
3 Empty the dust compartment with your free hand.
4 Cleantheouterlterandtheinnerlterwithabrush.
Note: To clean the inner lter, you can remove the outer lter from the lter
holder by turning it anticlockwise.
Note: If the outer and the inner lter are very dirty, you can clean them with
a normal vacuum cleaner.
Note: If necessary, you can clean the outer lter and the inner lter in cold or
lukewarm water.
5 Placetheouterlterbackontothelterholderandputthelter
holder back into the dust compartment. Make sure you insert the
lterholderinthecorrectway(Fig.9).

Neverusethevacuumcleanerifthelterunitisstillwet.
Replacement
Replacetheinnerlterifitcannolongerbecleanedproperly
(usually after it has been cleaned about 50 times).
1 Removethelterunitfromthedustcompartment(Fig.8).
2 Turntheouterlteranticlockwise(1)andremoveitfromthe
holder (2). (Fig. 10)
3 Gentlyturntheinnerlteranticlockwise(1)andremoveit
from the holder (Fig. 11).
4 Placeanewlterontheholder(1)andturnthelterclockwise(2)
to attach it to the holder (Fig. 12).
5 Pushthetipoftheinnerlterinwards(Fig.13).
6 Placetheouterlterontheholder(1)andturnthelterclockwise
(2) to attach it to the holder (Fig. 14).

youhavetroubleremovingthebatteries,youcanalsotakethe

Removing the rechargeable batteries
Only remove the rechargeable batteries if they are completely empty.
NiCd/NiMH rechargeable batteries may explode if exposed to high
temperaturesorre.
Removethebatteriesinthefollowingway:
1 Let the appliance run until it stops, undo the screws and open the
vacuum cleaner (Fig. 16).
2 Cut the connecting wires one by one and remove the
batteries (Fig. 17).
