3. Simple layer food steams faster than multi- layered food, therefore, steaming time for a large
quantity of food is much longer
4. For better results, select proper amount of food to steam, if the food varies greatly in size, it is
advisable to place the smaller food items on the top.
5. Don’t fill rice pan full of food, as there should be enough space between foods to allow for the
maximum steam flow.
6. When steaming a large quantity of food, remove the steamer lid and stir the food halfway with a
long handled tool.
7. For preventing damage being done to the heating element, don’t add any salt, pepper, flavoring,
essence to the steam plate.
8. Save liquid in drip tray for making soup, sauces or gravy.
9. Please defrost it first before steaming frozen meat or poultry.
10. Steaming time stated in recipes is based on the use of cold water.
11. The steam plates are also used for steaming other food such as fruits, vegetables, pudding, quick
bread, etc.
12. When using three steam plates, always place the food with long steaming time in lower steam
plates.
13. You may place different food respectively in three steam plates, as steam will drip from the
upper layer, make sure food flavor is consistent between each of them. If steaming meat and
vegetables, always place meat in the lower layer so that gravy can’t drip onto other food.
14. Steaming time for food in the upper steam plate is usually longer than 5 minutes, if you need to
steam foods with different cooking times, start steaming the food with the long cooking time in
the lower steam plate, then when the remaining time reaches that of food with the short cooking
time, carefully remove steam lid using oven mitts and place lower support and lower steam plate
filled with food, eventually, cover with steam lid and continue steaming.
