Note on the power supply lead (yellow)
When you connect other devices to this
apparatus, ensure that the rating of the
car circuit is higher than the total fuse
value of all the connected devices.
Notes on speaker connection
Never connect speaker wires to the
metal body or chassis of the car.
Never connect speaker wires with stripes
to one another.

3 Get started
Caution
Use the controls only as stated in this user
manual.
Always follow the instructions in this chapter in
sequence.
If you contact Philips, you will be asked for the
model and serial number of your apparatus. The
model number and serial number are on the
bottom of your apparatus. Write the numbers
here:

Install the car audio
These instructions are for a typical installation.
However, if your car has different requirements,
make the corresponding adjustment. If you have
any questions regarding installation kits, consult
your Philips car audio dealer.
Caution
This unit is designed for negative ground
(earth) 12 V DC operation only.
Always install this unit in the car dashboard.
Other locations can be dangerous as the rear
of the unit heats up during use.
To avoid short-circuit: before you connect,
ensure that the ignition is off.
Ensure that you connect the yellow and red
power supply leads after all other leads are
connected.
Ensure that all loose leads are insulated with
electrical tape.
Ensure that the leads do not get caught under
screws orin parts that will move (e.g. seat rail).
Ensure that all ground (earth) leads are run to
a common ground (earth) point.
Use only the supplied mounting hardware for a
safe and secure installation.
Improper fuses can cause damage or fi re.
When you need to change the fuse, consult a
professional.

4 Ensure that car dashboard opening is
within these measurements:
5 Install the sleeve into the dashboard and
bend the tabs outward to fi x the sleeve.
Note
Skip this step if the unit is not fi xed by sleeve
but by supplied screws.

4 Connect the supplied standard connector
to the unit.
Mount in the dashboard
1 If the car does not have an on-board
drive or navigation computer, disconnect
the negative terminal of the car battery.
If you disconnect the car battery in
a car that has an on-board drive or
navigation computer, the computer
may lose its memory.
If the car battery is not disconnected,
to avoid short-circuit, ensure that
bare wires do not touch each other.
2 Remove the two screws on the top of the
unit.
3 Remove the mounting sleeve with the
supplied disassembly tools.

Attach the front panel
1 Attach the trim plate.
2 Insert the right side of the panel in the
chassis until it is correctly engaged.
3 Press the left side of the panel and point
the left hole at the left pillar.
4 Release the panel to engage the left side.
Install remote control battery
Caution
Risk of explosion! Keep batteries away from
heat, sunshine or re. Never discard batteries
in re.
Risk of decreased battery life! Never mix
different brands or types of batteries.
Risk of product damage! When the remote
control is not used for long periods, remove
the batteries.
Perchlorate Material - special handling may
apply. See www.dtsc.ca.gov/hazardouswaste/
perchlorate.
6 Place the supplied rubber cushion over
the end of the mounting bolt.
7 Slide the unit into the dashboard until you
hear a click sound.
8 Reconnect the negative terminal of the
car battery.

For fi rst-time use:
1 Remove the protective tab to activate the
remote control battery.
2 Open the battery compartment.
3 Insert 1 CR2025 batteries with correct
polarity (+/-) as indicated.
4 Close the battery compartment.
Turn on

currently time is displayed.

Store radio stations in
memory
You can store up to 6 stations in each band.
Store staions automatically
1 Press SEARCH for 3 seconds.
The six strongest stations of the »
selected band are saved in preset
channels 1-6 automatically.
Store staions manually
1 Tune to a station that you want to store.
2 Press one of the numbered buttons 1 to
6 for 3 seconds.
The station is saved in the selected »
channel.
Tune to a preset station
1 Press or to select band.
2 Press the number button 1 to 6 to select
the preset station.
Play with RDS
The RDS (Radio Data System) function
operates only in areas with FM stations
broadcasting RDS signals. If you tune to an RDS
station, an RDS icon and information about the
presenter, station or program is displayed.
Turn on RDS
Note
By default, the RDS function is off.
1 Press MENU/DISP for 3 seconds.
4 Listen to radio
Tune to a radio station
1 Press SOURCE repeatedly to select
Tuner.
2 Press or to select band: [FM1],
[FM2], [FM3], [AM1], or [AM2] .
3 Press or to tune to a radio station
manually.
The radio station is broadcast.»
To search for a radio station »
automatically, press SEARCH for 3
seconds.
Select tuner sensitivity
You can adjust the tuner sensitivity if you want
to receive more radio stations or only stations
with strong signal.
1 Press MENU/DISP for over 2 seconds.
2 Press or repeatedly until [LOCAL]
or [ DX] is displayed.
3 Rotate to select a setting:
[ LOCAL] (local): Only stations with
strong signal can be broadcast.
[ DX] (distance): Stations with strong
and weak signals can be broadcast.
4 Press to con rm the selection.
Select stereo/mono broadcasting
For stations with weak signals: to improve the
reception, change to monoaural sound.
1 Press MENU/DISP for 3 seconds.
2 Press or repeatedly until [STEREO]
or [MONO] is displayed.
3 Turn to select a setting:
[STEREO]: stereo broadcast.
[MONO]: mono broadcast.
4 Press to con rm the selection.

Store RDS stations
You can store up to six (6) RDS stations in
each FM band in preset channels.
Note
If you have stored radio stations in the preset
channels (see ‘Store radio stations in memory’
on page 17 ), below operation will replace the
pre-stored stations.
1 Turn on RDS (see ‘Turn on RDS’ on page
17 ).
2 Select band: [FM1], [FM2] or [FM3] .
3 Press SEARCH/ for 3 seconds.
» [AUTO - SCN] or [PTY] is displayed.
4 Press or to select [AUTO - SCN].
5 Press to start searching.
Six RDS stations with strongest signal »
are stored in channel 1 to 6.
2 Turn to select [ RDS ON]:
» [RDS] is displayed.
To turn off the RDS function, repeat
steps above and choose [RDS OFF].
Select program type
Before tuning to RDS stations, you can select
program type and let the unit search only for
programs of the selected category.
1 Press /SEARCH until [AUTO--SCN] or
[PTY] is displayed.
2 Press or to select [ PTY], then press
/MENU to confi rm.
3 Turn or to select a program type,
then press
/MENU to start searching.

3 Turn to select a setting:
[TA ON]: When there is traf c
announcement, the unit switches
to the tuner mode (regardless of
the current mode) and begins to
broadcast the announcement on
traf c conditions. When the traf c
announcement is over, it returns to
the previous mode.
[TA OFF]: Traf c announcement
does not cut in.
Set TA volume
When TA (traf c announcement) signal is
interrupted, the volume can keep at a preset
level. Follow steps below to set TA volume:
1 Press MENU/DISP for 3 seconds.
2 Press or repeatedly until [TA VOL] is
displayed.
3 Turn to select a volume level:
12(minimum) to 45(maximum).
Select alternate frequencies
If the radio signal come from the current
station is poor, you can turn on the AF
(Alternate Frequency) function to let the
unit searches for another station with
stronger signal but with the same program
identifi cation as the current station
automatically.
1 Press MENU/DISP for 3 seconds.
2 Press or repeatedly until [AF] is
displayed.
3 Turn to select a setting:
[AF ON]: Turn on the AF mode.
[AF OFF]: Turn off the AF mode.
Set region for AF tuning
You can defi ne AF tuning region:
[REG
ON]
Only stations in the current
region can be tuned to
automatically.
[REG
OFF]
All stations can be tuned to
automatically.
1 Press MENU/DISP for 3 seconds.
2 Press or repeatedly until [REG]
(Regional Radio) is displayed.
3 Turn to select a setting.
Receive traffi c announcement
If you do not want to miss traf c
announcement during enjoying music, you
can turn on the TA (Traf c Announcement)
function.
1 Press MENU/DISP for 3 seconds.
2 Press or repeatedly until [TA] is
displayed.

Voice dialing
You can dial a number by voice if your mobile
phone supports voice dialing.
1 Press for 3 seconds.
» [VOIC DIAL] is displayed.
2 Speak a name stored in contact list stored

Make a call
1 Press SOURCE repeatedly to select [BT

[RECEIVED]: received call
[ME PBK]: Phone directory
[SIM PBK]: SIM card directory
4 Press to con rm the selection.
5 Use bluetooth
devices
With this car audio system, you can listen
to audio fi les from a player or make a call
if bluetooth connection is available on your
phone or player.
Pairing bluetooth devices
You can pair your bluetooth device with the
unit as follows:
1 Turn on bluetooth function on the device.
2 Setup bluetooth fuction on your device.
3 Select “CEM250” in the pairing list.
4 Enter default password “0000”.
» [CONNECT] is displayed on the
panel if pairing succeeds.
Tip
If the paired device is moved beyond the
operational range, when it is brought back,
please check if the device is still connected
with the system:
. If they are connected, [Disconnect] (red icon)
is displayed.
. If connection is lost, [Connect] (green icon) is
displayed. Follow the instruction above to pair
the device with the system again.
Adjust microphone position
For better sound quality in make/receive phone
call through Bluetooth, place the microphone at
a location close to mouth.
1 Make sure the supplied microphone is
connected to the car audio system. (See
Connect wires section).
2 Place the microphone at a proper
location. For example,
