3M™ Ribbon Cable IDC Socket, D89 Series

Product Change
In order to improve competitiveness, 3M is making two changes to the D89 Series of Ribbon Cable
Sockets.
1) Increasing contact plating thickness of the interface from 10µ” Au to 15µ” Au. As this is a performance
improvement, many customers will be able to accept the change without requalification.
2) Changing the color of the insulator from black PBT to gray PBT. Resin material and product
performance specifications will not change.
Part numbers will not change.
Last time buys of black, 10µ” Au products will be available until 5 p.m. (Central US Time) on
November 30, 2010. All orders received by 3M after that date will be fulfilled using gray, 15µ” Au
product.
This notice affects all D89 Series Ribbon Cable Sockets, as shown on TS-2243. The following is a list of
