Product liability, information obligation
Product liability obliges manufacturers and dealers to issue operating instructions for the machine at the point of sale and to instruct
the customer on the operation, safety and maintenance regulations governing the machine.
A confirmation is required to verify that the machine and operating instructions have been handed over correctly.
For this purpose
- Document A is to be signed and returned to Pöttinger
- Document B remains with the specialist dealer handing over the machine.
- The customer receives document C.
For the purposes of product liability law, every farmer is an entrepreneur.
In the terms of product liability law, damage to property is any damage arising due to the machine, but not to the machine, and an
excess (500 euros) exists for this liability.
Corporate damage to property within the terms of the product liability law is excluded from this liability.
Be advised! The operating instructions must also be handed over with any subsequent machine sale or transfer and the transferee
must be instructed in the regulations stated.

Preparing the tractor
Ballast weight:

Lifting gear
- The left and right lifting struts (4) must be the same length.
Adjust using adjuster (3).
- If lifting struts (4) can be pinned at various positions on the lower
links, then select the back position (H). In doing this, the tractor’s
hydraulics will not be so greatly overloaded.
- Pin (2) upper link (1) in accordance with the manufacturer’s
specifications.
- Secure lower links with struts (5) so that attached implement cannot
swing out during transportation.
Preparing the implement
Mounting axle
Install correct mounting bar on tractor’s lifting gear which corresponds
to the connecting size (Category II or III). See Spare Parts List also.
Upper link
- Position upper link (1) so that the attachment point (P1) on the
implement during operation is somewhat higher than the attachment
point (P2) on the tractor.
Connect drive shaft
- Check drive shaft length and adapt if necessary before initial
operation.
See chapter "Drive Shaft" in Supplement B also.
Track loosener (Optional equipment)
Only use track loosener when working on ploughed ground!

Conversion from working to transport position
Safety Precaution!

Changing from working position to transport position
is only to be carried out on even, firm ground.
• Make sure that swivel area is free and that nobody
is standing in the danger area.
- heed the distance (17) to the rear window!
1. switch off the PTO drive shaft
2. raise implement using the tractor’s lifting gear (H1)
3. secure both packer rollers in the lowermost position
with bolts (15)
4. rise both rotary harrows into the transportation position
(T)
- use the appertaining double-action control valve for this
Security equipment
A security equipment is installed at the two swing cylinders. This
is always actively and prevents the sudden turning away of the
two rotary harrows if a hydraulic line becomes leaky or a hydraulic
hose is damaged.
The security equipment is not allowed to off or is
changed!
Important!
In the transport position (T), the machine cannot be
parked longer time.
- The casing bearing in the inner of the gear balk is filled with
transmission grease. This grease could flow out, the lubrication
would be no longer sufficient then
Driving on public roads
Observe the official regulations of your country.
• Travelling on open roads may only be carried out as described
in chapter "Transport position".
Protection devices must be in proper condition.
Before travelling bring all swivelling parts into their correct positions
and secure against dangerous changes to position.
Check that lighting functions before travelling.

operating manual.

Conversion from transport to working position
Make sure that swivel area is free and that nobody is standing in
the danger area.
Work steps

however in reverse
order.
Hint
Turning away of the two rotary harrows into the working position
can take place only with one double acting hydraulic valve. The
security equipment (hydraulic barrier) is deactivated only by hydraulic
pressure.
Parking in the open
When parking in the open for
long periods of time, clean
plunger rods and then coat with
grease.
Garaging the implement
- Implement stops only in working position
- Park implement on firm and even ground.
- With soft underground use a stable base
- Pull support stand (18) out and secure with spring pin.
- Uncouple drive shaft from tractor.
- Remove upper link from implement.
- Uncouple the hydraulic lines from tractor.

This will release any possible residual pressure present in the
lines.

WORKING ON SLOPES
Take care when turning on slopes!
The tractor's travelling characteristics are influenced
by the weight (G) of the machine. This can lead to
dangerous situations, especially on slopes.
Danger of tipping occurs
when the both machines are in a raised position
- The machine facing uphill is always raised first which results
in uneven weight distribution (G).
when travelling in a curve with both machines raised
Safety advice
Reduce speed in curves accordingly.
It is better to travel in reverse on a slope than to carry out a risky
turning manoeuvre.

Road drive lighting
Optionally, you can be delivered a lighting unit (14).
See spare parts list for individual parts.
Check before putting into operation
- Implement hitched in horizontal position.
- Upper link.
- Lower link (4) fastened laterally.
- Cardan shaft crosscut correctly.
- Rotor speed preselected according to Table.
Manual transmission
The rotor speed (215, 296, 393 min-1) shall be preselect-
ed function of the operation conditions and tractor power
according to Table.
Be advised!
• Danger of burns due to hot gear -
this instruction applies for all gears
on the machine
- Keep distance, wear protective
gloves
• Turn motor off before operating the
switch lever
Safety information
Danger - stay clear of rotating machine
parts
Caution! Keep a safe distance while motor
is running with connected PTO.
PTO drive shaft speed 1000 min-1 (U/min)
Note:
Use this speed only so as not to put
overload on the various driving parts on
the tractor and implement.
Setting the working depth
The working depth (T) of the rotary is determined by the
pivot arc of the attached roller.
Both pins left and right, pinned in the corresponding slot,
function as limit stops.
For safety reasons, the implement
must stand on the ground for setting
operations.
- Rotate and take out bolt.
- Insert pins left and right in the same slot
and secure again by rotating.
Scrapers
You set the scraper support by rotating both nuts (11) left
and right outside.
Check in advance whether the individual scrapers (10) are
at the same distance from the roller.

Setting the scrapers
- Turn the roller and check the distance of the scrapers
(10).
- Loosen the hexagonal screw (SK) and set the scraper
correctly.
- Turn the roller again for control.
Side plates
The side boards (20) can be adjusted using the various
slotted holes. The position shall be adjusted to the working
depth.
Rear rail (optional equipment)
You can adjust the rear rail (31) height and thus adjust it
to the respective working depth.
In case of moist sticky soil you should set the rear rail in
highest position or unhitch it.
Ground adjustment:
By means of the ground adjustment the implement au-
tomatically adjusts to topological conditions, such as the
slope inclination.

Prior to every operation:
1. Check system pressure on the manometer (4): The
system pressure should have the factory setting or a
value corresponding to the maximum resistance you
selected. If this value is exceeded, increase system
pressure.
2. If necessary, set throttle response on the valve (1) and/
or the maximum resistance by means of the screw (2)

Set the throttle response
The throttle response is set from factory.
Screw in the valve (1) - slower throttle response
Screw out the valve (1) - quicker throttle response

Set the maximum pressure of ground tracking
The throttle response is set from factory at 40 bar. Setting
range up to maximum 200 bar.
The knurled screw may be screwed out to max. 75 mm.
Otherwise the ground tracking will stop functioning because
the system pressure is too low.

Safety advice
You should start the machine only under the
following conditions:
1. When both protective tubes (30a) are assembled.
2. When the rear rail (31) or a rear implement (cage
roller, packer roller, ...) is assembled.
3. When both side covers (20) are folded down and
the working depth is set accordingly.
Keep away from the engine when running.
1. Keep people out of the danger zone as any foreign
bodies ejected by the mower could injure them.

2. Special care is necessary on stony ground and near
roads and paths.
Turn the machine off when lifting the PTO shaft.

OVERLOAD CUT-OUT
Cam clutch function (1600 Nm)
The cam clutch switches the drive off when it becomes overloaded.
The switched off clutch can be switched on again by uncoupling the p.t.o.
drive.
Take note!
Sensible operation prevents frequent clutch response and preserves
against unnecessary wear and tear.
Cam clutch adjustment
The factory setting is 1600 Nm.
This corresponds to a setting of L = 128 mm.
Dismantling the cam clutch
- Only dismantle clutch when locking cam is engaged
(E).
- Note fitting position of locking cam (SN) when
dismantling.
- Remove spring bolt (F).
Take note!
Both compression springs on the spring bolt must be
equally tensioned firmly.

Advice for general maintenance
Please observe the following information to keep the
implement in good condition even after long periods
of operation.
Safety advice
Turn the motor off before carrying out any adjustment,
maintenance or repair work.
Do not work under the implement without secure
support.
- Re-tighten all screws after the first hours of operation.
- Observe spur gear-angular gear maintenance
information.
- The spur gear in the rotor bar is maintenance free.
Cleaning of machine parts
! ! ! Be advised! ! !
Do not use a high pressure cleaner to clean
bearings and hydraulic parts.
- Danger of rusting !
- After cleaning, lubricate the machine according to the
lubrication chart and carry out a brief test run.
- Cleaning with too much pressure may damage the
paint.
Winter storage
- Clean implement thoroughly prior to winter storage.
- Park where protected from the weather.
- Change or top up gear oil.
- Protect exposed parts against rusting.
- Grease all lubrication points according to plan.
- Do not park the machine in a raised position.
Hydraulic unit
Caution: Danger of injury and infection!
Liquids discharging at high pressure may penetrate the
skin. If this happens seek immediate medical help!
After the first 10 hours of operation and every
50 hours of operation thereafter.
- Check hydraulic unit and lines for leaks and if necessary
re-tighten bolt connections.
Before initial operation
- Check hydraulic hoses for wear.
Replace any worn or damaged hydraulic hoses
immediately. The replacement hoses must meet the
manufacturer’s technical requirements.
Important fitting information
The bearing axles (F) must be aligned with the gearboxes.

Lubrication
Cardan shaft
- Lubricate the cardan shaft every 40 hours of operation.
- Take the sliding profiles apart and lubricate well.
Lubrication points
- Lubricate every 30 hours of operation.
FETT
Spur gear - angular gears
- First oil change after 50 operating hours.
- Further oil changes after 500 operating hours.
Note:
Change oil when at operating temperature.
The oil is too viscous when cold. Too much old oil
remains stuck to the gearwheels preventing the removal
of any suspended matter present in the gearbox.
Be advised: Danger of burning!

- Park the machine in horizontal position.
L = Ventilation screw
is unscrewed in order to pour in oil.
N = Level screw
The oil level is correct when the oil reaches this
screw.
A = Drain plug.
Tine change
Replace any damaged or worn rotor tines. Observe the
correct fitting position of each rotor tine (see Spare Parts
list).
before July 2014:
Secure both screws (SK) with Loctite 243 or another
equivalent product, then tighten with 290 Nm (29 kpm).
since July 2014:
Both screws (SK) must be glued with Omnifit M100, or
a similar product and tightened with 290 Nm (29 kpm).

The Defined Use of the Rotary Harrow
The "LION" Rotary Harrow is intended for normal use in agricultural work.
To prepare the top layer of arable land for sowing afterwards.
Any other uses are regarded as not included in this definition. The manufacturer takes no responsibility for any resulting damage which
occurs henceforth.
The risk is carried solely be the user.
The keeping of operating, service and maintenance requirements layed down by the manufacturer also come under the heading of „defined
use“.
Position of Vehicle Identification Plate
The chassis number is engraved on the name plate illustrated on the
left. Warranty claims, enquiries and spare parts orders cannot be made
without quoting the chassis number.
Please enter the number on the title page of the Operating Instructions
immediately on taking delivery of the vehicle/equipment.
