Remotec ZXT-120 is a Z-Wave-to-AC IR extender that works with any Z-Wave compliant gateway or controller. It can be used to control your air conditioner, heater, or other IR-controlled devices. The ZXT-120 has a built-in IR code library that supports most of the popular air conditioner brands in the market, so you don't need to have any IR control code knowledge. You can use your Z-Wave controller or gateway to select the IR code according to the ZXT-120 code list. The ZXT-120 also has a built-in temperature sensor, so you can use it to monitor the temperature in your room.

Operating Instructions
Introduction
TheZXT120isaZWavetoIRextenderforairconditioner(AC),
(Figure1),itworkswithanyZWavecompliantgatewayorcontroller
bytranslatingZWaveThermostatCommandstoACIRcontrolcode.
UsercanselecttheIRcodefromthebuiltincodelibraryofZXT120,
oruselearningfunction,byusingZWaveConfigurationCommands
accordingtotheparametertable.ZXT120isalsowithbuiltin
temperaturesensorwhichallowsgatewayorcontrollertogetthe
currentroomtemperature.

ZXT120canbeconfiguredaseitherFrequentlyListeningRouting

(beforeinclusionprocess).
FLiRSnodetypeisforbatteryoperatedapplicationsanditwillenter
sleepmodefrequentlyinordertoconservebatteryconsumptionthat
canprovidetheflexibilityifthereisoutof5Vdcpowersource.Also,
usercanplacetheunitinanywhereathome.
AlwaysListeningnodetypeisfortheneedsoffastresponse
application.Itworkswith5Vdcpowersource.AlwaysListeningnode
canactasarepeater,whichwillretransmittheRFsignaltoensure
thatthesignalisreceivedbyitsintendeddestinationbyroutingthe
signalaroundobstacleandradiodeadspots.
ZXT120supportsNetworkWideInclusion(NWI)andExploreFrames.
ItalsosupportsZWavenetworkswithmultiplegatewaysand
controllers.LikeeveryZWaveaccessory,userwillneedtoincludethe
ZXT120intotheirZWavenetworkusingtheprimarycontroller.Then,
theusercanuseeithertheprimarycontrollerorsecondarycontroller
toconfigureandsetuptheZXT120usingZWave’sconfiguration
commandclass.Oncetheconfigurationandsetupiscomplete,the
controllercanuseZWave“Thermostatcommandsclass”tocontrol
theirIRcontrolledairconditionerthroughtheZXT120.

materialorstructure,theZXT120canfallandcauseinjuries.

Donotmountnearakitchencounter,humidifier,orother
locationinwhichitcanbeexposedtosmokeorsteam.Doingso
couldcauseafireorelectricalshock.

injury.DonotmounttheZXT120withthescrewsstillloose.
Checkthatthetwoscrewsmountedtothewallarefullyinserted
intothekeyholesoftheZXT120.Otherwise,theZXT120canfall

MOUNTINGPROCEDURE
TheZXT120canbemountedtoawallorwoodenracksusingthetwo
keyholesinthebottomcase.
Note 1: The reception sensitivity varies depending on the antenna
direction.
Note 2: Before mounting to a wall, be sure to fully read the precautions.
1. Obtaintwoscrewssuitableforthewallstrengthandmaterial.
Thescrewsizeisshowninthefigurebelow.
2. ThepositionalrelationshipbetweentheZXT120keyholesand
thescrewmountingpositionsareshowninthefigurebelow.
Note 1: When mounting the screws to the wall, leave a space
between the wall and screw cap as shown in the figure.
3. InserttheZXT120keyholesontothetwoscrewsmountedto
thewall,andthenslidedownwardtosecureinplace.
4. AftersecuringtheZXT120tothewall,connecttheUSBPower
orbatteriesandIRemittercabletotheZXT120.
Note 1: Check that the ZXT-120 is firmly secured to the wall.
Note 2: Insert USB plug or batteries and IR emitter cable so that
they are firmly connected to the ZXT-120.
5. WhenremovingtheZXT120fromthewall,liftuptheZXT120,
thenpullittowardsyou.
6. Detachthemainunitfromthebatterychassisbymovetoward
totopposition.
WIRELESSINFORMATION
Wirelessrange:
Thisdevicehasanopenairlineofsighttransmissiondistanceof100
feetwhichcomplieswiththeZWavestandards.Performancecanvary
dependingontheamountofobjectsinbetweenZWavedevicessuch
aswallsandfurniture.EveryZWavedevicesetupinyournetworkwill
actasasignalrepeaterallowingdevicestotalktoeachotherandfind
alternateroutesinthecaseofareceptiondeadspot.
Radiofrequencylimitations:
1. Eachwallorobject(i.e.:refrigerator,bookshelf,largeTV,etc)can
reducethemaximumrangeof65feetbyupto25to30%.
2. Plasterboardandwoodenwallsblocklessoftheradiosignalthen
concrete,brickortilewallswhichwillhavemoreofaneffecton
signalstrength.
3. WallmountedZWavedeviceswillalsosufferalossofrangeif
theyarehousedinmetaljunctionboxeswhichcouldalsoreduce
therangebyupto25to30%.
