Connections

AC Power

This unit can run on AC V or V power.

Make sure that the operating voltage of the unit 1.

has been properly set to match the voltage of

your local power supply (110V or 220V) before

connecting the unit to an AC outlet. The voltage

switch can be found on the bottom of the unit.

When you have conrmed that the proper volt-2.

age has been set, use the supplied AC power

cord to connect the unit to an AC outlet.

DC Power (Battery Operation)

Remove the battery compartment cover on the 1.

rear of the unit.

Insert six “C” size batteries. Make sure that the 2.

polarities of the batteries (+/-) match the mark-

ings on the inside of the battery compartment.

Replace the battery compartment cover.3.

Headphone Out

For private listening, connect a pair of headphones

to the headphone jack on the unit. The speakers on

the unit will be disconnected during headphone use.

Make sure to lower the volume on the unit

prior to use with headphones to avoid

damage to your hearing or the head-

phones.

Basic Operation

Press 1. to turn the player on.

Press [OPEN/CLOSE] to open the CD door.2.

Load a CD into the compartment with its label 3.

Basic Operation

Set the Function switch to the “Radio” position..

Set the Band switch to choose a radio band:.

Choose “AM” to listen to AM radio broad- 

casts.

Choose “FM” to listen to FM radio broad- 

casts in mono. This setting is best if FM

station reception is weak.

Choose “FM ST” to listen to FM radio broad- 

casts in stereo. This setting will provide the

best sound if FM station reception is strong.

Turn the Tuning dial to tune to a radio station..

To optimize reception:.

The CXCD has a telescopic FM rod an- 

tenna. Extend and adjust the orientation of

the antenna for optimal FM reception.

The CXCD has an internal AM antenna. 

Reposition the unit for optimal AM recep-

tion.

Handling CDs

Hold a CD by its edges. Avoid touching the re-

corded side of the disc. To remove a CD from its

storage case, press down on the center retention

mechanism of the case and lift the disc out.

Cleaning CDs

Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe o any ngerprints and

dusts from the playing surface of the disc. Wipe in a

straight line radially from the center to the outside

edge of the disc. Small dust particles and light

stains will not aect playback quality.

Never use chemicals such as record sprays, anti- 

static sprays, benzene, or thinners to clean your

CDs.

To reduce the risk of scratches, always put CDs 

back in their case after use.

Do not subject CDs to prolonged exposure to di- 

rect sunlight, high humidity, or high temperatures.

Do not place stickers or labels on either side of 

the CD.

Cleaning the CD Player Lens

A dirty lens can cause CD playback to skip. If the

lens is very dirty, the CD may not work at all. Unplug

the power supply, open the CD door, and clean the

lens as follows:

For Dust or Dry Particles - use a camera lens 

brush/blower to blow on the lens a few times.

Then, wipe the lens gently with the brush, and

blow on the lens once more.

For Fingerprints - use a dry cotton swab to wipe 

the lens in a straight line radially from the center

to the outside edge.

There is no power to the device.

Ensure that the power cord is securely connect- 

ed to the unit and the proper wall outlet.

Ensure that the voltage selector on the bottom 

of the unit has been set properly (V or V).

The device does not play.

Moisture may have condensed inside the player. 

Remove the disc and leave the player on for one

to two hours and then try again.

There is no sound.

Try adjusting the volume. 

Ensure that the player is in the proper mode (CD 

or Radio).

Make sure that headphones are not connected. 

The sound is distorted.

The unit may be positioned too closely to a 

large appliance (e.g., a TV or refrigerator). If pos-

sible, move the unit to another location or turn

the appliance o.

Ensure that the radio station is within reception 

range.

Decrease the volume level. 

The CD will not play.

Ensure that the CD has been loaded with its 

label facing up.

Ensure that the CD is not damaged, scratched, 

or dirty.

Playback is skipping.

stable location to avoid vibration and shock.
