To ensure the long life of the 290493 Water Tester and the high accuracy of the results,

Please observe the following instructions:

A. Leave the switch in the OFF position (fully toward “PH”) when not using the tester.

B. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

C. Do not immerse the probe in any other liquid, only in pool or whirlpool water.

D. Check the battery regularly – one 1.5 V alkaline “AA” battery is used in this tester.

CLEANING THE PROBES:

A) Clean the metal probes and remove deposits using the very ﬁne 600 grit sandpaper supplied in the kit.

B) Wash the probes in a light soap and water solution and dry with a clean cloth.

C) Wait 3 to 5 seconds to reduce static discharge.

CALIBRATION OF CHLORINE MEASUREMENT – SET POINT:

Before using the water tester for the ﬁrst time, it must be adjusted (calibrated) to measure pool or hot tub water

correctly, according to the following instructions:

A. Test your pool or hot tub water with a standard drop tester.

B. Record the chlorine value (example: 1.5 PPM).

C. The pH measurement does not need to be calibrated.

FINDING THE WATER TESTER SET POINT

A. Insert a 1.5 V AA battery into the compartment inside the handle with the positive terminal facing up.

B. Hold the water tester in one hand and the probe in the other.

C. Immerse the cleaned metal probes in water up to the black strip.

D. Stir the water gently with the probe.

E. Hold the probe in the water and turn the wheel on the front of the tester all the way to the left towards “CL”.

Then turn the wheel back to the right until the hand corresponds to the chlorine level you have detected with the

drop tester (for example, 1.5).

F. Stop touching the wheel and remove the probes from the water. The hand will move all the way to the right and

stop at the letter between A and E. This letter is your SET POINT.

NOTE: Whenever you use the WATER TESTER to test chlorine levels, you must set it to the “set point” before

measuring.

CHLORINE LEVEL TESTING:

The recommended chlorine level for swimming pools and hot tubs is 1.2 to 1.7 ppm.

a) Move the hand to the “set point”

b) Grasp the water tester in one hand and the probes in the other, dip the probes into the water up to the black

band, wait for the handle to settle for a better chlorine reading.

c) Leave the probes in the water and follow the instructions for pH testing.

pH TESTING:

The recommended pH level for swimming pools and hot tubs is 7.2 to 7.8.

a) Keeping the probes submerged in water, turn the wheel until it clicks into the “pH” position (battery must be oﬀ

for pH measurement).

b) Wait for the hand to stabilize at Ph.

c) Carefully dry the probes and insert them into the holder on the side of the water tester.

Carefully read and follow the directions for use on all chemical containers.

DETAILS AND SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR USING BATTERIES

Disposing of used batteries in the environment or with waste pollutes the environment and prevents the use of

recyclable materials. It is therefore important to limit the consumption of batteries and follow the following

guidelines:

a) Use alkaline batteries (which last longer than salt batteries) and rechargeable batteries if possible.

b) Dispose of used batteries and accumulators in the appropriate containers at the dealers. This will help to

reduce environmental pollution, as batteries contain heavy metals that are particularly dangerous to health and

the environment (cadmium and nickel).

When installing the battery, observe the polarity marked on the device and on the battery. Improper installation

can damage the device, discharge the battery and in extreme cases, cause a ﬁre or explosion of the battery.

For the tester to work properly, the battery must be in good condition. If the device does not behave normally,

insert new batteries.

Never attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries. Leakage, heating, ﬁre or explosion may occur.

Change all batteries at the same time. Never combine zinc batteries with alkaline batteries or rechargeable

batteries.

The batteries must be removed from the device.

If you are not going to use the device for a long period of time, remove the batteries to avoid draining them and

damaging the device.

Never attempt to short-circuit the battery contacts.

Never throw batteries into a ﬁre, they may explode.

Only an adult may charge the batteries.

Remove the batteries from the device before charging.

When replacing batteries in the device with children, we recommend that an adult supervise these instructions

or replace the batteries themselves.

If the battery is ingested, consult a doctor or poison control centre in your area immediately. Be sure to take this

product with you.

Warranty conditions

A new product purchased from Alza.cz is covered by a 2-year warranty. In case of need for repair or other service

within the warranty period, please contact the seller of the product directly, it is necessary to present the original

proof of purchase with the date of purchase.

The following shall be deemed to be a breach of warranty for which the claim cannot be accepted:

Using the product for a purpose other than that for which the product is intended or failing to follow the

instructions for maintenance, operation and servicing of the product.

Damage to the product due to natural disaster, unauthorized person or mechanical fault of the buyer (e.g.

during transportation, cleaning by improper means, etc.).

natural wear and aging of consumables or components during use (e.g. batteries, etc.).

The action of adverse external inﬂuences such as solar and other radiation or electromagnetic ﬁelds, liquid

ingress, object ingress, mains surges, electrostatic discharge (including lightning), faulty supply or input voltage

and the improper polarity of this voltage, chemical processes, e.g. used power supplies, etc.

If anyone has made alterations, modiﬁcations, design changes or adaptations to change or extend the

product’s functions from the design purchased or use non original parts.
