Charly ist eine neugierige Ente. Kaum hört und sieht er etwas,

schon schwimmt oder watschelt Charly hinterher. Heute ist er

richtig aufgeregt. Zum ersten Mal in seinem Leben geht Charly in

einen Zoo. Dort trifft er Tiere aus aller Welt, die er vorher noch nie

gesehen hat. Könnt ihr zusammen mit Charly herausfinden, um

welche Tiere es sich handelt?

Spielidee

Durch die Gucklöcher des Tiergeheges erkennt man nie das ganze

Tier - immer nur einen Teil! Wer genau schaut und ein gutes

Gedächtnis hat, kann das Tier, das aus dem Gehege geschoben

wird, erkennen und darf die Tierkarte behalten.

Das Spielziel ist es, als Erster drei Tierkarten zu sammeln.

Spielvorbereitung

Schaut euch das Tiergehege einmal genauer an. Auf der

Vorderseite sind vier, auf der Rückseite drei Gucklöcher zu sehen.

Legt das Tiergehege so in die Tischmitte, dass die Vorderseite mit

den vier Gucklöchern zu sehen ist. Mit der Rückseite wird erst in

der „Profi-Variante“ gespielt.

Legt die acht Lauffelder wie abgebildet im Kreis um das

Tiergehege herum. Stellt Charly auf ein beliebiges Lauffeld.

Liebe Eltern,

vor dem ersten Spiel sollten Sie die einzelnen Tierkarten

gemeinsam mit den Kindern ansehen und besprechen.

Im Spiel gibt es fünf verschiedene Tiere:

• Flusspferd, Orang Utan, Chamäleon, Seelöwe, Leopard

Fragen Sie nach den Namen der Tiere und was die

Kinder über sie wissen. Zusätzlich können Sie den Text

des Tierlexikons vorlesen. Das Tierlexikon finden Sie am

Ende der Spielanleitung.

DEUTSCH

Mischt die fünfzehn Tierkarten und legt sie verdeckt gestapelt

neben die Lauffelder. Nehmt die oberste Tierkarte des Stapels,

seht sie euch an und nennt den Namen des Tieres.

Auf dem Tiergehege ist ein Pfeil zu sehen. Schiebt die Tierkarte in

Pfeilrichtung in das Tiergehege. Die Tierkarte muss so einge-

schoben werden, dass ein Teil der Illustration durch das erste

Guckloch zu sehen ist. Wiederholt den Vorgang, bis ihr insgesamt

vier Tierkarten in das Tiergehege eingeschoben habt. Haltet den

Würfel bereit.

Spielablauf

Ihr spielt reihum im Uhrzeigersinn.

Das Kind, das zuletzt in einem Zoo war, darf beginnen. Wenn ihr

euch nicht einigen könnt, beginnt das jüngste Kind und würfelt.

Ziehe Charly im Uhrzeigersinn die gewürfelte Punktzahl vor-

wärts.

Auf welchem Feld steht Charly jetzt?

• Charly schläft!

So ein Tag im Zoo ist anstrengend!

Charly ist vor lauter Erschöpfung einge-

schlafen.

Lege die Spielfigur vorsichtig auf das

Feld. Anschließend ist das nächste Kind

mit Würfeln an der Reihe.

• Charly entdeckt ein Tier!

Charly hat im Gehege ein Tier gesehen.

Doch um welches Tier handelt es sich?

Bestimmt hast du schon entdeckt, dass

die vier Gucklöcher des Geheges

unterschiedlich groß sind. Schaue dir

das kleinste Guckloch des Geheges

einmal genauer an. Durch das Guckloch

kannst du einen Teil des Tieres sehen.

Was glaubst du, um welches der Tiere es sich handelt?

Sage den anderen Kindern deine Vermutung.

Nimm anschließend die oberste Karte des Tierkartenstapels

und schiebe sie in Pfeilrichtung in das Gehege. Auf der

anderen Seite wird jetzt die zu erratende Tierkarte aus dem

Gehege geschoben.

•War dein Tipp richtig, darfst du die Karte behalten und vor

dich legen.

•War dein Tipp falsch, musst du die Karte verdeckt unter

den Tierkartenstapel legen.

Anschließend ist das nächste Kind mit Würfeln an der Reihe.

DEUTSCH

Spielende

Das Spiel endet, sobald ein Kind die dritte Tierkarte bekommt und

damit das Spiel gewinnt.

Ihr könnt auch vereinbaren so lange zu spielen, bis alle Karten

des Stapels verteilt und nur noch die vier Karten im Tiergehege

übrig sind. Es gewinnt das Kind mit den meisten Tierkarten.

Profi-Variante

In dieser Variante wird mit der Rückseite des Geheges gespielt.

Hier sind nur drei Gucklöcher zu sehen.

Der Spielablauf ist mit dem Grundspiel identisch. Alle Kinder

müssen sich jetzt sehr gut merken, welche Tiere sich im Gehege

befinden. Denn bevor eine Karte vom Stapel in das Gehege

geschoben wird, muss jetzt das Tier genannt werden, von dem

nichts zu sehen ist. Das Spiel endet, sobald ein Kind drei Tiere

richtig erraten hat und somit gewinnt.

Charlys Tierlexikon

Das Flusspferd

Flusspferde sind Vegetarier und fressen vor allem Gras. Den Tag

verbringen sie meist im Wasser und gehen erst nachts zum

Weiden an Land. Obwohl sie ganz schön rundlich aussehen,

haben Flusspferde keine Fettschicht unter der Haut. Besonders

eindrucksvoll sieht es aus, wenn sie zum Gähnen ihr Maul auf-

reißen.

Leider wurden sie auch immer wieder gejagt (zum Beispiel

wegen ihrer Eckzähne, die als Elfenbeinersatz gelten) und in

weiten Teilen Afrikas ausgerottet.

Heute findet man sie nur noch südlich der Sahara. Flusspferde

werden in der Wildnis bis vierzig, im Zoo bis zu fünfzig Jahre alt.

Der Orang Utan

Der Orang Utan lebt in den Regenwäldern von Borneo und

Nordsumatra.

Im Gegensatz zu Schimpansen und Gorillas ist er ein

Einzelgänger.

Der Menschenaffe lebt hauptsächlich in Bäumen und schläft auch

dort. Dazu baut er sich jeden Abend ein federndes Nest aus Ästen

und Laub. Er frisst vor allem Früchte, aber auch Nüsse Pflanzen,

Rinden, Ameisen und Termiten.

In Menschenobhut kann er bis 50 Jahre alt werden. Der Orang

Utan wird häufig gejagt und ist auch wegen der Zerstörung

seines Lebensraumes stark bedroht.

Wörtlich übersetzt bedeutet sein Name übrigens „roter

Waldmensch“.

Das Chamäleon

Die Hälfte aller bekannten Chamäleon-Arten lebt auf Madagas-

kar, der größten Insel Afrikas. Man kann ihnen aber auch in

anderen Teilen Afrikas, in Asien oder sogar in Südspanien

begegnen.

Das Chamäleon ist ein ausgesprochenes Baumtier. Es benutzt

seinen langen Schwanz zum Balancieren und zum Klettern. Oft

wickelt es ihn an Ästen fest und benutzt ihn wie ein fünftes Bein.

Die Augen des Chamäleons können einzeln in verschiedene

Richtungen blicken. Die Echse kann also gleichzeitig nach vorne

und zurück, nach links und nach rechts schauen.

Sobald sich ein Insekt in der Nähe befindet, schleudert das

Chamäleon seine lange Zunge blitzschnell nach vorne. Das

Beutetier bleibt an der klebrigen Zungenspitze hängen und wird

ins Maul geholt.

Das Chamäleon kann, je nach Gemütszustand, seine Hautfarbe

verändern. Wenn man es ärgert, wird es zum Beispiel ganz

dunkel.

Sein seltsamer Name stammt aus dem Griechischen und bedeutet

„Erd-Löwe“.

Der Seelöwe

Seelöwen ernähren sich hauptsächlich von Tintenfischen und

Fischen und erreichen ein Alter von zwanzig Jahren.

Ihre Kunststücke zeigen diese Ohrenrobben übrigens nicht nur im

Zoo, sondern auch wenn sie in Freiheit leben. So braucht der

Dompteur ihr Naturtalent nur in die richtigen Bahnen zu lenken.

Im Gegensatz zu den Seehunden (Hundsrobben) sind die ele-

ganten Seelöwen auch an Land sehr beweglich und haben einen

hervorragenden Gleichgewichtssinn.

Der Leopard

Den Leoparden erkennt man an der unregelmäßigen Rosetten-

musterung seines Fells. Es kann in Färbung und Zeichnung aber

sehr unterschiedlich sein. Der ganz schwarz gefärbte Leopard ist

auch als „schwarzer Panther“ bekannt.

Leoparden sind Einzelgänger. Oftmals suchen sie sich einen

Ansitz oder einen Baum aus, von welchem sie die Umgebung gut

überblicken können.

Leoparden jagen in den Abend- und Nachtstunden und bringen

ihre Beute dann auf einem Baum in Sicherheit, wo sie diese auch

aufbewahren und in Ruhe verspeisen können.

Leoparden findet man von der Südspitze und Westküste Afrikas

bis in den fernen Osten Russlands. In der freien Wildbahn werden

sie bis zu fünfzehn, im Zoo bis zu fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt.

Charly is a curious little duck. As soon as he hears or sees some-

thing he swims or waddles closer.Today he is simmering with

excitement about his first trip to the zoo. He will be able to meet

animals from all over the world which he has never seen before.

Game Idea

The aim of the game is to be the first player to collect the three

animal cards.

Only part of an animal can be seen through the peepholes of the

enclosure, never the entire animal. Whoever looks closely and has

good memory skills will be able to recognize the animal that is

being pushed out of the enclosure. If the player correctly names

the animal then this player may keep the animal card.

Preparation of the Game

Have a look at the enclosure. On one side there are four peep-

holes and on the other there are three peepholes.

Place the enclosure in the center of the table, with the side with

four peepholes facing up.The other side is used later for the

expert (more difficult) variation.

Arrange, as shown, the eight itinerary cards in a circle around the

enclosure and place Charly on one of them.

Dear Parents,

Before starting to play take a good look at the animal

cards with your child and talk about them. There are five

animals:

• the Hippopotamus, the Orangutan, the Chamelion, the

Sea Lion and the Leopard.

Ask the children to name the animals and tell what they

know about them. Additionally you can read out the

entries of the animal glossary provided at the end of

these instructions.

ENGLISH

Shuffle the 15 animal cards and put them in a pile face down

next to the itinerary. Draw the top card, look at it and announce

the name of the animal.

Now, following the direction of the arrow, push the animal card

inside the enclosure.This must be done in such a way that only

part of the illustration may be seen through the first peephole.

Repeat this procedure with three more cards so that in total four

cards are inside the enclosure. Get the die ready.

How to Play

Play in a clockwise direction.

The player who has most recently been to the zoo starts the

game. If you can't agree the youngest player starts and rolls the

die.

Now move Charly on, in a clockwise direction, as many squares

as dots are shown on the die.

On which card does he land?

• Charly is sleeping!

A day in the zoo is exhausting! Charly is

tired and has fallen asleep.

Carefully place the game figure on the

card. Then it's the turn of the next player

to roll the die.

• Charly discovers an animal!

Charly has spotted an animal in the

enclosure. But what animal is it?

Undoubtedly you have already noticed

that the four peepholes have different

sizes. Have a look at the smallest one

and try to make out what you see.

What animal do you guess it is?

Tell the other players your guess.

Then take a card from the top of the pile of animal cards and

push it inside the enclosure, always following the direction of

the arrow. On the other side of the enclosure appears the card

with the animal you had to guess.

• If you guessed correctly, you may keep the animal card.

• If your guess was wrong, slide the card face down

underneath the pile of animal cards.

Then it's the turn of the next player to roll the die.

ENGLISH

End of the game

The game ends as soon as a player has collected their third

animal card thereby winning the game.

You can also agree to carry on playing until all the cards of the

pile have been used up and only four cards remain in the

enclosure.The player with the most cards wins the game.

Variation for experts

Now the side with the three peepholes is used.

The game is played as before. However, the players now have to

remember even more which animals are inside the enclosure as

they have to name the animal which can not be seen at all

before a new card is pushed inside the enclosure.The game ends

as soon as a player was right in guessing three animals, thus

winning the game.

Charly's animal glossary

The Hippopotamus

Hippopotamuses are vegetarians and eat mostly grass.Their days

are spent in the water, and their nights in the meadows on

shore. Although they are big and round, they have no fat under

their skin. It's very impressive to see them open their huge

mouths when they yawn.

Unfortunately the hippos were hunted too much for their tusks

(which were used to replace ivory) and today the hippos have

disappeared from many areas of Africa.

Today they can only be found south of the Sahara.

Hippopotamuses live to be forty years old in the wild, and fifty in

zoos.

The Orangutan

The orangutan lives in the rainforests of Borneo and north

Sumatra. Unlike chimpanzees and gorillas, he is a loner.

He lives mostly in the trees and sleeps there, too. Every evening,

he builds himself a soft nest of branches and leaves. He eats

mostly fruit, but also nuts, plants, bark, ants and termites.

In the zoo, he can live to be fifty years old. The orangutan is

often hunted and is endangered because his natural habitat is

threatened.

Translated, his name means "red-wood person".

The Chameleon

Half of all known chameleons live in Madagascar, the largest

island in Africa. They are also found in other parts of Africa, Asia,

and southern Spain.

The chameleon is an exceptional tree animal. It uses its lang tail

for balance and climbing. It often wraps it around branches and

uses it as a fifth leg. The chameleon's eyes can see in separate

directions. So he can see forward and backward or left and right,

at the same time. As soon as an insect happens by, the

chameleon flicks his tongue out. The insect stays stuck to its

sticky tongue, and is drawn back into his mouth.

The chameleon's skin changes color, with his moods. If someone

bothers him, he turns very dark.

Its strange name is Greek in origin and means “Earth-Lion”.

The Sea lion

Sea lions eat mostly fish and have a twenty-year life span.

These seals not only do their tricks in the zoo, but also in the

wild. So the trainer uses their natural talents to get them to do

what he wants them to do.

Unlike other seals, the elegant sea lions are agile on land, and

have an extraordinary sense of balance.

The Leopard

You can recognize leopards by the irregular spots on their fur.

But the pattern and color can vary greatly.The “black panther”

is a leopard whose fur is solid black in color.

Leopards are loners.They often look for a hidden spot or a tree

from where they can observe what's going on around them.

Leopards hunt during the evening and at night. They bring their

prey up into a safe spot in a tree, where they keep it to eat it at

leisure.

Leopards are found at the southern tip and along the western

coast of Africa, and in eastern Russia. In the wild, they can live to

be 15; in the zoo they can live to be 25.

Idée

En regardant à travers les « trous » de l'enclos, on ne peut voir

qu'une seule partie de l'animal ! Celui qui observera bien et qui

aura une bonne mémoire pourra reconnaître l'animal qui est

poussé hors de l'enclos et remportera la carte d'animal.

Le but du jeu est de récupérer en premier trois cartes d'animaux.

Préparatifs

Regardez bien l'enclos des animaux. Sur la face avant, il y a

quatre « trous » et au dos, il y en a trois.

Posez l'enclos au milieu de la table de manière à voir le côté

avec les quatre trous. On ne jouera avec l'autre face que pour la

variante pour « pros ».

Posez les huit cases en cercle autour de l'enclos, comme illustré.

Mettez Charly sur n'importe quelle case.

Chers parents,

Avant de jouer pour la première fois, regardez chacune

des cartes d'animaux avec les enfants et décrivez-les

avec eux. Dans le jeu, il y a cinq animaux différents :

• Hippopotame, orang-outan, caméléon, otarie, léopard

Demandez aux enfants de nommer les animaux et de

dire ce qu'ils savent sur eux. Vous pouvez également lire

le texte du lexique des animaux que vous trouverez à la

fin de la règle du jeu.

FRANÇAIS

Mélangez les quinze cartes d'animaux et empilez-les, faces

cachées, à côté des cases. Prenez la carte du dessus de la pile,

regardez-la et dites le nom de l'animal.

Sur l'enclos, on voit une flèche.Poussez la carte dans le sens de

la flèche pour la faire rentrer dans l'enclos. La carte doit être

introduite de manière à ce qu'une partie de l'illustration soit

visible à travers le premier trou. Répétez l'opération jusqu'à ce

que vous ayez introduit en tout quatre cartes d'animaux dans

l'enclos. Préparez le dé.

Déroulement de la partie

Jouez à tour de rôle dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre.

Le joueur qui a été au zoo en dernier a le droit de commencer. Si

vous n'arrivez pas à vous mettre d'accord, c'est le joueur le plus

jeune qui commence.

Avance Charly dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre du

nombre de cases correspondant au nombre de points du dé.

Sur quelle case atterrit Charly ?

• Charly dort !

Passer une journée au zoo, est tellement

fatiguant pour Charly qu'il s'est

endormi.

Pose le pion tout doucement sur la case.

C'est ensuite au tour du joueur suivant

de lancer le dé.

• Charly découvre un animal !

Charly a vu un animal dans l'enclos.

Mais de quel animal s'agit-il ?

Tu as certainement déjà remarqué que

les quatre « trous » de l'enclos sont de

différentes tailles. Regarde bien à tra-

vers le plus petit « trou » : tu peux y

voir une partie de l'animal.

Sais-tu de quel animal il s'agit ?

Dis le nom de l'animal aux autres joueurs.

Prends ensuite la carte du dessus de la pile et pousse-la dans

l'enclos dans le sens de la flèche. La carte sur laquelle figure

l'animal à deviner sort alors de l'autre côté de l'enclos.

• Si tu as trouvé le bon animal, tu gardes la carte et la

poses devant toi.

• Si tu t'es trompé, tu remets la carte en-dessous de la pile.

C'est ensuite au tour du joueur suivant de lancer le dé.
