About This Variety: Good combination for hostas and ferns which begin to fill in as the Bleeding Heart begins to
die back. This variety was formally known as dicentra spectabilis. Flowers are heart shaped hence its common name
and appearance of a bleeding heart.
Growing Instructions: Performs best in average, to medium well drained soils with some shade. Does not like
wet soils in the winter nor really dry soils in the summer. Expect the foliage to die back in the summer.
Care Tip: Prefers protection from the hot afternoon sun. After flowering cut the plant back to 6” so that the foliage
can rejuvenate itself.
Exposure: Partial shade to full shade
Height: Grows 18-24” tall
Spacing: Plant 24-36” apart, 1.5-2” deep
Hardy in: USDA zones 3-9
