Important safeguards
When using your iron, basic safety
precautions should always be followed,
including the following:
1Read all the instructions.
2Use the steam generator only for its
intended use.
3Never hold the generator base set under
the tap.
4To protect against a risk of electric shock,
do not immerse the steam generator in
water or in any other liquids.
5The socket outlet should always be turned
to Off before plugging or unplugging from
outlet. Never yank cord to disconnect from
socket outlet; instead, grasp plug and pull to
disconnect.
6Do not allow power cable to touch hot
surfaces. Let steam generator cool
completely before putting away.
7Always disconnect the tank from the base
unit when filling with water and emptying.
8Always disconnect the steam generator
from the electrical supply when cleaning or
when not in use.
9Do not operate steam generator with a
damaged cord or if the iron has been
dropped or damaged. To avoid the risk of
electric shock, do not disassemble the
steam generator, but telephone Morphy
Richards for advice. Incorrect reassembly
can cause a shock when the steam
generator is used.
10 If the need arises to change the mains
cable on your steam generator or the iron,
please return to Morphy Richards service
department at the address on the front of
this booklet.
11 Place all electrical appliances out of the
reach of children. Close supervision is
necessary for an appliance being used
near children. NEVER allow a child to
operate this appliance.
Special instructions
1If your steam generator does not work,
check the following points:
Has the temperature control been set to the
required temperature? Is the plug in its
socket? Is the plug itself or the socket
faulty? (Check the mains socket by
plugging in another working appliance).
2Warning: When in use, your iron should
never be placed flat and left on an ironing
board.
3To prevent damage to the fabric being
ironed, follow the temperature guide
carefully. (Test the inside of the hem of the
garment).
4If you drop or severely knock your steam
generator this could cause internal damage
even if the outside appears alright. Have it
checked by Morphy Richards.
5The temperature of accessible surfaces
may be high when the appliance is
operating.
SAVE THESE
INSTRUCTIONS
12 Do not leave the steam generator
unattended whilst plugged in or on an
ironing board. Never allow the mains lead to
overhang the work surface.
13 Burns can occur from touching hot metal
parts, hot water or steam. Use caution
when using your steam generator. If your
iron is placed for a few moments on the
iron rest plate, this plate may reach very
high temperatures. In this instance, do not
touch the iron soleplate or the iron rest
plate until the iron and the iron rest have
cooled down.

Location
Locate the steam generator horizontally on
the iron rest plate of your ironing board (if
large enough) or on a heat resistant stand at
the same height of your ironing board or
below it.
Always ensure the generator is on a firm
surface when ironing.
Before use
Remove any protective films or sticker from
the soleplate and the cabinet, if any.
When ironing with the steam facility at the 1
dot setting, the steam output should be set at
the lower end of the steam range.
Textiles and clothes are supposed to carry
ironing instructions. If they don’t you should
follow the fabric guide on page 3, but be sure
to test the temperature by ironing the hem of
the garment or similar area first.
If you turn the control dial down from a hot
setting to a cooler setting, wait until the iron
temperature has stabilised before you
continue ironing.

Re-filling
1When the water level reaches a low level,
the pump begins to emit a loud noise. This is
due to air being pumped instead of water
and is quite normal. Refilling can be done
whilst the appliance is in operation. It is not
necessary to wait for the appliance to cool
down.
2Slide out the water tank and fill (see filling
instructions).
Steam ironing
1Unwind and straighten the power cord
and supply cord .
2Fill the water tank with tap water (see
filling).
3Connect the appliance to a suitable mains
outlet. Three steam level indicators will
light up indicating maximum steam. The
green power indicator will flash until the
boiler is at full temperature, when it will light
continuously.
4Turn the temperature dial on the iron in a
clockwise direction, select dot-1, dot-2 or
dot-3 according to the recommendation of
the garment label.
5The iron’s temperature indicator light
goes off when the required temperature
is reached.
6Depress the steam button for 1 minute
to clean the steam generating system (for
first time use).
7Begin first time ironing with an old towel.
Note: If you press the steam button before
the steam generator reaches its required
temperature a warning double bleep will
sound. It takes about 1 minute to reach the
required temperature.
8Press the power switch to choose
the steam level from ‘steam off’, ‘low
steam’, ‘medium steam’ and ‘maximum
steam’.
9The appliance is ready for use.
10 Press the steam button for steam ironing.
11 To switch the unit off turn the temperature
dial on the iron in an anticlockwise direction
to ‘Min’.
12 Depress and hold the power switch for 2
seconds, the base console will switch to
‘standby mode’ with a beep sound. The
indicator will change to ‘red’.
Dry ironing
1Connect the appliance to a suitable mains
outlet.
2Press the power switch 3 times until all
three steam level indicators go off (steam
off mode).
3Turn the temperature dial on the iron in a
clockwise direction, select dot-1, dot-2, or
dot-3 according to the recommendation of
the garment label.
4The temperature indicator light glows on the
iron indicating that it is switched on.
5When the required temperature is reached,
the temperature indicator light on the iron
goes off. The iron is ready to use.
It is always a good idea to begin with ‘cool’
fabrics and work up to higher settings.
An iron heats up quicker than it cools down
so you’ll save time and electricity.
An auto shut off system will activate if the
steam is not used for over 15 minutes. The
indicator will flash between green and red
indicating the unit is in ‘sleep mode’. When this
occurs, press the steam button or power
switch once, the appliance will switch on
immediately.
4Fill the tank upto the ‘fill to
here’ line with clean tap
water.
Never use battery
topping-up fluid or
water containing any
substances like
starch or sugar, or
defrosted water from a refrigerator.
5Re install the anti-scale cartridge and
replace the water tank on the base
unit.
6Always pour out the remaining water after
use.

Anti-scale system
The anti-scale cartridge is designed to
reduce the build-up of limescale which occurs
during steam ironing, this will prolong the
working life of your iron. However, please
note that the anti-scale cartridge will not
completely stop the natural process of
limescale build-up.
Using your anti-scale and alert system
This appliance has an electronic system
that monitors the water hardness.
Filling/Refilling your anti-scale cartridge
1When the anti-scale cartridge indicator
is flashing you will need to replace the
cartridge.
(Towards the end of the useful life of the
cartridge, the warning light will flash briefly
every time the tank is refilled, however,
when the cartridge needs replacing the
light will flash for a longer time, ie.1 minute
or more).
2If a new cartridge is not available you may
continue operating the appliance but scale
will build up in the system. Replace the
used cartridge as soon as possible.
3Disconnect the appliance from the mains
outlet.
4Slide out the water tank and remove the
anti-scale cartridge as shown.
5Replace with a new anti-scale cartridge
and reinstall the water tank.

Features of your
steam generator
Temperature indicator light
The indicator light shows that the iron is
warming up. When the required temperature is
reached the light will go out and will cycle on-
off during operation.
Steam function
During the steaming process, small
amounts of water may be ejected from the
soleplate. This is normal and can be avoided
by using the steam for short amounts of time
and only when the iron is at the correct
temperature (the indicator light on the iron
goes out when ready) or reducing the steam
rate by pressing the power button to choose
from; steam off, low, medium or high.
Sudden jolts of the boiler unit can also
cause water droplets on the soleplate;
therefore do not move the base unit during
ironing. We recommend for first time ironing
that you iron over an old towel.
Variable Steam
Fill the iron with water as described in
“Filling”, page 4 and insert the plug into the
electrical socket.
The steam output can be varied from low to
high by pressing the power switch. When
using the iron at the bottom of the temperature
range, the steam output should be adjusted to
the lowest setting.

Auto shut-off
When the unit has not been used for 15
minutes it will automatically go to ‘standby’. To
reactivate press the steam trigger or the
power switch.
Thermal protection
If the unit overheats due to excessive
continual usage it will go to ‘standby’ mode (for
your protection).
Allow the unit to cool down, then
re-activate by pressing the steam trigger or
power switch.
Maintenance
To clean the stainless steel soleplate
To keep the soleplate of your iron clean and
free of limescale, we recommend that you use
one of the gentle chrome, silver or stainless
steel cleaners that are generally available.
Always follow the manufacturers instructions.
To clean off melted man-made fibres set the
iron at 3 dot position and pass it over a clean
piece of cotton which will draw the deposit off
the surface.
To clean the exterior
Allow the steam generator to cool and wipe
over with a damp cloth and mild detergent,
then wipe with a dry cloth.
Vertical steam
Hold the iron in a vertical position between
1 cm and 2 cm away from the item . Press
the steam button , this will create vertical
steam. This feature is especially useful for
removing creases from hanging clothes,
curtains, wall hangings, etc.

your iron.
1Slide out the water tank and remove the
anti-scale cartridge .
2Empty the water in the tank
by holding it upside down .
3Replace the anti-scale cartridge and
reinstall the water tank.
Unplug the generator and leave the iron to
cool off for 15 minutes minimum. The iron must
be placed on the iron rest plate.
