Fahl LARYVOX® MY EXTRA HME MEDIUM is a filter for heat and moisture exchange that can be used to replace nasal respiration. Below you will find brief information about the capabilities of the device:

  • The filter warms, humidifies and filters the breathing air to prevent irritation of the airways due to dry air, dust or other harmful substances.
  • It helps to reduce coughing and the production of mucous after surgery and it can alleviate the symptoms of increased mucous production and coughing in tracheotomised/laryngectomised patients.
  • You can choose between four different versions of the filter, to suit your individual activities and needs:

You are laryngectomised and regularly wear
HME filters? You are brave and do not hide
your tracheostoma? The new LARYVOX®
MY EXTRA HME filter is definitely the right
choice for all self-confident laryngectomised
patients! Test our colourful MY EXTRA HME.
The product and filter properties are identical
to those of the classic LARYVOX® EXTRA
HME. The only difference is the colour.
FILTERING - WARMING - HUMIDIFYING
The regular use of HME filters is re-
commended to compensate for the loss
of nasal respiration. This filter is used for
heat and moisture exchange and filters
the breathing air to prevent irritation of
the airways due to dry air, dust or harmful
substances contained in the breathing
air. After surgery, tracheotomised/laryng-
ectomised patients frequently suffer from
increased production of mucous and
coughing. These symptoms can impair
breathing and voice rehabilitation. Regular
use of HME filter cassettes alleviates the
symptoms through reduction of viscous
secretions in the airways and enhances the
quality of life.
The filter cassette is intended for single use
only and must be replaced at the latest after
24 hours. LARYVOX® MY EXTRA HME can be
worn both during the day and at night.
EASY SPEAKING OPTION FOR PATIENTS
WITH SHUNT VALVES
The LARYVOX® MY EXTRA HME is equipped
with an easy-to-operate speaking option for
patients with a shunt valve.
The rounded recess in the lid of LARYVOX®
MY EXTRA HME additionally facilitates de-
liberate closure of the tracheostoma and
renders the optimal finger position easy to
feel. By exerting slight finger pressure on the
HME lid, the patient is able to accomplish a
very precise closure of the tracheostoma,
for instance for speaking. The device can be
operated even through clothing covering it.
FILTERS TO MEET YOUR NEEDS
By virtue of four different versions, the
LARYVOX® MY EXTRA HME can be selected to
suit individual activities and needs:
Normal normal breathing resistance for
situations requiring normal phy-
sical activity
Medium medium breathing resistance for
physical activities
HighFlow reduced breathing resistance for
situations requiring strong physi-
cal exertion
Sport very low respiratory resistance
specifically for sporting activities

CONFIGURATION
EASE OF USE
Lateral breathing apertures enable largely
unhindered air flow even if the cassette
is covered with clothing or additional
tracheostoma protection material, thus
enabling easy breathing. The HME filter
cassette can be attached to all conventional
base plates (e.g. LARYVOX® Tape) or silicone
tracheostomy tubes for laryngectomised
patients (e.g. LARYNGOTEC®) with a 22 mm
adapter (KOMBI). A finger ledge on the
housing enables easy handling and quick
removal of the LARYVOX® MY EXTRA HME
filter cassette from the holding ring, thereby
facilitating expectoration and tracheostoma
care.
NO UNPLEASANT BACKGROUND NOISES
The HME lid and housing are optimally
matched to each other through a special
closure mechanism. The HME is thus sealed
particularly tightly, preventing unintentional
air loss from the side of the HME. Unpleasant
side noises are reduced.
YOUR OWN DESIGN
You can now create your own personal
MY EXTRA HME. To do this, first select your
filter: Normal, Medium, High-Flow or Sport.
You can then determine the colour of the
housing and the speech button (lid) and mix
and match the colours.
You can choose from 23 different colours
and over 500 different colour combinations.
The colours of the cover and housing can
be combined in any combination. This gives
you the option to choose your HME daily to
go with your clothes.
