Two (2) “AA” size batteries can also be used to
provide a backup for the clock and alarm time
for this unit as follows:
1. Open the battery door by pushing in on the
tab, then removing the door.
2. Insert two (2) “AA” batteries as shown.
Alkaline batteries are recommended for the
longest playing time.
3. Place the battery door back on the
compartment.
NOTES:
• The batteries are used to back-up the clock time, alarm time and radio
presets when the AC cord is disconnected or there is a power failure.

POWER SOURCE
AC CONNECTION
Insert the AC plug (with the 2 blades) into
aconveniently-located AC outlet having
120V, 60Hz.
NOTE: The AC plug supplied with the
unit is polarized to help minimize the
possibility of electric shock. If the AC plug
does not fit into a nonpolarized AC outlet,
do not file or cut the wide blade. It is the user’s responsibility to have an
electrician replace the obsolete outlet.

When the unit is operating on AC power, the LCD backlight will always be on.

BATTERY INSTALLATION
BATTERY PRECAUTIONS
Follow these precautions when using batteries in this device:
1. Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
2. Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries as
indicated in the Battery Compartment. A reversed battery may cause
damage to the device.
3. Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. Alkaline, Carbon-
zinc or Rechargeable) or old batteries with fresh ones.
4. If the device is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the
batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.
5. Do not try to recharge a battery not intended to be recharged; it can
overheat and rupture. (Follow battery manufacturer’s directions.)

OPTIONAL CONNECTION
VIDEO OUT JACK (Rear of Unit)
(For iPod®Photo & iPod®with Video [5th
generation] only; not for iPod®nano or
other iPod®models.)
If you are using an iPod®that has
photo/video capability, and your TV has a
Video input, you can connect the Mi4002 to
the external TV with a Video cable. You will
then be able to view the photos/videos from
the iPod®on your external TV.
NOTES:
• Set the TV’s TV/VIDEO button or switch to the VIDEO setting.
• When connecting the Mi4002, refer to the owner’s manual of the TV,
as well as this manual.
• When connecting the Mi4002 to the TV, make sure the power is off
and both units are unplugged before making any connections.
• Make sure to go into the Settings menu of your iPod®and set the
TV Out setting to ON; otherwise, you may not be able to view the
videos/photos on your external TV. Also, the TV signal must be set
to NTSC.

INSERTING AN IPOD®
Locate the correct iPod®Adapter to use
as shown on pages 16-17. Insert the
adapter into the cavity (as shown),
making sure the tabs are facing front,
and slip the tabs into place.

Press the rear side of the adapter until it
is positioned inside the cavity.
NOTE: To remove the adapter, insert
your finger (or other object) into the
adapter, then gently pull the adapter out
to remove it.

If using the dock:Insert the iPod®onto
the dock. Gently push down so the
connector on the iPod®slides onto the
connector on the Mi4002. If the Mi4002 is
turned off, once you connect the iPod®,it
will start charging the battery until it is full.
If the Mi4002 is turned on and in
AM/FM/AUX IN mode, once the iPod®is
connected, press the iPod®button to
switch to iPod®mode and then playback
will begin automatically. Then, if you
disconnect the iPod®,the Mi4002 will stay
in iPod®mode until manually switched to
AM/FM/AUX IN mode. When the iPod®is
connected to the Mi4002, it will be in the
Pause mode.

If using the AUX IN jack:Insert an
audio cable (not included) into the AUX
OUT jack on your player and the other
end into the AUX IN jack on the rear of
the Mi4002. Press the POWER button
to turn this unit on, then press the
RADIO/AUX IN button to select the AUX
IN mode. The external player’s output
sound will be heard through the
Mi4002's speakers. If you disconnect
the external unit from the AUX IN jack,
the Mi4002 will stay in AUX IN mode
until manually switched to AM/FM/iPod®
mode.

NOTES:
•CHARGING: When the iPod®is inserted into the dock, whether the Mi4002
is on or off, the iPod’s®battery will charge until it is full.
•CHANGING THE MODE: If units are connected to the dock AND the AUX IN
jack, you can press the iPod®button to select iPod®(dock) or the
RADIO/AUX IN button to select AUX IN. To turn off the unit, press the
POWER button.

With an iPod®connected (see previous
page), turn the Mi4002 on by pressing
the POWER button (if it is not on
already); the iPod®icon will appear in
the display if the unit is in the iPod®
mode.
NOTE: If the Mi4002 is in a mode other
than iPod®,press the iPod®button to
select iPod®mode.

Operate the iPod®as per its
owner’s manual and the sound will
be heard through the Mi4002’s

USING AN IPOD®WITH THIS UNIT
NOTES:
•When the iPod®is inserted into the
dock, you can press the TUNE
Up/Down/Skip n/obuttons to
skip to the beginning of the current
track/previous or next track. You
can also press the
PLAY/PAUSE/M-UP button to
pause/resume playback.
• You can select an EQ setting by
pressing the EQ button to cycle
through CLASSIC, JAZZ, ROCK
and POP. (You can use this feature
in all other modes, as well.)
• The default volume setting level is
18. After you have adjusted the
volume setting, if you turn the unit
offand then on again, the volume
level will be set back to the default
level of 18.

Power button; “AUX” or the AM/FM
frequency will appear in the display.

If “AUX” appears, press the RADIO/AUX
IN button 1to select AM/FM. Then press
the BAND button 2repeatedly to select
the desired band (AM or FM).
NOTE: If an FM station is broadcasting in
stereo, “FM ST” will appear in the display.

Repeatedly press the TUNE
Up/Down/Skip n/obuttons to manually
advance the frequency in the display up
or down until the desired frequency
appears.
For auto tuning, press and hold the
TUNE Up/Down/Skip n/obuttons until
the frequency in the display starts to scan
and then release; the tuner will search
and then stop on the next strong station it
finds. Repeat this step until the desired
frequency appears in the display.
NOTE: When a station is tuned, after five
seconds, the radio frequency will
disappear and the actual time will
reappear in the display.If you press the
DISPLAYbutton, the radio frequency will
appear for five seconds in the display
again.

Radio, follow the instructions on page
9to tune a station. When the alarm
time is reached, the unit will turn on the
band (AM or FM) and the frequency
that you selected. To wake to Buzzer,
when the alarm time is reached, the
unit will alarm for buzzer.

To wake to iPod®,insert the iPod®as
shown on page 7. Select iPod®mode
by pressing the iPod®button. Then
select the track that you would like to
wake to. When the alarm time is
reached, the unit will start playback on
the track that you selected and the
tracks following it in the playlist. The
Mi4002 will playback for 60 minutes
then turn off automatically or, if the
remaining playlist has less than 60
minutes of playback time remaining,
the Mi4002 will just playback the
remaining time of the playlist and then
stop.

TO SET OR RESET THE ALARM TIME
Within 3 seconds, press and hold
the ALARM 1 button 1/ALARM 2
button 2again until the hour blinks
in the display. Press the TUNE
Up/Down/Skip n/obuttons 3to
set the alarm hour. (The alarm time
will be in “12H” or “24H” mode
depending on which you selected
when you set the clock. If in”12H”
mode, make sure to set the correct
AM/PM setting.)

NOTES:
• It is not necessary to set the volume level for the alarm. When the alarm
time is reached, the alarm volume level will be set to the minimum and
it will increase one step every five seconds continuously until it reaches
Level 23.
• When the actual time matches the selected preset alarm time(s), if set
to Radio or Buzzer (the alarm indicator with or will blink), the
unit will automatically turn on for 60 minutes and then shut off. If set to
iPod®(the alarm indicator with will blink), the unit will start playback
on the track that you selected and the tracks following it in the playlist.
The unit will playback for 60 minutes then turn off automatically or, if the
remaining playlist has less than 60 minutes of playback time remaining,
the unit will just playback the remaining time of the playlist and then
stop and the alarm indicator will blink for the remaining time. (If an
iPod®isn't inserted into the unit, when the alarm time is reached, it will
wake to Radio even though wake to iPod®was selected.)
•TO SHUT OFF THE ALARM, see TO SHUT THE ALARM OFF section
on the next page.
• If both alarms are set, while the first alarm is alarming, you will need to
shut off the first alarm. Then, when the second alarm time is reached,
the second alarm will activated. Otherwise, the unit will just keep
alarming for the first alarm setting. After the first alarm sounds for 60
minutes, the second alarm will sound (if the second alarm is set for 60
minutes or more after the first alarm).
• Make sure you have disconnected the audio cable from the AUX IN jack
(rear of the unit); otherwise, there will be no sound when the actual time
matches the preset alarm time.

While the alarm is sounding, press the
SNOOZE/SLEEP button, the Alarm 1 or

With the unit in the AUX IN, iPod®or
Radio mode, press the SNOOZE/
SLEEP button; the SLEEP indicator and
"90" will appear in the display for three
seconds which indicates the unit will turn
off after 90 minutes. Repeatedly press
the SNOOZE/SLEEP button to select
the SLEEP time, between 10-90 minutes
(i.e., "20"–turns off automatically after 20
minutes, "30"–turns offautomatically
after 30 minutes, etc.). After five
seconds, the SLEEP time will disappear
from the display.

To view the remaining SLEEP time,
press the SNOOZE/SLEEP button once.
Repeatedly press the SNOOZE/SLEEP
button to decrease the SLEEP time;
each press will decrease the SLEEP
time by 10 minutes.
