Introduction

Read this important information carefully before you use the appliance and
save it for future reference.
Danger
- All type numbers except FC6142: Never vacuum up water or any other
liquid.
- Never vacuum up ammable substances or hot ashes.
- Never immerse the vacuum cleaner or the charger in water or any
other liquid.
Warning
- Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local
mains voltage before you connect the appliance.
- Do not use the vacuum cleaner or the charger if it is damaged.
- The charger and its adapter cannot be replaced. If the charger or its
adapter is damaged, the appliance must be discarded.
- The adapter contains a transformer. Do not cut off the adapter to
replace it with another plug, as this causes a hazardous situation.
- FC6142 only: Do not hold the appliance with the dust compartment
pointing upwards and do not tilt the appliance to one side when you
vacuum up liquids.
- FC6142 only: When you have used the appliance to vacuum up liquids,
empty and dry the dust compartment before you store the appliance in
the charger.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand
the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning
and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
- The plug must be removed from the socket-outlet before you clean or
maintain the appliance.
- This appliance contains batteries that are non-replaceable.

Caution
- Remove the adapter from the wall socket before you clean the charger.
- Only charge the vacuum cleaner with the charger supplied. During
charging, the adapter feels warm to the touch. This is normal.
- Always switch off the vacuum cleaner after use and when you charge it.

The voltage on the contact strips in the charger is low (max. 12 volts) and
therefore not dangerous.
- Never block the exhaust air openings during vacuuming.
- Always use the vacuum cleaner with the lter unit assembled.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, be careful when you drill holes in the
wall to attach the charger, especially close to a wall socket.
- Charge, store and use the appliance at a temperature between 5°C and
35°C.
- Do not dismantle or short-circuit the batteries. Protect the batteries
from re, heat and direct sunlight.
- Noise level: Lc = 81 dB(A)

Recycling
- This symbol means that this product shall not be disposed of with normal household waste
- (2012/19/EU) (Fig. 1).
- This symbol means that this product contains a built-in rechargeable battery which shall not be
disposed of with normal household waste (Fig. 2) (2006/66/EC). We strongly advise you to take
your product to an ofcial collection point or a Philips service center to have a professional
remove the rechargeable battery.
- Follow your country’s rules for the separate collection of electrical and electronic products
and rechargeable batteries. Correct disposal helps prevent negative consequences for the
environment and human health.

Removing the rechargeable batteries
Only remove the rechargeable battery when you discard the product. Before you remove the
battery, make sure that the product is disconnected from the wall socket and that the battery
is completely empty.
Take any necessary safety precautions when you handle tools to open the product and when
you dispose of the rechargeable battery.
Remove the rechargeable batteries in the following way.
1 Let the vacuum cleaner run until it stops.
Try to switch on the appliance again to check if the batteries are really empty. If the motor starts,
repeat the procedure.
2 Loosen and remove the screws. Open the vacuum cleaner (Fig. 3).
3 FC6149, FC6148 only: Put the motor unit with the batteries still attached in a large bowl
with 3 litres of water and 3 teaspoons of salt.
- Make sure the whole motor unit is immersed. Add more water and salt according to the above
proportion (1 teaspoon salt to 1 litre of water) if needed.
- Leave the motor unit and the batteries in the bowl for 24 hours.
4 Cut the connecting wires one by one and remove the batteries (Fig. 4).
