쐽 Your safety
Please make sure you familiarise yourself fully with
the way the device works before you use it for the
fi rst time and that you understand how to handle
electrical power tools correctly. Further details can
be found in the operating instructions
. In addi-
tion to the above, you must also strictly observe the
general safety advice contained in the accom-
panying booklet. Use the device only as described
and for the indicated purposes. By doing this you
will be able to work with a high level of safety and
produce better results. Keep these instructions in a
safe place. If you pass the electric scraper/carver
on to anyone else, please ensure that you also pass
on all the documentation.
쐽 Proper use
The device is suitable for removing and scraping
off coatings from small surfaces. It is also intended
for removing residues of adhesive, paint and
plaster fi ller, smoothing unevenness and carving
soft woods.
Any other use or modifi cation to the device shall
be considered as improper use and could give rise
to considerable dangers. The manufacturer will
not accept liability for loss or damage arising from
improper use. The electric scraper/carver is not
intended for commercial use.

To avoid danger to life from
electric shock:
· Do not operate the device if the mains lead or
mains plug is damaged.
Caution! A damaged mains lead presents a
serious danger to life from electric shock.
The service centre for your country is shown in
the guarantee documentation.
· Have repairs carried out only by an electrician

or the relevant service centre.
· Do not operate the device if it is damp and do
not use it in a damp environment.
· If you use the device outdoors, always connect
it through a residual current device with a
maximum trip current of 30 mA.
If using an extension lead, always use one that
is approved for outdoor use.
· Always work with the mains lead leading away
from the rear of the device.
To avoid danger of injury and
hazards to health:
·
Wear protective glasses. Pieces of
material may split off the workpiece
and become projectiles. This could cause injury.
· Do not work on moistened materials or damp
surfaces.
· Do not soak the materials or the surface you
are about to work on with liquids containing
solvents. The heat generated during scraping
can give rise to poisonous vapours or gases
that are hazardous to health.
· Secure the workpiece by holding it in a clamp
or vice, otherwise the workpiece cannot be
securely held in place and could cause injury.
· Do not work on materials containing asbestos.
· When working, always hold the device se-
curely with both hands (see Fig. B).
Never support yourself by placing your hands
near or in front of the device or the workpiece
surface. You could be injured if anything slips.
· Danger! The sharp edges of the tools could
cause injury.
·
Wear
protective gloves.
· Caution! Keep children away from the mains
lead and do not allow them to use the device.
Children often underestimate the dangers as-
sociated with electrical equipment.
Using the device safely:
· If danger arises, pull the mains plug immedi-
ately out of the mains socket.
· Never use the device for a purpose for which it
was not intended.
· Handle the device carefully and treat it with
respect. Always keep the device clean, dry and
free of oil or grease.
· Remain alert at all times! Always watch what
you are doing and proceed with caution. Do
not use the device if you cannot concentrate or
you are feeling unwell.

쐍 Danger! The sharp edges of the tools could
cause injury.
쐍 The choice of tool depends on the intended
task. The supplied accessories are suitable for
the most common tasks (see fi gures C, D, E
and F). Carry out a short test to determine the
best tool for the task.
1. Press the tool lock

3. Lock the tool attachment in place and press
the tool lock

forwards into the “Lock” posi-
tion.
쐍 Make sure you fi t the tool the right way round.

쐽 First use
The mains voltage at the mains socket must match
that shown on the rating plate on the device.
Devices marked with 230 V can also be operated
at 220 V.
Attention! When using the device, never allow the
ventilation slots to be covered.

Note: The device will not start its working action
until it is in contact with the material.

쐽 Preselecting the speed
The wheel

allows you control of the speed over
the full range available.
Setting 1 = slowest speed, e.g. for detailed
or precise tasks
Setting MAX. = fastest speed, for removing
material quickly
Note: The optimum speed depends on the material
and the surface to be worked. It is best determined
by a short practical test. Always begin by using the
slowest speed setting. If you fi nd that you are not
removing enough material, increase the speed by
one setting.
쐽 Advice on use
쐍 Warning! Always pull out the mains plug from
the socket:
- when you are no longer using the device
- when taking a break from your work
- before changing the tool attachment
- before cleaning the device
Caution! Keep other people out of your work-
ing area.
쐍 Always hold the workpiece fi rmly with both
hands (see Fig. B) and always work away from
your body.
쐍 Guide the switched on device slowly with
the tool attachment up to the material to be
worked or surface to be stripped. The device
will not begin its working action until it makes
contact with the material to be worked. This
allows you to position the tool exactly.
쐍 Begin at the fl attest possible angle and lightest
pressure.
쐍 Note that if you press on to backgrounds like
tiles, wood or plaster too hard you could dam-
age them.
쐍 The device and the tool attachment heat up
if used for long periods. Do not overload the
device and let it cool between sessions.
쐽 Resharpening tool attachments
Your tools must be sharp to achieve the best
results. You should therefore resharpen or regrind
them at the right time.
There are two ways of sharpening your tools:
1. with a bench grinder
(e.g. Parkside PDS 200):
쐍 Rotate the electric scraper/carver with an
inserted tool attachment through 180°.
쐍 Attention! Do not switch on the electric
scraper/carver.
왍 Make sure that no blue colour (annealed
colour) appears on the cutting edge during
resharpening, otherwise the hardness can be
adversely affected.
2. with a belt sander
(e.g. Parkside PEBS 900):
쐍 Mount the belt sander in a suitable stationary
holding device.
쐍 Rotate the electric scraper/carver with an
inserted tool attachment through 180°.
쐍 Attention! Do not switch on the electric
scraper/carver.
왍 Pay attention to the direction of motion of the
belt sander when resharpening.

쐽 Cleaning
Pull the mains lead out of the mains socket before
you clean the device.
쐍 Always keep the device clean, dry and free of
oil or grease.
쐍 Clean the tool holder regularly.
쐍 Clean the tool attachment so that it is free of
residues of adhesive or other contaminants.
쐍 Do not allow any liquids to enter the device.
Use a soft cloth to clean the housing. Never
use petrol, solvents or cleaning agents that
might attack plastic.
쐽 Disposal
The packaging consists entirely of environmental-
ly-friendly materials. It can be disposed of at your
local recycling facility.
Contact your local refuse disposal authority for
more details of how to dispose of your electric
scraper/carver.
