Before You Throw Away Your Old Freezer:

Starting the Freezer

1.Cleantheinsideofthefreezerwithamildsolutionof

bakingsodaandwater(seeCareandCleaning).

2. Connect cord to power outlet.

3.Makesurethetemperaturecontrolissetat4

(recommendedsetting)between1(leastcold)to7

(coldest).

4. Allow freezer to operate for at least 6 to 8 hours

before placing food inside.

Freezer Status Lights

GREEN: The green light is the indicator light and assures

you that your freezer is running. If the indicator light is

notglowing,immediatelycheckforpowerinterruption,

unplugged power cord, open circuit breaker, blown fuse,

or burned out indicator light. If the light is burned out,

contactserviceforareplacement.

Temperature Control Dial

Turn using a coin in the slot to adjust the freezer

temperaturebetween1and7.

Sliding Basket

Storesmallpackagesinthebaskettoavoidlosingthem

inthebottomofthefreezer.Thebasketcanbemoved

fromsidetosideoritcanberemovedwhenloadingor

unloading the food below it.

Toremovebasket,liftitstraightupandout.Toreplace

basket, lower basket back into place.

Recommended Grounding Method

Defrosting Instructions

USING THE FREEZER: DefrostingInstructions

Inmostclimates,defrostingwillbenecessaryonlyabout

twice a year.

Tohaveyourfreezeroperatemostefficiently,donot

permitmorethan1/4”(6mm)thicknessoffrost,on

average,toaccumulateonthewalls.

Toremovefrost,scrapewithaplasticorwoodspatulaor

scraper.

Donotuseboilingwaterasitmaydamagethefreezer.

For Complete Defrosting

1. TurnthetemperaturecontroltofarleftOFFsetting

and unplug the freezer.

2. Removeallfoodandplaceitincorrugatedboxes,

insulatedbags,picniccoolers,etc.Usetowelsand

newspapers for insulation as needed.

3. Placeatray(notincluded)infrontofthefreezer,

beneaththeexteriordrainplugtocollectthewater.

Removetheexteriordrainplugandtheinteriordrain

plug.Thisallowsthewatertoowoutintothetray.

4. Withthelidopen,youmaychoosetousepansof

hottapwater(lessthan120°F)tospeeddefrosting.

Directingairfromanelectricfanintothefreezerwill

alsohelp.Donotplacefanoranyelectricaldevicein

thefreezer.Removelargepiecesbeforetheymelt.

5. Wipewaterfromwallswithatowelorsponge.

6. Afterdefrosting,cleantheinsideofthefreezer(see

CareandCleaning).

7. Replacethedrainplugs.

8. Plug in the freezer. Return

thetemperaturecontroltoits

previouspositionandreturn

food to the freezer.

Cleaning Your Freezer

■Outside. Protect the paint finish. The finish on the

outsideofthefreezerisahighquality,baked-onpaint

finish.Withpropercare,itwillstaynew-lookingand

rust-freeforyears.Applyacoatofappliancepolish

waxwhenthefreezerisnewandthenatleasttwicea

year.Appliancepolishwaxalsoworkswelltoremove

taperesiduefromfreezersurfaces.

Keep the finish clean. Wipe with a clean cloth

lightlydampenedwithappliancepolishwaxormild

liquiddishwashingdetergent.Dryandpolishwith

aclean,softcloth.Donotwipethefreezerwitha

soileddishwashingclothorwettowel.Donotuse

scouring pads, powdered cleaners, bleach, or cleaners

containing bleach.

NOTICE: Careshouldbetakeninmovingthefreezer

awayfromthewall.Alltypesoffloorcoveringscanbe

damaged,particularlycushionedcoveringsandthose

withembossedsurfaces.

■Inside. Clean the inside of your freezer at least once

ayear.Werecommendthatthefreezerbeunplugged

beforecleaning.Ifthisisnotpractical,wringexcess

moistureoutofspongeorclothwhencleaninginthe

vicinityofswitches,lightsorcontrols.

 Usewarmwaterandbakingsodasolution–abouta

tablespoonofbakingsodatoaquartofwater.Rinse

thoroughlywithwaterandwipedry.Donotuse

cleaningpowdersorotherabrasivecleaners.DONOT

washremovablepartsinadishwasher.

 Anopenboxofbakingsodainthefreezerwillabsorb

stalefreezerodors.Changetheboxeverythree

months.

CAUTION Dampobjectssticktocoldmetal

surfaces.DONOTtouchinteriormetalsurfaceswith

wetordamphands.

In Case of Extended Power Failure

■Keepfreezerlidclosed.Yourfreezerwillkeepfood

frozenfor24hoursprovidedwarmairisnotadmitted.

■Iffreezerisoutofoperationfor24hoursormore,add

dryice.Leaveiceinlargepieces.Addmoreiceas

required.

CAUTION Handling of dry ice can cause

freezingofthehands—glovesorotherprotectionis

recommended.

■Ifdryiceisnotavailable,movefoodtoafrozenfood

lockertemporarily—untilpowerisrestored.

Preparing to Move

Tomaintainfreezerinoperationduringvacations,

besureyourhousepowerisnotturnedoff.Forsure

protectionoffreezercontents,youmaywanttoask

a neighbor to check the power supply and freezer

operationevery24hours.

Forextendedvacationsorabsences,youmaypreferto

moveyourfrozenfoodstoastoragelockertemporarily.

Ifyourfreezeristobeleftempty,disconnectpowercord

plugfromwalloutlet.Topreventformationofodors,

placeopenboxofbakingsodainfreezerandleave

freezer lid open.

Save Money and Energy

■Thefreezershouldbelocated

inthecoolestareaoftheroom,

awayfromheat-producing

appliances or heating ducts,

and out of direct sunlight.

■Lethotfoodscooltoroom

temperaturebeforeplacinginthe

freezer.Overloadingthefreezerforcesthecompressor

torunlonger.Foodsthatfreezetooslowlymaylose

qualityorspoil.

■Besuretowrapfoodsproperly,andwipecontainers

drybeforeplacingtheminthefreezer.Thiscutsdown

on frost buildup inside the freezer.

■Freezerbasketsshouldnotbelinedwithaluminum

foil,waxpaperorpapertowels.Linersinterferewith

coldaircirculation,makingthefreezerlessefficient.

■Organizeandlabelfoodtoreducelidopeningsand

extendedsearches.Removeasmanyitemsas

neededatonetime,andclosethelidassoonas

possible.

Read these instructions completely and carefully.

Freezer Location

Yourfreezershouldbeconvenientlylocatedfor

day-to-dayuseinadry,well-ventilatedroom.

Donotinstallthefreezerwherethetemperaturewillgo

below0°F(-18°C)orabove110°F(43°C),becauseitwill

notmaintainpropertemperatures.

Donotinstallthefreezerinalocationexposedtorain

water or direct sunlight.

Besuretoinstallyourfreezeronafloorstrongenough

to support it when it is fully loaded.

Level Freezer

Levelthefreezerfromsidetosideandfronttoback

sothatthelidwillsealproperly.Useshimstolevelthe

freezer if necessary.

NOTE: Itshouldnotbenecessarytoremovethelid

duringinstallation.If,forsomereason,thehingesneed

adjustment,callaprofessionalservicecompany..

Clearances and Ventilation

Allowatleast2”(50.8mm)clearanceonbothsidesof

thefreezerand2”(50.8mm)betweenthebackofthe

freezerandthewall.Leaveroomabovethefreezerto

open the lid.

Keepflammablematerialsandvapors,suchasgasoline,

awayfromfreezer.

Donotcoverthefreezerwithitemssuchasblankets,

sheets, tablecloths, etc. This reduces air circulation.

Lid Removal

Thelidisheavy.Usebothhandstosecurethelidbefore

lifting.

Ifitisnecessarytoremovethelid,followthesesteps:

1.Removethelowerpartofthehingecoverandthen

removetheupperpart.

2.Openthelidtothemaximumposition.(Thehingesare

loosestatthisposition.)

3.Removethe4screwsfromtheupperpartofthehinge

and lid.

4.Toreinstalllidfollowstepsinreverse.Tightenall

hingescrewsbutavoidover-tighteningtoprevent

3. Placezunplateau(noninclus)devantlecongélateur,sous

lebouchondevidangeextérieurpourrecueillirl'eau.Retirez

lebouchondevidangeextérieuretlebouchondevidange

intérieur.Celapermetàl'eaudes'écoulerdanslebac.

4. Aveclecouvercleouvert,vouspouvezchoisird’utiliserune

casseroled’eauchaudedurobinet(moinsde49°C/120

Emplacement du congélateur

Votrecongélateurdoitêtreinstalléàunendroitpratique,en

vued’uneutilisationquotidienne,dansunepiècebienaéréeoù

l’airestsec.

N’installezpasvotrecongélateurdansl’endroitoùla

températureestau-dessousde0°F(-18°C)ouan-dessusde

110°F(43°C)parcequ’ilnemaintiendrapaslestempératures

appropriées.

N’installezpaslecongélateurdansunendroitexposéàl’eau

depluieouauxrayonsdirectsdusoleil.

Assurez-vousqueleplanchersurlequelserainstallévotre

congélateurestsuffisammentsolidepourlesupporterlorsqu’il

estplein.

Mettez le congélateur de niveau

Mettezlecongélateurdeniveau,entreladroiteetlagauche

ainsiqu’entrel’avantetl’arrièrepourquelecouvercleseferme

correctement.Utilisezdescalespourmettrelecongélateurde

niveau si nécessaire.

REMARQUE :Ilnedevraitpasêtrenécessairederetirerle

couverclependantl’installation.Si,pourquelqueraisonquece

Dégagements et ventilation

Laissezunespaced’aumoins2po(50.8mm)desdeux

côtésducongélateuretde2po(50.8mm)entrel’arrièredu

congélateuretlemur.Laissezassezdeplaceau-dessusdu

congélateurpourouvrirlecouvercle.

Conservezlesmatériauxetvapeursinflammablestelsque

l’essenceàl’écartdevotrecongélateur.

Necouvrezpaslecongélateuravecdesobjetstelsque

couvertures,draps,nappesouautres.Celaréduitlacirculation

del’air.

2.Ouvrezlecouvercleaumaximum.(Lescharnièressont

moinsserréesdanscetteposition.)

3. Retirezles4visdelapartiesupérieuredelacharnièreet

du couvercle.

4.Pourreposerlecouvercle,suivezlesétapesdansl’ordre

inverse.Serreztouteslesvisdecharnièremaisévitezde

tropserrerpournepasfausserlefiletage.Reposezles

couverclesdecharnière.
