SENSTAR BR100 is a microwave sensor designed to detect intrusions in outdoor areas. It uses advanced microwave technology to create a virtual detection zone that can be customized to fit your specific needs. Units that are separated by 50 m (164 ft.) or less, should be mounted
with a 5º pitch toward the ground.

The BR100 system requires a straight, flat detection zone, free of
standing or running water, as well as obstacles and depressions.
For the highest level of detection sensitivity and the narrowest beam-width,
the terrain must be level to grade ± 7.5 cm (3 in.) and the surface must be
free of vegetation and either paved, or covered with a 10 cm (4 in.) layer
of crushed stone (2 cm {0.75 in.} max.).
The following separation distances are the minimum requirements. Certain
objects with large cross sections such as loose fences and large sheets of
metal (e.g. a tractor trailer) require additional clearance. For this kind of
obstacle, double the recommended separation distance.
The height of the microwave field at midspan is approximately equal to
half of the minimum required clearance between the beam centerline
and an object, plus the unit mounting height.
There are two recommended mounting heights for the BR100 55 cm (22 in.)
or 95 cm (37 in.). Both units must be mounted at the same height.
For a double-stacked configuration the recommended mounting heights
are 55 cm (22 in.) for the lower pair and 130 cm (51 in.) for the upper pair.
The offset area for a 55 cm mounting height is approximately 3 m (10 ft.)
and for a 95 cm mounting height the offset is approximately 5 m (16.4 ft.).

Introduction
This document provides an overview of BR100 installation. Refer to
the BR100 Product Guide and the UCM help file for complete
details on installing, setting up, and calibrating the BR100 sensor.
Installing a BR100 microwave sensor is a four step process:
1) Design the system, and obtain the components.
2) Prepare the infrastructure and zone.
3) Install the transmitter and receiver.
4) Setup, calibrate and test the system.
The BR100 system includes a transmitter unit and a receiver unit,
which are usually post-mounted. Windows based Universal Configuration
Module (UCM) software is required to setup and calibrate the sensor.
Optional components include network communication accessories.

Pass the gear clamp through the two slots in the mounting bracket.

Using an 8 mm (5/16 in.) nut driver or socket, secure the gear clamp to
the mounting post with the BR100 unit at the specified mounting height.

Using an 11 mm (7/16 in.) wrench, attach the mounting bracket to
the BR100 unit with the supplied hardware.

Ensure the receiver and transmitter are aimed directly at each other
for surface mount applications. If necessary, use shims to make
minor horizontal alignment adjustments.
1. Verify that each unit is at the correct mounting height, and that they are
both aimed directly at each other.
2. Connect the UCM to the receiver and note the displayed RSSI value.
3. Adjust the receiver’s mounting height (max. ± 5 cm) and if required, the
horizontal and vertical alignment slightly to attain the maximum RSSI.
4. Measure the change in the receiver’s mounting height and adjust the
height of the transmitter to 1/2 the change.
5. Adjust the height of the receiver to the same height as the transmitter.
6. Adjust the horizontal and vertical alignment of the transmitter unit slightly
to determine if the received signal can be increased.
7. Adjust the horizontal and vertical alignment of the receiver unit slightly
to determine if the received signal can be increased.
8. Verify that the RSSI is higher or the same as it was in step 2

Installing the Universal Configuration Module
UltraWave BR100 setup is done, using Senstar’s Universal Configuration
Module (UCM). The UCM is a Windows-based software application that
performs the calibration, setup, maintenance and diagnostic functions for
Senstar’s line of intrusion detection sensors. The UCM connects directly
to the BR100 unit via micro-USB. Silver Network based microwave units
can also connect remotely via the Network Manager software.

The standard installation will place an icon on the desktop. Double-click
the UCM icon to sart the UCM application.
If the installation program does not auto-start, use Windows explorer
to locate and start Setup.exe.
To install the UCM application, insert the installation CD into the
appropriate drive on the computer and follow the prompts.
It is strongly recommended that the UCM computer be a portable
computer (e.g. a lap-top or notebook).
The initial setup should be done at the microwave unit’s location using a
direct USB connection to the UCM.
Connecting the UCM
Open the enclosure cover and connect the UCM computer to the
UltraWave BR100 unit via USB (T6).
Start the UCM software (the UCM Connect dialog displays):

The following setup and calibration activities must be conducted before
the UltraWave BR100 system can operate:
The RS-422 wiring connections are made on 45º spring terminals. The
spring terminals accept wire sizes from 16 to 24 AWG with a 9 mm
(0.35 in.) strip length.
Network wiring connections (RS-422)
Use single point grounding. Connect one end of the RS-422 cable’s shield
to ground. Trim back the shield at the other end of the cable and leave it
disconnected.

Pull the network cable into the enclosure.
Using a 9/64 hex key, open the unit’s cover.
For Ethernet, terminate the cable with an RJ-45 plug.

Make the appropriate wiring connections (Ethernet or RS-422).

Remove the mounting bracket and mark the 2 mounting holes on the
mounting surface with the top of the bracket at the specified height.
Drill two holes in the mounting surface.
Attach the BR100 unit to the mounting bracket.

Ethernet (PoE)
T4 is the power input and both BR100 units operate on 12 to 48 VDC.
The 45º spring terminals accept wire sizes from 16 to 24 AWG with a
9 mm (0.35 in.) strip length.
NOTE: Use a DC power supply or PoE; not both.
For PoE the BR100 is an 802.3af class 1 device.

NOTE: The BR100 transmitter and receiver units are virtually identical.

CAUTION: The 9/64 hex screws securing the enclosure cover are
installed finger-tight to prevent damaging the gasket and inserts. DO NOT
