Wichtige Hinweise

• Lagern Sie Ersatz-Filterkartuschen immer originalversiegelt an

einem kühlen und trockenen Ort.

• BRITA Filterkartuschen dürfen nur mit Leitungswasser verwendet

werden, welches von den Wasserwerken bereitgestellt wird.

Grundsätzlich erfüllt das Leitungswasser die gesetzlichen

Anforderungen an die Trinkwasserqualität. Im Falle einer offiziellen

Aufforderung zum Abkochen des Leitungswassers gilt diese auch

für BRITA gefiltertes Wasser. Nach Ende der Aufforderung bitte die

komplette Wasserfiltereinheit in Ihrem Kühlschrank reinigen und

eine neue Kartusche einsetzen.

• Bitte filtern Sie nur kaltes Leitungswasser.

• Wasserfiltereinheit (Wassertank und Trichter) regelmäßig säubern.

• Denken Sie daran, dass generell empfohlen wird, Leitungswasser

für bestimmte Personengruppen (zum Beispiel immungeschwächte

Menschen, Babys) abzukochen. Dies gilt auch für gefiltertes

Wasser. Unabhängig vom verwendeten Wasser sollten Sie zum

Abkochen Geräte mit Heizelementen aus Edelstahl verwenden.

Insbesondere Personen, die empfindlich auf Nickel reagieren,

sollten darauf achten.

• Aus hygienischen Gründen wird das Filtermaterial der Kartusche

einer speziellen Behandlung mit Silber unterzogen. Eine geringe

Menge Silber kann an das Wasser abgegeben werden. Diese steht

im Einklang mit den Empfehlungen der Weltgesundheitsorganisation

(WHO). Es kann jedoch allenfalls zu einer Überschreitung der im

Codex Alimentarius Austriacus genannten Werte kommen.

• Während des Filterns kommt es anfänglich zu einer leichten

Erhöhung des Kaliumgehalts. Allerdings enthält ein Liter BRITA

gefiltertes Wasser weniger Kalium als z. B. ein Apfel! Sollten Sie

nierenkrank sein und/oder eine spezielle Kaliumdiät einhalten

müssen, empfehlen wir Ihnen eine vorherige Abstimmung mit Ihrem

Arzt.

• Bei Urlaub oder längerer Nichtnutzung entnehmen Sie die

Kartusche, gießen Sie vorhandenes Wasser vollständig aus und

setzen Sie die Kartusche locker wieder in den leeren Trichter der

Wasserfiltereinheit. BRITA empfiehlt nach Ihrer Rückkehr einen

Filterkartuschenwechsel. Vor erneuter Benutzung der

Wasserfiltereinheit nehmen Sie die Kartusche aus dem Trichter,

reinigen diesen und die gesamte Wasserfiltereinheit gründlich und

wiederholen Sie die Schritte 1 bis 3 der Gebrauchsanweisung.

• BRITA gefiltertes Wasser ist ein für den menschlichen Gebrauch

bestimmtes Lebensmittel. Verwenden Sie es innerhalb von

1–2Tagen.

• Wie jedes Naturprodukt unterliegen die Bestandteile des MAXTRA

MicroporeFilters natürlichen Schwankungen. Diese können zu

leichtem Abrieb kleiner Kohlepartikel ins gefilterte Wasser führen,

die als schwarze Partikel wahrgenommen werden können. Diese

Partikel beeinträchtigen nicht Ihre Gesundheit. Werden sie

verschluckt, so verlassen sie den Körper unverändert auf dem

natürlichen Wege. Sollten Sie Kohlepartikel in Ihrem gefilterten

Wasser entdecken, empfehlen wir, die Kartusche zu spülen, bis der

Partikelaustritt abgeklungen ist.

• Wir bitten um Verständnis dafür, dass wir jede Haftung und

Gewährleistung ablehnen müssen, wenn Sie unsere Empfehlungen

zum Gebrauch und Wechsel der BRITA Filterkartusche nicht

beachten.

All water is not the same

The water supply companies make drinking water available as a

basic foodstuff. It is subject to stringent controls and complies with

high standards. However, irrespective of treatment, the natural origin

of a water supply means it may contain different elements such as

chlorine, limescale and differing mineral content. Thanks to the

The MAXTRA filter cartridge in your fridge will provide you with

BRITA filtered water with optimised taste and smell for cold drinks or

ice cubes so that your drinks will taste better and more natural.

Why filter tap water?

Tap water is perfectly safe. But it does not always taste, look or smell as good as many of us would like. Impurities that affect

your tap water’s taste, odour, and colour include, for example, chlorine and organic compounds. Apart from these substances,

the BRITA filter cartridge reduces limescale (carbonate hardness), metals (like lead and copper) and certain pesticides.

BRITAwill provide you and your family with cleaner, clearer and great tasting drinking water.

filter cartridge

Little effort – great result: Preparation of your BRITA cartridge is very simple.

Please follow the three steps below to enjoy BRITA filtered water (see pictures on page 83):

Step 1: Preparing the cartridge

To prepare your BRITA MAXTRA

cartridge, please remove protective

wrapper (note: cartridge and inside

wrapper may appear moist, this is

simply condensation). Immerse

cartridge in cold water and shake it

gently to remove any air bubbles. Note:

As is required for some other water

filter cartridges, there is no need to

pre-soak the MAXTRA cartridge.

Step 2: Insert in the water tank

Before inserting the cartridge, remove

the funnel and clean it thoroughly by

rinsing it and wiping it dry. Then

thoroughly clean the inside of the water

tank with a damp cloth and wipe it dry

as well. Now insert the filter cartridge

firmly in the cartridge housing of the

funnel in the water tank. The cartridge

should stay in place if the funnel is

turned upside down.

Step 3: Rinse cartridge

Take the funnel out of the BRITA water

filter unit, fill it under the tap with cold

tap water and allow it to filter through.

Discard the first two fillings into the

sink or use the water for your plants.

These first two fillings are used to

flush the filter cartridge. Then place

the funnel back into the unit and refill

the funnel. Now the unit is ready for

use.

Remove cartridge with ring pull

To exchange the cartridge, simply use

the ring pull handle on the top of the

cartridge to remove it from the funnel,

and repeat steps 1–3 above.

If you have not used all the filtered water in the water tank within 1–2 days, please discard any water left inside the BRITA water filter unit

before refilling it. BRITA recommends that you thoroughly clean the complete unit (funnel and water tank) regularly. Please note that the

BRITA Memo on top of the water tank lid is not dishwasher proof. Always make sure that you have MAXTRA spare cartridges to hand.

Whenbuying new cartridges, look for the BRITA MAXTRA filter on the cartridge packaging.

Memo

For maximum filter performance and for optimum taste, it is

important to change your BRITA cartridge regularly.

BRITA Memo automatically reminds you when to

change the cartridge

The BRITA Memo measures the recommended time of use of your

cartridge. Memo is easy to use and automatically reminds you

when to change your cartridge. The BRITA Memo is located on the

lid of the water tank. Operation is really simple (see pictures on

page 83):

• Start the Memo display:

To start Memo, please press and hold down the start button on the

lid until all four bars appear in the display and flash twice. The

Memo is now set.

• Functional control:

The flashing dot in the bottom right corner of the Memo indicates

that the Memo is working.

• Change display:

The bars in the display will disappear, thus indicating the remaining

cartridge life. Please change your MAXTRA cartridge when all four

bars have disappeared and the arrow starts to flash. Insert a new

cartridge according to the instructions and reactivate the Memo as

described above.

Note:

When only one bar is showing, you should just check whether you have a new BRITA MAXTRA filter cartridge to hand.

Important: The Memo is only designed to be used with BRITA filter cartridges.

BRITA Memo

The cartridge exchange indicator has a life of approximately five years. At the end of the Memo’s life, please remember that this device must

be disposed of according to all applicable provisions and regulations. To remove the exhausted Memo place a screwdriver in the notch next

to the Memo and push it out. Please note that Memo should not be removed for any other reason than to dispose of it.

Important information

• Always store spare filter cartridges sealed in the original packaging

in a cool dry place.

• BRITA water filters are designed for use only with municipally

treated tap water (note: this water is constantly controlled and

according to legal regulations safe to drink) or with water from

private supplies that has been tested as safe to drink. If an

instruction is received from the authorities that mains water must

be boiled, the BRITA filtered water must also be boiled. When the

instruction to boil water is no longer in force, the entire BRITA

water filter unit in your fridge must be cleaned and a new cartridge

inserted.

• Please filter cold tap water only.

• Clean the unit (water tank and funnel) regularly.

• For certain groups of people (e.g. those with impaired immunity and

for babies), it is generally recommended that tap water should be

boiled; this also applies to filtered water. Irrespective of the water

used, you should use utensils with stainless steel. This product of

our BRITA partner meets these requirements. In particular, people

who are sensitive to nickel should use appliances with elements

made of stainless steel.

• For hygiene reasons, the MAXTRA cartridge contents are subject to

special treatment with silver. A very small amount of silver may be

transferred to the water. This transference would be within the

World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.

• During the filtering process, there may be a slight increase in

potassium content. However, one litre of BRITA filtered water

contains less potassium than e.g. an apple. If you have kidney

disease and/or follow a potassium-restricted diet, we recommend

that you consult your doctor before using a BRITA water filter.

• Should your BRITA water filter unit in your fridge not be in use for a

prolonged period (e.g. vacation), BRITA recommends that you take

out the cartridge, discard any water left inside the unit and loosely

insert the MAXTRA cartridge again. Before using the water filter

unit again, take out the cartridge, clean the unit (water tank and

funnel) thoroughly, and repeat steps 1 to 3 of the instructions for

use.

• BRITA filtered water is dedicated for human consumption. It is a

perishable food and, as such, please consume within one to two

days.

• Like each natural product, the consistency of the BRITA

MicroporeFilter is subject to natural variances. This can lead to a

slight abrasion of small carbon particles into your filtered water,

noticeable as black bits. These particles have no negative health

effects. If ingested, they will not harm the human body. In case you

observe carbon particles, BRITA recommends to flush the cartridge

several times or until the black bits disappear.

• BRITA cannot accept responsibility or liability if you do not respect

our recommendations for the use and exchange of the BRITA filter

cartridge.
