SSP 4000 Series Check Valves Maintenance Instructions

  • I've reviewed the maintenance instructions for the SSP 4000 Series Ball Check Valve. This document details the disassembly, reassembly, and lubrication procedures, focusing on seal replacement and proper torque application. I'm ready to assist with any questions you have about maintaining your ball check valve based on these instructions.
  • What should you do before removing the valve for maintenance?
Which parts should be discarded during disassembly?
What is the torque specification for 1/4" check valves?
What is the torque specification for 3/8" check valves?
1. Unscrew stem and remove from body.
(Attention: internal parts are lose and
may fall out once stem is removed).
2. Lubricate the seat O-Ring with a system-compatible
lubricant. Assemble the seat O-Ring into seat recess
on ball cage. Make sure seat O-Ring is uniformly seated.
Install ball cage into valve body, O-Ring end rst.
2. Remove the spring, ball, and ball cage from the
body. Save the spring and ball cage for reuse.
Discard the ball, seat O-Ring and stem O-Ring.
3. Place new ball into ball cage.
1. Ensure that all parts are clean and free of debris.
4. Lubricate the stem O-Ring with
a system-compatible lubricant.
Assemble the stem O-Ring over the
passage holes of the stem, fully seating
it in the radius of the stem. Be careful not
to roll the stem O-Ring which would cause
twisting and possible leaks.
6. Apply a system-compatible lubricant
to the threads of the stem. Insert stem
into the body and screw together. Torque
the assembly to 25-30 ft-lbs for 1/4” check
valves (3/4 Body Hex) and 55-60 ft-lbs for
3/8” check valves (7/8 or larger body Hex).
5. Insert the spring into the stem.
7. Test valve for proper operation
prior to installation in the system.
