General Warning
Due to the nature of e-Bikes, they should only be ridden by those ages 16 & older. Be sure you have
tested the e-Bike in a safe environment prior to use around automobile and/or pedestrian traffic. Always
check your equipment prior and during your ride and follow all information below for your safety.
Read the following information entirely before use.
The Manufacturer of Bofeili e-Bikes
The e-bikes are made by Suzhou Bofeili Electric Technology Co Ltd, established in August 2007 in
China, a high-tech enterprise integrating research and development, production and sale. The
company exports to countries throughout the world and employs around 100 staff, concentrating on the
development of electric bicycles and associated electronics. Suzhou Bofeili Electric Technology Co Ltd
commits itself to supplying high quality, highly reliable, cost effective products in a wide range of
industry solutions with technological innovation and product research in order to meet ever changing
market demands.
e-Bike General Use
The bike can be operated in 3 modes: Twist (thumb) throttle, pedal assist or pedal only.
1. Throttle mode comes in handy if you
are starting uphill, or do not want to pedal.
2. In pedal assist mode the bike senses
that you are pedaling (after 2 revolutions) and
starts to help you. 3 Levels of assistance can be
selected. In its highest assist setting, hardly any
user input is required.
3. No resistance from the motor at all
(freewheel clutch) when used as an ordinary
bike.

Safety First
e-Bike riding can be one of your most pleasurable experiences in the outdoors, but you should always
keep safety first.
Wear an approved bicycle helmet. e-Bikes can have speeds up to 20 mph on battery alone;
faster speeds can be achieved by pedaling in addition to the battery power. Unlimited number of
surface variables can cause you to lose control and crash. Watch out for loose rocks, glass, oil, excess
water, grates/man-hole-covers, broken pavement, etc. that can cause the tires friction loss.
Mechanical Safety Check
Routine inspection of the e-Bike and its various fasteners, tire condition, and frame integrity prior to your
day’s activities is a good practice to avoid problems. Most of the fasteners are metric and will need
metric tools to tighten. Make sure that tires are neither over inflated nor under inflated. Check that the
battery is charged sufficiently for your anticipated distance ride. Test the chain and derailleur to be sure
that changing speeds will not cause any problems.
Safety Ride
Initial Test Ride: Select an environment free from hazards or distractions to test your new e-
Bike. Pedestrian or automobile traffic is not the best place to learn the different modes of using the e-
Bike power or pedaling combination. Although similar to riding a normal bicycle, the e-Bike is different
and requires that you are familiar with the throttle, mode selection, power on/off switch on the e-Bike
control and the battery itself.
Basics
Planning ahead is one of the best ways to avoid problems. Think about the path or road you will be
traveling and if there are places where it would be safest to get off and walk your e-Bike. Narrow paths
shared with other bicycles or pedestrians can cause incident and injury if you don’t first anticipate
possible problems. Use the e-Bike’s bell to alert other bicycles or pedestrians that can’t or don’t see you.
Be responsible to give-way to others, especially pedestrians and vehicles that are larger than you.
Bicycle Laws
Always obey the local bicycle and traffic laws. Obey all traffic lights and stop signs. Some bicycle paths
may prohibit motorized vehicles which would require you to use only the pedal mode of your e-Bike.
Check with local law enforcement for clarification of any other limitations. The e-Bike is manufactured
4
www.BofeiliUSA.com © e-Bikes USA 2012
to have a maximum battery powered speed of 20 MPH. Check your state and local laws for e-Bike laws
and statutes.
Sharing the Road
Using an awareness of automobiles and trucks, enjoy the road with the consideration that at times
visibility or constraints on both bikes and larger vehicles may cause difficult situations. Anticipate and
stay aware. Avoid impairing your hearing or vision that may interrupt warning signals, signs, or horns.
Equally, use your e-Bike with awareness of pedestrians, always yielding to those standing, walking or
running.
Off Road
The Bofeili Sport model is designed for trail riding and is not considered a “Mountain Bike”. The Sport
model is not designed for jumps or trick riding. Enjoy the trails and watch for pedestrians walking the
trails. Always leave the trails in as good or better shape than you found them. Do not venture off the
trails with this model or the City or Folding Touring models which are designed for pavement and gravel
roads.
Wet Weather Riding
Although the motor is protected, DO NOT ride through deep water which could damage the motor and/or
controller. Do not expose the battery to extended periods of weather when not riding. Make efforts to
protect electrical connections from excess water. Do not wash the e-bike with water; only use a dry or
damp cloth to clean the frame and parts.
Night Riding
Though the City and Folding Touring e-Bikes are equipped with lights and reflectors, be sure to wear
high-visibility clothing and additional reflective items. Poor visibility of the road can lead to accidents
with the e-Bike at dangerous speeds. ALWAYS WEAR AN APPROVED BIKE HELMET.
Warning Regarding Modifications and/or Additions
Modifications or additions to the e-Bike that are not approved or misuse will void any manufacturers’ or
dealer warranty of any component or the Bofeili e-Bike.

Bike Fit
With the step-thru styled City e-Bike and the Folding Touring e-Bike, bar height is not an issue, but be
sure that with the Sport e-Bike that when standing over the bike in front of the saddle, there is at least 1”
or more of clearance of the rider inseam and the e-Bike bar (as shown in the picture). Adjust the saddle
and the handle-bars for the most comfortable ride. Optimum leg extension is about 75% so there will be
some bend at the knee left in your leg.
The Saddle height is
adjustable with a Cam Action
Adjustment. The pitch is
adjustable using a metric
wrench.
The Handle Bars on some
models also have Cam Action
Adjustment for height and a friction spline adjustment for pitch.
Knowing your e-Bike
Wheels
The front wheel has a Cam Action attachment which must be very tight to prevent the
axle from coming loose from the forks. You may need to seek another person if you are unable to
perform the tightening yourself. The wheels should be turned to ensure there is no rubbing or wobbling.
Hitting curbs or other obstructions can bend or twist the wheels causing unsafe conditions for ridding. If
this occurs, take your e-Bike to a qualified bicycle repair shop and do not attempt to straighten yourself.
This requires special tools and training.
Brakes
Your e-Bike comes equipped with front and rear brakes and each has a hand grip to activate the brake.
Your e-Bike has either friction or disc brakes. In most cases, using both brakes with equal pressure is the
best way to slow down or stop. In down-hill riding, excessive front brake use can cause the bike wheel to
lock and the bike to plunge forward, throwing the rider off and possible serious injury. Know which hand
grip is for the front and rear.
Adjusting the Brakes:
9
www.BofeiliUSA.com © e-Bikes USA 2012
If rubbing occurs of one of the brake pads, first check that the wheel is properly running true. If not,
adjust on the forks. The friction style brakes exert the most stopping power at the point just before
locking the wheel in place. Rain, oil, or wet conditions will cause less friction and therefore you should
anticipate longer braking time than in dry conditions. The pads should be adjusted to strike the wheel rim
with the maximum amount of rubber to wheel alignment. Pads do wear over time and should be reviewed
in your routine inspections.
Your Bofeili e-Bike is equipped with quick adjusting brake cable nuts near the handle grips. Loosen the
locking nut and twist the adjustment nut to shorten or lengthen the cable which will draw the brake pads
closer or further from the wheel rim.
Fine adjustments of the brake arms can be done with a small
screwdriver tightening or loosening the Spring Adjustment Screw
locate as the diagram indicates. Adjust using small amounts.
Tektro brakes on the Sport e-Bike
The Sport model e-Bike has hydraulic disc brakes designed and
manufactured by Tektro. Service information, adjustment and
maintenance for these brakes can be found at www.Tektro.com.
Please match the exact model on the individual e-Bike to the
service and use on the Tektro company web site.
Controls
The Bofeili e-Bike is equipped with a right hand throttle that twists, similar to a motorcycle throttle.
When the power mode is on, the controller will sense the need for electric assistance after the second
pedal revolution and provide assistance depending on your level set, “Low, Medium, High”. This
assistance will be terminated at the end of pedaling or at braking. Additional power with or without
pedaling can be sent to the motor with a twist of the throttle. If you desire no battery assistance, turn the
control off.

Motor
Because your Bofeili e-Bike utilizes a patented mid-bike (at the crankshaft), the motor utilizes the gear
system on your e-Bike. The Bofeili INTELEGENT CRANK-SHAFT MOTOR is the best configuration
for e-Bike riding rather than add-on kits or manufactured bikes that have hub motors in the front or rear
wheel which cannot utilize the gear system for speed or for
torque to ride up slopes. The motor is designed to provide
years of enjoyable biking without necessary service. The
brushless motor can be serviced, if ever necessary, by
qualified electric motor repairmen. DO NOT SUBJECT
THE MOTOR TO EXCESS WATER OR POOLS OF
STANDING WATER; this may cause electrical failure and
motor damage voiding all warranty.
Controller
The Controller is the electrical controls
which signal the battery, motor and pedals
to work in concert. Service of the
Controller should ONLY be done by an
experienced motor electrician. For
diagram information; the service tech may
contact the dealer.

Shifting Gears Shimano Derailleur
Your e-Bike is equipped with a 7-speed (or 21-speed on Sport model) Shimano derailleur. Adjusting
from one speed to another should only be done while the chain is in motion. Importance of timing when
using power takes a little getting used to but selecting the right gear for your given terrain is important.
Which gear to be in?
The numerically lowest number (1) is for the steepest hill while the largest (from 6-21) is for the most
speed. On the rear gear, (1) will have the chain on the largest sprocket while for speed, it will be on the
smallest sprocket.
Wheels, Tires & Tubes
Shimmy or wobble see a bike shop to true the wheel. Check to make sure the wheel is
properly set in the forks and the cam is tight enough to keep the wheel running true.
Check tire pressure
Tire pressure should not exceed the PSI on the tire. For safe use, fill to the lowest recommended level
and allow the rubber to stretch for a period of time BEFORE inflating further. This precaution should
avoid pre-mature ruptures. For extended rides, a small hand pump and repair kit may be important to
carry. For a more comfortable ride, Bofeili e-Bikes use inner tubes. Tire replacements or extra tubes can
be purchased at e-Bikes USA or other bike part dealers.
Carry an extra tube on that extended ride

Battery Panasonic Cell Lithium 4 Ion
Warnings
DO NOT SUBJECT THE BATTERY TO EXCESS WET, HOT, SUN, COLD
OR PHYSICAL ABUSE WHICH WILL CAUSE BATTERY FAILURE OR
SHORTENED BATTERY LIFE. DO NOT DROP OR DAMAGE THE BATTERY
WHICH COULD CAUSE FIRE, EXPLOSION, AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY!
The above photo shows one type of battery and it’s gauge which shows 100%, 80%, 50%, & 20%.
Your e-Bike comes with two keys which are used to lock the e-Bike battery in place. Unlocking allows
the battery to be removed and charged inside if the e-Bike is away from an electrical connection. Sports
models have a pin-connection that must be removed from its “cylinder” style battery. The battery can be
charged while on the e-Bike by lifting the black flap on the back or side and inserting the low voltage
charger connection.
13
www.BofeiliUSA.com © e-Bikes USA 2012
Storage
If battery is to be stored for an extended period of one month without use, it should be monitored as to
the level of charge and NEVER allow the battery to drop below 20% (or one red light showing) before
recharging. At a minimum, stored Lithium Ion batteries should be recharged at least every three months.
Charging
Charge your battery the first few times by draining (using) the majority of power then charging for at least
12 hours. This will most effectively break in” the battery and give you the best and longest life possible.
After the first few times, the best practice is to charge the battery with the provided charger for your e-
Bike when the gauges indicates 20% remaining on the battery or one red light remaining. A normal
charge will take 4-8 hours until the green light on the charger is lit. The charger is equipped with 110-240
volt abilities and can be plugged into most all normal household receptacles.
14

Folding
The Folding Touring e-Bike is one of the lightest in its class at
44 lbs. The Folding Touring e-Bike has folding handlebar and
folding mid-frame that allows the bike to be compacted to the
side of a suitcase for easy transport or storage. A three-step
procedure takes only a few seconds to put the handlebar down.
When put back to its riding position it has a latch and
secondary lock that keeps the handlebars in place.
The mid-section fold has a
patented design to maintain a
ridged frame when riding yet a
sturdy hinge mechanism with
heavy latch.
Once the silver outer latch is
pulled back the bolt will be
freed, allowing the e-bike bike
to hinge upon itself. A
bungee-cord or tie will keep the tires together while
loading or hauling.
When returning to riding position, make sure the
bolt of the mid-section is securely locked in place
before the outer cover lock is latched in place. The
seat post is equipped with a quick-release cam if
you desire to lower or remove the seat.

Maintenance
Keep your bike and parts free from grit and excess soil build-up. Wipe parts and frame with a dry or
damp cloth. DO NOT RINSE THE e-BIKE WITH WATER. Keep joints and moving parts lightly
oiled as needed.
Perspective
Nothing lasts forever the more you use it, the harder you use it, and the worse conditions you use it
the shorter the life
If you find a crack replace the part ASAP
Corrosion speeds damage keep your bike and its parts clean and free from salt, grit and
other damaging abrasive/corrosive materials.
Color fades When not in use, your e-Bike color will remain longer with care like an
auto; wash, wax, and store indoors.
Dents, scratches, excessive weight or use will promote cracks which will grow quickly.
Things that shorten the “life” of your e-bike
Excess weight
Rough terrain
Crashes or physical abuse
Strong aggressive riders
Harsh riding style
Corrosive/abrasive environment (wet, salt, water, sweat, sand, mud, grit)
Improper storage
Battery abuse (physical, charging improperly, storage)
Bolts, Nuts, Screws, & Cams
Check all bolts and screws and tighten as necessary. Check wheel cams and cams that adjust the seat and
handlebars. Improper tightness may cause an accident. For extended rides, certain tools may be helpful
to carry. Inspect the e-Bike prior to riding each time.
