OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Intended use
The Alignment Bar is used to detect infrared (IR) light
transmitted by SICK sensors. The Alignment Bar consists of
an array of twenty-one IR receiver elements located 15mm
apart. When IR light is detected, the red LED located next to
each IR receiver element will illuminate.
The Alignment Bar and accessories may only be operated in
accordance with their intended use. In the case of any other
usage or in the event of any modifications to the device, any
warranty claims against SICK AG shall be null and void.

representative. Do not attempt to repair the device!
The following accessories are supplied with the Alignment
Bar:
Mounting Stand
Position Indicator
Operating Instructions document
The mounting stand requires the following assembly:
The mounting stand is 25mm tall. When the device is
mounted on the stand, the first IR light receiver element
starts 55mm from the floor.
The bottom of the mounting stand is fitted with a ¼-20 UNC
and a 3/8-16 UNC threaded hole for mounting to tripods or
other equipment.
The position indicator requires the following assembly:
Once assembled, slide the position indicator into the slot
of the device housing and tighten to prevent it from sliding
out.

CHARGING ACTIVE LED
The Alignment Bar features three different LED's that show
the current operating state.
Description
Provides the amount of battery life remaining on
the device (5 LEDs = 100% charged, 4 LEDs = 80%
charged, 3 LEDs = 60% charged, 2 LEDs = 40%
charged, 1 LEDs = 20% charged, 0 LEDs = Battery
needs to be recharged)
Illuminates red when the corresponding IR light
receiver detects IR light
Continuously illuminates blue to help the user
locate where the IR light receiver is located.
This LED illuminates yellow when the device is
being charged
An ON/OFF switch allows the user to turn the device on or
off.
A mini USB B connector is provided to charge the device. The
Alignment Bar has a USB 2.0 compliant charging circuit.
Ensure your device is properly charged prior to use. Use a
DC 5V, 2A USB charger and cable with mini USB B
connector to charge the device. All five battery strength
LEDs will illuminate green when the device is fully charged.
The device is supplied with a rechargeable lithium-ion
battery. Always dispose the device in compliance with
local/national rules and regulations with respect to waste
disposal.
You can mount the device on any sufficiently stable
support. To do this, the mounting stand shipped with the
device can be used.
Turn the slide switch to ON to power the device.
Point the IR SICK sensor at the IR light receiver
elements on the device to detect the presence of IR
light from the sensor. When IR light is detected from
the sensor, the corresponding IR light detection LED
will illuminate red. The position indicator or IR Light
Receiver Elements Location LEDs can be used to help
the user target specific receiver element(s). A ruler is
located on the side of the extrusion to help the user
target a receiver element at a particular height.
Turn the slide switch to OFF to power down the device
and conserve battery life.
The device will not work in direct sunlight. The device is
provided with an optic tube that will protect the IR light
receiver elements from sunlight. Turn the device away from
