Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS

certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The

HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage41.

Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe

Whenusing50Hz,themaximumframerateislimitedto25fps.

TheAxisproductprovidesseveralvideostreamformats.Yourrequirementsandthepropertiesofyournetworkwilldeterminethe

typeyouuse.

TheliveviewwindowintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream

proles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheliveviewwindow.

AboutH.264format

H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion

JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace

arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.

MulticastRTP

Thismethod(RTPoverUDP)shouldbeusedforlivemulticastvideo.Thevideostreamisalways

up-to-date,evenifsomeframesaredropped.

Multicastingprovidesthemostefcientusageofbandwidthwhentherearelargenumbersof

clientsviewingsimultaneously.Amulticastcannothowever,passanetworkrouterunlessthe

routerisconguredtoallowthis.ItisnotpossibletomulticastovertheInternet,forexample.

Notealsothatallmulticastviewerscountasoneunicastviewerinthemaximumtotalof20

simultaneousconnections.

AXISMediaControlnegotiateswiththeAxisproducttodeterminethetransportprotocoltouse.Theorderofpriority,listedinthe

AMCControlPanel,canbechangedandtheoptionsdisabled,tosuitspecicrequirements.

Thismodewilldecreasetheexposure,sothattrafclightsandotherbrightlightsourceswillnotsaturatewheninviewatnight.

Inthismode,itispossibletodistinguishthecolorofthetrafclightsatanysurroundinglightlevel.Thismodeisalsofavorable

forlicenseplaterecognition.

Exposureistheamountoflightthecamera’ssensorcapturesforascene.Toomuchlightresultsinawashedoutimageandtoo

littlelightresultsinadarkimage.

Exposurevalue-UsetheExposurevalueslidertoadjusttheoverallbrightnessoftheimage.

Exposurecontrol-Selectasuitableoptiontocontrolexposure.

Formostscenes,theAutomaticoptionwillprovidethebestresults.Theshutterspeedisautomaticallysettoproduceoptimum

imagequality.Fluorescentlampsorotherlightsourcescansometimescauseickeringintheimage.Toreduceickerintheimage,

selecttheFlickeroptionthatmatchesthepowerlinefrequency.

TheHoldcurrentoptionlocksthecurrentexposuresettings.

Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeed,alsocalled‘exposuretime’,standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopen,thereby

exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslow,itcancause

movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.

EnableBacklightcompensation-Enablethisoptionifabrightspotoflight,suchasalightbulb,causesotherareasintheimage

toappeartoodark.

Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto

settingcanbeused.

YoucanselectapredenedareabydeningIncludeandExcludewindowswithintheimage.Excludewindowsexcludeareasthatare

toobrightordark,andIncludewindowsincludeareasinthescenethathavebetterlightingwhichwillcontributetotheexposuredata.

TheremustbeatleastoneIncludewindow.TherecanbeatotaloftenIncludeandExcludewindowstotailortheexposurezone.

NotethatanExcludewindowiseffectiveonlywhenplacedinsideanincludewindow.

Tip:Ifanareaisextremelybright,drawanIncludewindowtocoverthewholeareaanddeneExcludewindowswithinitto

blockoutthebrightareas.

Shutter&Gain

Theshutterandgainsettingsaffecttheamountofmotionblurandnoiseintheimage.Toadapttodifferentlighting,available

storagespaceandbandwidth,itisoftennecessarytoprioritizeeitherlowmotionblurorlownoise.TheAxisproductallowsdifferent

prioritizationinnormallightandinlowlight.

Shutterspeedisrelatedtotheamountoftimetheshutterisopenedandismeasuredinseconds(s).Aslowshutterspeedallows

morelighttoreachthesensorandcanhelpproduceabrighterimageinlowlightsituations.Ontheotherhand,aslowshutter

speedcancausemovingobjectstoappearblurry.

SetShutterto:

•Autotosettheshutterspeedautomatically.Ifrequired,useMaxshuttertolimittheshutterspeedtopreventtheframe

ratefrombeingreduced.

Forexample,toget30fps,setMaxshutterto1/30.

•Fixedtouseaxedshutterspeed.

Gain,measuredindecibel(dB),istheamountofamplicationappliedtotheimage.Ahighgainmayprovideabetterimageinlow

lightsituationsbutwillincreasetheamountofimagenoise.

SetGainto:

•Autotosetthegainautomatically.Ifrequired,useMaxgaintolimittheappliedgain.

•Fixedtouseaxedgain.

Example

Ifstoragespaceorbandwidthislimited,tryusingalowergain.Thiswillreduceimagenoiseandproducesmallerimageles.

ViewArea

Aviewareaisacroppedpartofthefullview.EachviewareaistreatedasavideosourceinLiveViewandhasitsownvideo

streamandPTZsettings.

Whensettingupaviewarea,itisrecommendedthatthevideostreamresolutionisthesamesizeasorsmallerthantheviewarea

size.Settingthevideostreamresolutionlargerthantheviewareasizeimpliesdigitallyscaledupvideoaftersensorcapture,

requiringmorebandwidthwithoutaddingimageinformation.

Toenable,gotoVideo>CameraSettingsandselectEnableViewAreas.

Toaddanewviewarea:

1.GotoVideo>ViewArea.

2.ClickAdd.

3.ThenewviewareaappearsunderSelectedviewarea.EnteradescriptivenameintheNameeld.

4.SelectanAspectratioandaVideostreamresolution.

5.Anewviewareacoversthewholeimage.Usethemousetomoveandresizetheviewarea.

6.SelectEnablePTZtoenabledigitalPTZfortheviewarea.

7.ClickSavetosavethesettings.
