Professional 3400 running Network Software Suite

Before you begin:

This document describes how to set up your Rimage Professional 3400 system to run

Rimage Network Soware Suite version 8.3 and above.

 Note:Network Soware Suite replaces the Rimage Standalone Soware that

shipped with your Professional 3400 system.

The instrucons in this document are intended for people who are familiar with

hardware setup, soware installaon, and Windows operang systems. If you do not

understand the procedures in this document, ask your computer technician for help.

Documents referenced in this procedure are found on the Rimage Professional

3400/5400N User Guide disc included with your system and are also available online

at www.rimage.com/support.From the Support menu select: ProfessionalSeries>

Professional3400 >UserManuals tab.

- Important!

• Read all setup instrucons thoroughly before you begin.

• Save all packing boxes and packing materials for your Rimage system.

 Notes:

• The 3400 is a non-embedded autoloader and integrated Everest 400 printer

that requires an external PC to be used as the control center. The external

PC does not ship with the 3400. Refer to the Rimage Professional 3400 and

5400N Specicaons document at www.rimage.com/support for minimum

PC requirements.

• Your product may not look exactly like the product pictured.

• The term “autoloader” is used throughout this document to refer to the

Rimage Professional 3400. The term “printer” refers to the integrated

Everest 400 printer. The term “system” refers to both the Professional 3400

autoloader and the Everest 400 printer.

• This product is also designed for an IT power distribuon system with phase-

to-phase voltage 230V.

• Unless otherwise indicated, all Windows navigaon statements are Microso

Windows XP paths. Other operang systems’ navigaon paths may dier

slightly.

Set up the autoloader

Power on the system

- Important! Do not power on the system unl instructed to do so.

a. Remove the tapeand packing

foam from the top and side of the

autoloader.

b. Open the frontdoor.

c. Remove the plascpackingbraces from

the li arm and printer tray.

 Note: You may need to bend the

plasc brace in the printer tray to

remove it.

d. Close the front door.

e. Connect the cables and cords.

i. Connect the powercordfrom the back of

the autoloader to a power outlet.

- Important! The outlet must be an

earth-grounded outlet.

ii. Connect the USBcable from the back of

the autoloader to the external control

center (PC).

- Important!You must have administrave privileges to install the

soware on the external PC.

a. Place the NetworkSowareSuitedisc in the disc drive of the

external PC.

 Note: If the soware installaon does not start automacally,

select Run from the Windows Start menu and browse to the

setup.exe le on the soware disc.

b. Follow the onscreenprompts to complete the soware installaon.

- Important! If you have the Rimage Standalone Soware installed on your

PC, you must uninstall it before you install the Network Soware Suite.

Use the procedure below to uninstall the Rimage Standalone Soware. If

you do not have Rimage Standalone Soware or Network Soware Suite

installed on your PC, proceed to step 4.

a. In Windows select: Start > ControlPanel. The Control Panel window

opens.

b. Select AddorRemove Programs. The Add or Remove Programs window

opens.

c. Select RimageStandaloneSowarefrom the Currently installed

programs list.

d. Select Remove.

 Note:A Rimage Standalone Soware message displays asking if you

want to completely remove the selected applicaon and all of its

features. Select Yes. The Rimage Standalone Soware is uninstalled

from your PC.

e. When the Uninstall Complete dialog displays, select Yes,Iwanttorestart

mycomputernow.

 Note:Make sure to remove any discs from the PC disc drive before

restarng the PC.

f. Select Finish. The PC restarts.

g. When the PC has restarted, delete the following folders:

- Important!Before you delete these folders, make sure that they do

not contain any personal les.

• C:\Rimage

• C:\Program Files\Rimage

Unpack the Accessory Kit

a. Press the powerswitchon the back of the

autoloader. The autoloader powers on.

b. Make sure the externalPC is powered on.

 Note: Aer the system powers on, the system begins

the inializaon process. Inializaon may take up

to 5 minutes.

c. When the control panel displays “Printer Ribbon Absent”

connue to step 6.

Access these documents by placing the UserGuidedisc in the disc drive

of a PC.

 Note: If the User Guide menu does not display automacally, select

Run from the Windows Start menu and browse to theHome.htm

le on the soware disc.

• For informaon about subming orders to the 3400 across a network,

or to view the latest informaon on remote accessing, refer to the

Rimage Advanced Setup (Networking) Guide.

• For informaon about operang and maintaining the 3400, refer to the

Rimage Professional 3400 and 5400N User Guide.

• For addional support and product informaon, go to

- Important!Make sure to register your system so that Rimage can nofy

you of upgrades as they become available.

a. Lay theprintribboncarrieron

its back.

b. Remove theusedprintribbon (if needed).

i. Pull up on supplyrolland takeuproll.

ii. Remove the ribbon from the carrier.

- Important! The ribbon carriers cannot be

removed from the printer unless the system is

powered on.

 Note:For more detailed instrucons on

replacing print and retransfer ribbons, refer

to the Rimage Professional 3400 and 5400N

User Guide.

a. Pull up on the printercoverlatch.

b. Lower the printercoverto expose the ribbon carriers.

c. Remove the RibbonCarriers.

i. Turn the centerlatch counterclockewise to unlock it.

ii. Pull the printribboncarrier orretransferribboncarrier to remove it

from the printer.

c. Install thenewprintribbon.

i. With the supply roll on the right

side, and the takeup roll on the le

side, unroll a few inchesofribbon.

ii. Place the printribboncarrier on

top of the exposed ribbon.

iii. Place thesupplyroll on the carrier

and push down to snap it into place.

iv. Place thetakeuproll on the carrier and

push down to snap it into place.

d. Lay the printribboncarrierback on its side.

e. Return the printribboncarrierto the printer.

f. Turn the centerlatch clockwise to secure it.

g. Close the printercover.

The Everest 400 printer driver installs automacally.

 Note:If the New Hardware Wizard displays, follow the prompts to

complete the Wizard and install the Everest 400 printer driver.

Install the Everest 400 printer driver

a. Remove the retransferribboncarrier from the autoloader.

b. On rst use, remove thepackaging from the retransfer ribbon carrier.

i. Remove the tape

and plascbrace

from the front of the

carrier.

ii. Remove tapeand

plascpackaging

from around the

outside of the

carrier.

c. Remove the usedretransferribbon

fromtheretransferribboncarrier (if

needed).

i. Pull up on the supplyrolland the 

takeuproll.

ii. Remove the ribbon from the

carrier.

d. Install the newretransferribbon.

i. With the supply roll on the le side, and the takeup roll on the

right side, unroll a fewinchesof

ribbon.

ii. Place theretransferribboncarrier

on top of the exposed ribbon.

iii. Place thesupplyroll on the carrier

and push down to snap it into

place.

iv. Place thetakeuprollon the

carrier and push down to snap it into place.

e. Return theretransferribboncarrierto the autoloader.

f. Turn thecenterlatchclockwise to secure the carrier.

g. Close theprintercover.

本文档介绍设置 Rimage Professional 3400 系统以运行 Rimage 网络软件 8.3 版

及更高版本的方法。

 注：您的 Professional 3400 系统附带的是网络软件套件，而非 Rimage 独

立软件。

本文档中的说明旨在为不熟悉固件设置、软件安装以及 Windows 操作系统的人

士提供帮助。如果您不理解本文档中所述步骤，请向计算机技术人员寻求帮助。

设置 Autoloader

打开系统的电源

- 重要信息！除非按照说明，否则切勿接通系统的电源。

a. 拆除 Autoloader 顶部和侧面的胶带

和包装泡沫。

b. 打开

前门。

c. 拆除抬升臂和打印机托盘上的塑料包

装壳。

 注：可能需要弯曲打印机托盘中

的塑料壳才能将其拆除。

d. 关闭前门。

e. 连接缆线和电线。

i. 将 autoloader 背面的电源线连接到电源

插座。

- 重要信息！插座必须为接地式插

座。

ii. 将 autoloader 背面的 USB 缆线连接到

外部控制中心 (PC)。

- 重要信息！必须拥有管理员权限才能将软件安装到外部 PC 上。

a. 将网络软件套装光盘放入外部 PC 的光盘驱动器中。

 注：如果软件安装未自动开始，请从 Windows 的 Start

（开始）菜单中选择 Run（运行）并浏览到软件光盘上的

setup.exe 文件。

b. 按照屏幕上的说明完成软件安装。

- 重要信息！如果您的 PC 上安装有 Rimage 独立软件，则必须在安装

网络软件套件前卸载掉。请遵照以下步骤卸载 Rimage 独立软件。如

果您的 PC 上未安装 Rimage 独立软件或网络软件套件，请继续执行

步骤 4。

a. 在 Windows 中，请选择：Start（开始）> Control Panel（控制面

板）。Control Panel（控制面板）窗口随即显示出来。

b. 选择 Add or Remove Programs（添加或删除程序）。Add or

Remove Programs（添加或删除程序）窗口随即显示出来。

c. 从 Currently installed programs（当前已安装的程序）Rimage

Standalone Software（Rimage 独立软件）。

d. 选择 Remove（删除）。

 注：Rimage 独立软件消息屏会询问您是否要完全删除选定应用

程序及其所有功能。选择 Yes（是）。Rimage 独立软件即从您的

PC 上成功卸载。

e. 当出现 Uninstall Complete（卸载完成）对话框时，请选择 Yes, I

want to restart my computer now（是，我要立即重启计算机）。

 注：请确保在重启 PC 之前先从 PC 光盘驱动器中取出光盘。

f. 选择 Finish（完成）。PC 将重启。

g. PC 重启后，请删除以下文件夹：

- 重要信息！删除这些文件夹之前，请确保其中不含有任何个人文

件。

• C:\Rimage

• C:\Program Files\Rimage

拆开附件包的包装

a. 按 autoloade 背面的电源开

关。autoloader 随即通电。

b. 确保外部 PC 电源已接通。

 注：系统通电后，开始初始化过程。

初始化可能需要 5 分钟。

c. 当控制面板显示 “Printer Ribbon Absent”

（未安装打印机色带）时，继续执行步骤 6。

卸载 Rimage 独立软件。
