Caution
For correct usage read this instruction manual carefully, in the order presented, and keep
in a safe place for future reference.

Introduction
Important
This appliance is intended for private/ domestic use as an electric lawn scarifier and as an
electric lawn rake, for aerating lawns and grassy areas. It is not designed for use in public
areas, parks, sports areas, or for any agriculture purpose. Using the appliance for any
purpose other that that for which it was intended is dangerous. We accept no
responsibility for any damage, or injury resulting from such use.
Safety Precautions
1. Read this instruction manual carefully and follow the warnings and safety instructions.
2. Never use this appliance in wet weather conditions.
3. Use extreme caution when handling the appliance, as the blades do not stop
immediately after switching it off.
4. Maintain a safe working distance that is well away from bystanders.
5. Keep your hands and feet away from the cutting blades, as they are extremely sharp.
6. If the power cable, or plug becomes damaged immediately switch it off and unplug
from the mains power supply.
7. Always wear protective eye goggles and earmuffs when operating the appliance.
8. Always switch off the appliance, disconnect the power and wait until the blades have
stopped moving before carrying out any maintenance, cleaning or repair work.
9. Comply with the safety information and warnings on the appliance.
10. Whenever carrying out any maintenance, or handling the blades make sure you wear
gloves to protect your hands.
Safety instructions
Before operation
• The appliance must be correctly assembled before use.
• Before use carefully check the appliance for signs of damage. If you notice any
defect do not operate it and take it to your local hardware store for repair.
• Replace worn or damaged parts with original spare parts, as parts not produced
by the manufacturer could result in possible injury.
• Before use, all objects must be removed from the lawn.
• Only work in daylight or sufficiently good artificial light.
• Wear suitable working clothes and non-slip shoes.

Proper usage
Important: When operating the appliance you are responsible for the safety of third
parties.
• People unfamiliar with the operating instructions, children, or anyone under the
influence of drugs or alcohol must not be allowed to operate this appliance.
• Only use the appliance for the purpose for which it was intended.
• Keep children, pets and any onlookers a safe distance away from the working area at
all times.
• Always use the appliance with the grass collection unit correctly fitted.
• Before inserting the plug into the mains power supply, make sure that the socket rating
matches the appliance.
• Only operate the appliance by grasping the handle in the correct working position.
• Ensure that your weight is evenly balanced over both feet, especially when working on
slopes.
• In order to start the appliance, the cutting blades must be completely free to move.
• Never put your hands or feet in the path of the rotating parts.
Caution! Risk of injury!
• Only use the appliance at walking pace.
• To prevent cutting the cable, always make sure you safely guide the power lead
behind you when using the appliance.
• Before positioning and removing the grass collection unit, switch the motor off and
wait until the blades have stopped moving.
• If the appliance strikes an object, examine it for signs of damage and carry out any
necessary repairs before restarting and continuing to work.
• If the appliance starts to vibrate abnormally, switch off the motor and check it
immediately for the cause. Vibration is generally a warning of a fault.
• Before carrying out any maintenance, or cleaning the appliance, switch it off,
unplug from the mains power supply and wait until the cutting blades have
stopped moving.
Caution! The blades do not stop immediately after switching off the appliance.
● To prevent injury, use extreme caution when cleaning or maintaining the appliance.
● Never move or modify any of the electrical, or mechanical safety devices.
Electrical safety
• Make sure the mains voltage corresponds to the one marked on the technical data
plate (230-50Hz). Do not use any other sources of power.
• The use of a safety circuit-break is recommended for the power supply line, with

an intervention range of 10 to 30 rated MA. Consult a reliable electrician.
• Never pass the appliance over the extension cable when the appliance is in
operation, as this could cut the cable.
• Always use the special cable holder for the connection of the extension cable.
• Never use the appliance when it is raining and prevent it from getting wet.
• Do not expose the appliance to humid conditions.
• Do not leave the appliance outside over night.
• Do not cut damp or wet grass.
• Before each use check the power cable for signs of damage and if it is damaged,
make sure you have it repaired at your local hardware store.
• Only use an extension cable that is suitable for outdoor use and keep it away from
the cutting area, from damp/ oily surfaces, from sharp edges and away from heat
and fuels.
• The gang socket of the extension cable should be splash proof in compliance with
DIN 57282 and VDE 0282 regulations.

Assembly
Guide bar
• Insert the lower guide bars into the housing as shown in figure 1.
• Slide the cable holder onto the upper guide bar as shown in point 2 (figure 2).
• Connect the guide bars together by inserting, on each side, the supplied bolts (4)
and nuts (5) as shown in figure 3.
• Turn the appliance over and secure the entire guide bar to the housing on both
sides, by using the two screws supplied and a screwdriver, as shown in point 6 of
figure 4.

Safety switch (Fig. 5)
● Open the cover of the safety switch
● Place the safety switch over the holes on the guide bar.
● Close the cover and secure the switch in place with the two screws supplied as
shown in figure 5.
● Use the two supplied cable clips to hold the cable in place.
Collecting bag (Fig. 6)
● Pull the safety flap upwards and hold.
● Attach the holder of the collecting bag (1) to the hooks onto the housing (2) as shown
in figure 6 on previous page.
Setting the working depth
Caution! Never adjust the working height unless the motor is switched off and the
blade shaft has stopped moving.
• The cutting height can be adjusted directly from the two front wheels.
• 5 different cutting height settings are available for each individual wheel.
• Pull the level (1) as shown in figure 7 and move it forward, or backward to the desired
working depth for both wheels. Please note that the same position should be selected
for both wheels.
• The available working depths for the rake and scarifier attachment can be seen below.

Connection to the mains
Plug the appliance into the mains power supply; making sure the cable is secured
Starting
On/Off switch
Caution! Do not start the appliance when it is in long grass, or on solid ground.
• Press the safety lock button A on the switch and then squeeze the lever B up
against the guide bar (as shown in figure 8).
• Keep holding the switch lever and then gently release the safety button.
• To stop the appliance, release the switch lever and it will automatically return to its
start position.

Overheat protection
If the appliance becomes blocked, or if the motor is overloaded, the motor will switch off
automatically. Wait until the motor has cooled down (approximately 15 minutes) before
using the appliance again.
Warning danger of injury! If you do not release the switch lever the appliance will
start immediately after the motor has cooled down.

Scarification
The scarifier cylinder attachment helps promote a healthy lawn in the spring, by allowing
air to penetrate the roots of the grass. We recommend that you scarify your lawn twice a
year, e.g. in the spring and in the autumn. To achieve good result and increase the lifetime
of the scarifier cylinder, mow your lawn to a shorter height (less than 4 cm) before starting.
• Select the working depth depending upon the condition of the lawn and the actual
height of the grass.
• Tilt the scarifier backwards slightly so that both front wheels are off the ground.
• Switch the appliance on and the scarifier cylinder will start rotating.
• Guide the scarifier in strips as straight as possible across your lawn. Always guide
the scarifier at an even speed depending on the type of ground. Remaining in
one place too long, or using the scarifier if the ground is wet or too dry can
damage the grass.
• To prevent tripping take particular care when moving backwards and when pulling
the scarifier.
• Always let the cutting blade rotate at top speed and do not work in such a way as
to overload the appliance.
• When running the appliance make sure the extension cable is a safe distance
from the cutting blade.
• When working on inclines always stand diagonally to the incline with your weight
evenly balanced over both feet. Do not work on extremely steep slopes.
• When the grass collection unit is full, empty it to prevent the blade becoming
clogged and the motor from being overloaded.

Blades
Caution! Disconnect the mains and wear protective gloves before handling the
blades
• Worn blades can impair performance and overload the motor. Before each use,
check the condition of the blades and if necessary have them sharpened at your
local hardware store.
• The blades are designed to be reversible. To change the direction of the blades
proceed as follows:
1. Undo the 2 bolts (1) from the underside of the housing by using the
supplied hex key supplied (as shown in fig 9.)
2. Take the scarifier cylinder out of the housing.
3. Loosen from the other side the hex nuts (2) and take the cap (3) flange (4),
blade (5) and distance rings (6) off the axle (7) in order.
4. Change the direction of the blades, or use a new one and insert into the
axle in order.
5. Tighten the nut and assemble the cylinder to the appliance.

Collection and Aeration
With the rake cylinder, the appliance can be used as a lawn rake for removing matted
grass and moss from your lawn. It is recommended that you use the rake attachment
every 4-6 weeks, depending on the condition of your lawn.

To achieve good result and to increase the lifetime of the rake cylinder, mow your lawn to
a shorter height (less than 4 cm) before starting.
Changing the cylinder (Figure 9 and 10)
• Make sure that you are wearing protective gloves
• Slide the hex nut (1) into the driving shaft (2)
• Fix the other side into the housing with the 2 bolts (3) as shown in figure 10.
Moving the appliance
Caution! Before transporting the appliance, switch off the motor.
When moving the appliance the blade cylinder and the unit can be easily damaged, even
if the motor is switched off. Prevent the cylinder from touching the ground by setting the
working depth to the top position.
Maintenance and Storage
Before carrying out any maintenance, switch off and unplug the appliance from the
mains power supply.
Before each time the appliance is used:
• Check the connecting cable for signs of damage or ageing, and if it is cracked,
split or damaged replace it immediately.
• Check the condition of the cutting cylinder, and ensure that all threaded
connections are securely tightened.
• If the blades are blunt, take it to your local hardware store for repair.
Once per season
• Lubricate the blades, joints between the cylinder and the driving shaft and the
twist spring on the safety flap.
• At the end of the grass-cutting season, have the appliance checked and serviced
at your local hardware store.

Cleaning and maintenance
• Before cleaning or maintaining the appliance make sure that you wear
gloves to protect your hands from the sharp blades.
• Always clean the appliance straight after use, as failure to clean it properly
can result in malfunction or injury.
• After each use remove the grass collection unit and empty it.
• Always stand the appliance on a flat surface and block the wheels to prevent it
from rolling away.
• Clean the underside of the housing, around the blades and the safety flap with a
scrubbing brush and cloth.
Never splash with water!
Clean the ventilator and remove any remaining grass or dirt from the appliance.
Storage
The appliance should be stored in a dry, clean room and out of reach of children.
During extended periods of storage, during the winter for example, ensure that the
appliance is protected against corrosion and frost.
• At the end of the season, or if the appliance is not to be used for longer than a
month the following should we done:
• Clean the appliance
• Wipe over all metal surfaces with an oil-impregnated cloth to protect them from
corrosion (non-resinous oil), or spray a fine coat of oil onto them.
• Fold the guide bar down and store it in a suitable place.

The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:

GREEN/YELLOW EARTH
As the colours of the wire in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the
colour markings identifying the terminals on your plug, proceed as follows:
• The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal which is
marked with the letter N or coloured black.
• The wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal which is
marked with the letter L or coloured red.
• The wire which is coloured GREEN/YELLOW must be connected to the terminal
