Use a pump cover to protect your setup from the elements and increase its lifespan.
If installing with a Vada Flow Boss Mechanical Water Switching Unit, you will require a flathead
screwdriver to adjust the cut-in pressure. Please use thread tape.
Ensure your pump setup is equipped with two isolation valves. This allows for fuss free
troubleshooting should you need it.
If you are switching from tank to mains water, you will also need to install a Vada Flow Boss
Mechanical Water Switching Unit (VFB-MSU).

5. Connect the IEC plug cord on the VFB-
APC to the IEC socket on the pump by
pushing them firmly into each other.
Ensure there are no water traces on the
connectors.
If you are installing a Vada Flow Boss
Mechanical Water Switching Unit skip
to step 8.
6. Plug the power lead in to the power point
and turn the switch on.
7. The green ‘Power On’ LED will illuminate.
If you are using a Tank Only system, then
you are ready to operate the pump.
If you are using a MSU continue to step
8. Ensure you have selected the correctly
sized MSU for your pump application.
8. Grab the rubber washer supplied with the
VFB-MSU and place it on top of the Auto
Pressure Control (VFB-APC) outlet.
9. Hold the Mechanical Switching Unit
(VFB-MSU) over the outlet and connect the
loose nut. Do not overtighten. The rubber
washer will lock this in place.
10. Connect the mains water pipe to the
VFB-MSU inlet labelled “mains in”.
Connect the house water pipe to the
VFB-MSU outlet labelled “to house”.
Note: For easy maintenance, add an isolation
valve into both lines.

If you are installing a Vada Flow Boss
Pump with a Vada Flow Boss Auto
Pressure Control (VFB-APC), follow
steps 1–7.
If you are installing a Vada Flow Boss
Pump with a Vada Flow Boss Auto
Pressure Control and Vada Flow Boss
Mechanical Water Switching Unit, follow
steps 1–14.
1. Set up the suction line installing an isolation
valve, swing check valve, y-strainer and
barrel union for optimal performance and
easy maintenance.
2. Ensure your pump is primed.
Note: Refer to your pump manual for
instructions on how to prime a pump.
3. Connect the VFB-APC to the pump either
directly with a 25mm barrel union or
between the pump and the first outlet. Use
thread tape to ensure a watertight seal.
Note: The pipe/hose must have an internal
diameter equal or larger than the outlet port
of the pump.
4. Check your set up, ensuring the VFB-APC
is installed with the arrows in the up position.

Green light
The pump is connected to the power supply
successfully.
Yellow light
The connected pump is operating.
Note: On initial start up the pump will run until
the discharge line is primed to remove all air.
Red light
Flashing red: Loss of flow detected. While the
red light is flashing, the pump will remain on for
20 seconds, then turn off as it tries to re-prime
itself. It will attempt this several times.
Solid red: The pump has not been able to
detect water and cannot re-prime itself. The
pump will turn off for 24 hours, or until reset.
To reset, turn the power off, then on or
press the restart button.

11. Prepare to adjust the cut-in pressure by
locating the adjustment screw at the back
of the VFB-APC.
Note: Adjusting the cut-in pressure from the
default of 150kPa (1.5bar) to 220kPa (2.2Bar)
allows for a smooth, more reliable changeover
between tank and mains water.
12. Using a flat head screwdriver, turn the
adjustment screw clockwise until you reach
the correct pressure (approx 3.5 full
360° turns).
Note: If you are having trouble turning the
adjustment screw, turn the power off. Isolate
the Mains water supply line. Open the tap to
discharge some water to release the pressure
from within the system. You should now be
able to turn the adjustment screw.
13. Confirm the pressure has been correctly
adjusted by slowly opening a tap outlet
and checking the gauge on the side of the
VFB-APC. If the pump turns on when
gauge drops to 2.2 bar, the cut-in pressure
has been successfully adjusted.
14. Fit a pump cover to protect your setup
from the elements and increase product
lifespan.
