Important cord information
This appliance has a polarized plug. To reduce the risk of electric
shock, there is only one way this plug is intended to fit into a
polarized outlet. If the plug does not completely fit into the outlet,
reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
a) A short power supply cord (or detachable power supply cord)
should be used to reduce the risk resulting from becoming
entangled in, or tripping over a longer cord.
b) Longer detachable power supply cords or extensions cords
may be used if they are used carefully.
c) If a longer detachable power supply cord or extension cord
is used:
1) The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension
cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the
appliance;
2) The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the
countertop or tabletop, where it can be pulled on by children,
or tripped over unintentionally; and

tion – it is therefore best to wear oven mitts.

Preparing the waffle maker
Before using the appliance for the first time, check to ensure that
the appliance, the power plug and the power cord are all in a
serviceable condition and that all packaging materials have been
removed.
1) First, clean the appliance as described in "Cleaning and
maintenance".
2) Lightly grease the baking surfaces with oil that is suitable for
baking. This will help loosen any remaining production residues
on the baking surfaces.
3) Heat the appliance briefly to the maximum temperature
(Position 5) with the lid closed. For this, insert the plug into
a power socket and slide the control knob 3 all the way to
the right.
During this first use light odor may develop, caused by production res-
idues (a slight smoke development is also possible). This is normal and
stops after a short time. Provide for sufficient ventilation.
Open a window, for example.
The red operating lamp 1 glows all the time when the plug is
connected to a power socket. The green operating lamp 1 lights
up as soon as the programmed temperature has been reached.
4) Remove the power plug and allow the appliance to cool
down with the lid open.
5) Clean the appliance again as described in "Cleaning and
maintenance". The waffle maker is now ready for use.

Baking waffles
When you have prepared a batter that is intended for baking in
waffle makers:
1) Heat the appliance with the lid closed. For this, insert the plug
into a power socket and slide the control knob 3 to position
3. The further you slide the control knob 3 to the right, the
darker the waffles will be baked.
If you are using a low-fat batter, such as sour-cream batter, lightly grease
the baking surfaces with a type of margarine or oil suitable for baking.
As soon as the green operation lamp 1 glows, the appliance is
hot!
2) Spread the batter evenly across the bottom baking surface.
To determine the correct amount of batter, fill it with batter
until the batter lightly touches the edge of the baking area.
If necessary, increase or decrease the amount of batter used
in the next waffle. Ensure that the batter does not run over the
edge of the baking surface. Now close the lid.
3) You can open the lid to check the baking result after 2 minutes
at the earliest. Opening the lid earlier will only tear the waffle.
The waffles are ready after about 3 minutes.
As the ideal level of browning is wholly dependent on personal taste and
the constituency of the batter, the baking time can vary: Therefore, bake
the waffles until your own desired level of browning has been achieved.
You can determine the level of browning either by adjusting the control
knob 3 or through the baking time. In this way, the waffles can be
baked from a golden yellow to a crispy brown.
IB_294889_SWE1200C4_LB9.indb 9 06.09.17 11:42
10 US-EN SWE 1200 C4
When removing the waffles, be sure not to accidentally damage
the coating of the baking surfaces. If you do, it will be harder to
separate the waffles from the surfaces.
4) After baking the last waffle, remove the plug from the power
socket and allow the appliance to cool down completely, with
the lid up.
Cleaning and maintenance
Never open the device casing. There are no
serviceable or replaceable components inside the appliance.
When the casing is open, there is a risk of receiving a potentially
fatal electrical shock.
Before cleaning the appliance, unplug it and
wait until it has cooled down completely. Risk of injury!
Never clean the appliance under
running water or submerge it in water.
The appliance could be irreparably
damaged!
Do not clean the surface with abrasive cleaning
agents, or sharp or scratchy objects.
Do not use detergents or solvents. These could
not only cause damage to the appliance, they can also leave
traces that could be baked into the next waffles.
Do not use metal utensils such as knives, forks,
etc. Should the non-stick coating become damaged, discontinue
use of the appliance.
First of all, clean the baking surfaces with a dry paper towel to
soak up the grease residue.
Then clean all surfaces and the power cord with a slightly damp
dish cloth. Always dry the appliance well before using it again.

SWE 1200 C4
In the case of stubborn residues:
NEVER make use of hard objects. They could
damage the coatings of the baking surfaces.
Place a wet dish cloth on the encrusted residues in order to
soften them.
Storage
Allow the appliance to cool down completely before putting it
into storage.
Wind the power cord around the cord retainer 4 on the
bottom of the appliance.
Store the appliance in a dry location.
Disposal
Electrical appliances may not be thrown away as part of normal
household trash. If you can no longer use your electrical appliance,
dispose of it in accordance with the legal provisions applicable
in your state. This will ensure that old electrical appliances are
recycled and environmental pollution is kept to a minimum.
Further information about disposal is available on the Internet
at www.epa.gov.
The packaging is made of environmentally friendly
materials that can be disposed of at your local
recycling center.
