Important Operating Instructions
Intermec Technologies Corporation Model 700CNI
has been qualified under the ATEX Directive require-
ments of the European Union by DEMKO for use in
Zone 2 environments. UL is the ExCB responsible for
issuing the CoC under the IECEx scheme for use in the
same environment.
Hazardous Locations
This mobile computer is suitable for use in the follow-
ing hazardous locations:
Zone 2, II 3 G EEx nL IIC T6 Operating Tempera-
ture Range -10°C and +40°C (+14°F and +104°F).
Zone 2, Ex nL IIC T6 from -10°C and +40°C
(+14°F and +104°F).
Warnings and Cautions
All warnings and cautions herein must be observed for
the safety of the operator and others in potentially haz-
ardous Zone 2 locations:
The 700CNI must only be used when the ambient
temperature is between -10°C and +40°C (+14°F
and +104°F).
Use battery pack P/N: 318-013-003 or 318-013-
004.
The batteries may NOT be changed or charged in
potentially hazardous locations.
The 700CNI may NOT be connected to any of its
available accessories while in potentially hazardous
locations. This includes anything that uses the com-
munications docking connector, headset, or micro-
phone jacks.
Note: Use of the 700CNI outdoors requires
using the Intermec accessory cover (P/N:
815-052-001).

The use of CompactFlash, Secure Digital, and SIM
Cards in the 700CNI while in potentially hazardous
locations is permitted as long as these cards are not
removed or changed while in the hazardous location.
When the 700CNI is used outdoors, the Intermec
accessory cover (P/N: 815-052-001) must be used.
The 700CNI is to be used in an area free of dust and
moisture.
The impact testing required by Table 13 of EN
50021 was performed using the values for Low Risk
of Mechanical Damage.
