Plug the AC power cord to the power supply and in a wall socket.
The Preamplifier is and remains on power as soon as the power switch located on the back
panel is turned on. For best sonic results, Goldmund recommends to leave the unit powered
on permanently.
When turned ON by the back panel power switch, the unit accomplishes a self-test run by
its internal software, then a software routine successively test the modules inside the
machine. If any abnormal functioning is detected, it is displayed on the front panel.

The SR8 is so versatile that the typical configurations in which it can be used are limitless. In
order to set the unit to work in your own configuration, a Windows configurator is available
on our web site. The installer or dealer who is setting up the machine must download this
program in any Windows compatible machine and run it to describe the environment in
which the machine will be used. A serial cable (null-modem type) linking the computer with
the SR8 will be used to download the resulting configuration into the SR8. The Configuration
software is provided with a small "Readme" file which explains its functions.

Connect the analogue sources to the back panel analogue inputs and the digital sources to
the digital inputs of the Goldmund SR8, using the Analogue RCA pairs input connectors for
analogue sources and the Digital RCA for SPDIF digital sources.
The inputs are numbered on the back panel. Connect your favorite 2-channel analogue
sources to ANA 1 to ANA 3.
When all input sources and tape machines are connected, connect the local zone digital
output RCA jacks to the digital-input power amplifiers, using high quality digital cables like
the Goldmund Lineal. The Db9 connector available on the back panel of the SR8 is used to
link the SR8 to an external computer or control unit in order to control all the functions of
the Preamplifier.
T
hey can be also needed to link the SR8 to a computer for prog
ram changes, and initial
configuration loading.
