Differential Pressure Monitor
Monitoring of the Purge Air Supply with
In-situ Measuring Systems
Application
The differential pressure monitor is
used for monitoring the purge-air sup-
ply with SICK in-situ measuring sy-
stems. A purge-air blower supplies the
purging-air attachments of the measu-
ring system. The air ow protects the
optical surfaces from, e.g. contamina-
tion or aggressive gases of the waste
gas channel. If the purge-air supply is
not sufcient the differential pressu-
re monitor issues a warning signal via
potentially free contacts.
To ensure safe monitoring of the pur-
ge-air supply the differential pressure
monitor should be installed to the in-
lets of the purge-air attachments.

Installation
Attach the hose end of the pressure
monitor with help of the hose band
clip. Attach the purge-air hose with
help of the hose band clip to the inlet
of the pressure monitor.
Setting range
The switching threshold of the
pressure monitor can be set at 5 to
20 hPa for min. purge-air supply (cor-
responding to appr. 20 to 60 m
3
/h;
5.3 to 15.9 gal/h).
Function, settings
During standard operation of the mea-
suring system the purge-air supply is
continuous active. The switching
threshold for minimum purge-air
quantity on the differential pressure
monitor is congurable. If the purge-
air quantity decreases the value
of this switching threshold, the diffe-
rential pressure monitor switches the
potentially free contact in order to si-
gnal missing purge-air.
