To reduce risk of serious personal injury:
Avoid inhaling toxic fumes. Toxic chemicals
in some solders and flux can cause respira-
tory illness when inhaled. Work in well ven-
tilated area with fan to move air, and w
ear
NIOSH-approved respirator.
Bandage cuts or sores before soldering.
Toxins can be absorbed through cuts, sores,
eyes, mouth and nostrils, increasing risk of
developing certain diseases. DO NOT eat,
drink, or smoke while soldering. Wash your
hands with soap and water when finished.
Wear eye protection, gloves, long pants,
and a long sleeve shirt to protect eyes
and hands from burns and skin rashes.
Soldering tip will reach temperatures up to
1022º F. DO NOT touch soldering tip until it
has completely cooled.
• Use soldering work stand, hold part with
pliers, or use a heat sink when working with
small parts. Workpieces can heat up and
cause burns.
DO NOT leave soldering gun unattended
or allow soldering tip to rest against any
-
thing. Tool can ignite explosive or flam-
mable materials nearby. Move these materi-
als a safe distance away. Always keep a fire
extinguisher on hand.
Disconnect from power before working on
circuits or wiring to reduce risk of electrocu-
tion.
Use tool for intended purpose. Never mod-
ify, alter, or use tool for a purpose not
intended by manufacturer or serious injury
or death may result!
Keep out of reach of children.

Parts Breakdown & List
1. Clean surfaces of material to be soldered
together to ensure proper bonding. Use steel
wool or fine grit sandpaper to clean soldering
tip.
2. Insert polarized plug into matching 120V
power receptacle and pull trigger for 10-15
seconds to allow soldering tip to heat up.
Note: For every minute of use, allow gun to
cool four minutes. Holding trigger continu-
ously for over one minute will cause gun to
overheat and shorten its lifespan.
3. Apply a small amount of rosin-core solder
to soldering tip. Allow solder to form a thin
film over soldering tip, then wipe tip with wet
sponge to remove excess solder.
4. Prepare workpieces to be soldered by brush-
ing on flux if using non-rosin core solder.
5. Pull trigger to heat both workpieces equally
by touching the soldering tip to each for a few
seconds.
Operation
6. Feed solder into joint, NOT soldering tip.
Solder will melt and flow into and around all
the parts and areas that are above melting
point.
7. Remove solder, then remove soldering tip.
Note: Insufficient solder on soldering tip
causes poor heat transfer to joint, resulting
in weak mechanical and electrical bond.
Too much solder results in strings of solder,
causing bridges to other contacts. A good
soldered joint should be smooth, shiny, and
completely surround the joint.
