Chapter1 Welcome to use KingHistorian3.0
KingHistorian system tool is a visualized customer interface to manage and
configure KingHistorian industry database. KingHistorian can help customer realize
realtime monitor, save and search of data. KingHistorian can also manage and
configure the database and the client program according to the needs of the customer.
KingHistorian is simple to manipulate and is of great function.
KingHistorian system consists of five components, which are KingHistorian,
management studio, calculation engine, OPC collector and interface for second
development (API, OLE DB Provider, and COM).
Before you run the operated program, first please define the whole structure of
the system and decide which components need to be installed on each node
computer. If you want to install all the components on a single computer, you can
just run the install program on it. If you plan to use several computers as server, data
collector or client, please install the setup program and the needed components on
each computer respectively.
Next,we will introduce the installation steps of each componet in
KingHistorian.
1.1 System Components of KingHistorian3.0
KingHistorian system consists of five components, which are KingHistorian,
management tools, calculating engine, OPC collector and interface for second
development (API, OLE DB Provider, and COM).

KingHistorian data server is the core of KingHistorian system; its main
functions are shown as below:
(1) Search tag data: according to the input search requirements by the
user, search tag historical data and real-time which meet the
requirements and return the result to the client.
(2) Process tag data: to insert, modify, delete, compress and save
historical data.
(3) Manage tags: tags management and configuration, including
general tags and calculation tags.
(4) Manage data collector: monitor the state of data collector
connected with database system; manage and control the operation of
data collector.
(5) Save and retrieve structurized data: it allows the customer to save
and retrieve structurized data in a datasheet way; it can be used to
save events, customer role, tag configuration and system
configuration.
(6) Security Management: customer, role, authority management
related to data server security, which include the new, modification,
deleting and authorization of users, etc.
(7) System management and monitor: it includes system management
and operation monitoring, tags management, data collector
management, user andauthority management; Besides, it also includes
the management of datasheet, data file, log, data backup and data
recovery, etc.

KingHistorian system management tool provides a visualized
management and configuration interface for KingHistorian. It can configure,
modify and use different components according to the role authority of the
user so as to realize the functions of collector configuration and management,
tags configuration and management, customer management, SQL sentence
inquirement,etc.
Calculating Engine
It can help the user to create calculating script easily by using the tags in
database to finish complicated calculations. The tags in database can be both
input in calculation and output as result. It supports two languages: VBScript
and Jscript.
OPC collector
It is based on the structure of OPC norm and can fulfill real-time data
collection of OPC server. All the industry sites which employ OPC server can
use <OPC collector> to collect data.
Second development Interfaces (API,OLE DB Provider, COM)
In order to make it easy for the user to use KingHistorian, we provide a
set of function interface to connect and operate KingHistorian data server. The
interface is SDK development package, and the customer can invoke those
functions on compiling his own programs; and by evaluating the parameters,
you can realize these complicated operations such as real-time server
connection, tags configuration, collector configuration, user and security
configuration, etc.

The KingHistorian SDK development package consists of three parts, API
interface, OLE DB Provider and automatic interface. The customer can
choose these interfaces and develop customer-end programs according to real
needs.
1.2 System Requirements of KingHistorian3.0
Hardware: above PIII700 IBM PC or compatible computer
EMS Memory: minimum 512MB
Note: the data collection points of KingHistorian server and the maximum
clients connected with the server must be considered to determine the configuration
of the server. If the number of clients connected with the server at the same time is
different from what is advised,then the size of the EMS memory need to be adjusted.

1.3 Install KingHistorian3.0 System
After the start-up of the computer, insert the installation CD into CD-Rom, the
system will automatically run setup.exe(the user can also double-click the setup.exe
to boot installation program), then the following dialogue box will pop-up.

When the installation of <KingHistorian3.0>is ready, it will pop up the following
dialog box:

Click <Next>, and pop up <Licence agreement> dialog box shown as below.

The content of the dialog box is the license agreement of <KingHistorian3.0>,
please read it carefully. If the user agrees with the articles in the <agreement>, click
<Next> to continue.
After click <Next>, it will pop up <User Information> dialog box shown as
below.

Please input <User Name> and <Company Name>. Click <Back> to return the
former dialogue box; Click <Cancel> to exit installation program; click <Next> to
pop-up <destination folder> dialogue box and select installation path which is
shown as below.

Choose installation catalogue in this box, the default catalogue is C:\Program
Files\KingHistorian3.0, if you want to install it in other catalogue, click <Change>
button, pop-up <Change current destination folder> dialogue box shown as below.

Select the destination folder in this dialog box and click <OK> to return the
step shown in Figure 1-5,then the destination folder is changed to the folder you just
chose.
Click <Next>, then <install type> dialog box appears shown as below,

Select <Complete Installation>, and it will install all the components. If you do
not want to install a component, then you can select <Custom Installation> and
select the programs and locations which you want.
Select <Custom Installation>, then the following dialog box appears,

Users can configure the install location of every component, then they can
configure components and storage data files flexibly according to the sites.
For example, users can save data files of the server into the designated path,
And the operation method is: select the component you need, and click <change>,
then the following dialog box appears.

Users can decide whether or not install the component according to practical
situation. The operation method is: left-click the icon
before the component
name, shown as below.

By default, the installation type is <Complete Installation>, namely all
components are installed, shown in Figure 1-7.Click <Next>, then <Ready for
installation> dialog box appears, shown as below.

Click <Install> to begin installation. The installation program will
decompressed the files on disc and copy it to the default or designated catalogue,
and prompt information is visible during the process of decompression shown as
below.

The following dialogue box will pop up when installation is finished. Installation
Wizard will point out that the installation is finished.

Click <Finish> to complete the installation of KingHistorian3.0.
When the installation is finished, it will create KingHistorian3.0 component
folder in <Start->Program> of system menu, and you can double-click one item in
the folder to start the program when you need to use some one component. Items
existed in start menu after the installation are shown as below.

1.4 Uninstall KingHistorian3.0 System
There are two ways to uninstall KingHistorian3.0 system:
（一） Use Setup.exe install program in KingHistorian3.0
Insert the installation CD of <KingHistorian3.0> into CD-Rom, and the system
will start setup.exe automatically, then the following dialog box appears,

When the installation of <KingHistorian3.0>is ready, it will pop up the
following dialog box:
