This kit is intended for use on LF-3800 and LF-135 Reels.
NOTE:
Read this Instruction Sheet thoroughly and ensure all
parts are included in the kit before attempting assembly.
Numbers in parentheses are item numbers. Refer to Figure 2.
PREPARATION __________________________________
1. Wait for all movement to stop before making any adjust-
ments or modifications.
2. Take this opportunity to thoroughly inspect the equipment
and perform other maintenance.
3. The clamp block, pin, and spring pin, may be removed
from the bearing housing to ease assembly.
ASSEMBLY BELT COVER _________________________
1. Press seal (20) into adapter (2).
2. Attach adapter (2) to belt cover (27) using two 5/16-18 x
1/2” Hex Hd screws (18) and lockwashers (15).
3. Remove Counter Balance Assembly (A) from reel and
remove and discard two capscrews (B) 5/16-18 x 2” long
and one capscrew (C) 5/16-18 x 1” long. See Figure 1.

4. Assemble O-Ring (19) to adapter (2) and fasten to the
bearing housing on the reel with two 5/16-18 x 3” long
capscrews (21). Tighten to 32-37 Ft. Lb.
5. Slide variable Speed Pulley (5) on pulley shaft (4) and
tighten set screws (D). Secure pulley shaft to reel with 5/
16-18 x 4” capscrew (24). Tighten to 32-37 Ft.-Lb.
6. Attach Cover Assembly (3) to belt cover using two 1/4-20
x 1/2” Hex Hd. screws (26).
REAR ROLLER __________________________________
1. Remove and discard existing hardware holding the rear
roller in place.
2. Re-install roller using Bolt Assembly (11), wave washer
(12), and spacer (13) as shown.
BRUSH ASSEMBLY ______________________________
1. Attach Flangette Bearing (10) to bearing housing (9)
using two 1/4-20 x 1/2” Hex Hd. screws (26). Loosely
tighten.
2. Loosely install 5/16-18 x 3/4” Hex Hd. screw (16), lock-
washer (15) and flat washer (14) in bearing housing as
shown.
3. Slide bearing housings over end of Brush Assembly (1)
keeping the keyed end of the brush shaft opposite the
motor side of the reel.
4. Place shaft thru hole in Item 30.
5. Slide assembly into slots on the mower frame with the
screw, lockwasher and flat washer in the slots of bearing
Housing (9).
a. Align brush with roller.
b. Tighten all mounting hardware.
c. Tighten bearing collars.
d. Attach shield (30) to belt cover (27) using two 1/4-20
x 1/2” Hex Hd screws (26).
DRIVE BELT_____________________________________
1. Place woodruff key (17) in brush shaft and install pulley
(8) to shaft. Align with front pulley. Secure with two 5/16-
18 x 3/8” set screws (25).
2. Install belt (7) over pulleys (Items 5 and 8).
The Variable Speed Pulley (5) is used as a belt tensioner
(self-adjusting). To install the belt, place the belt over the
V-pulley and pull the outside half of the pulley outward.
(The pulley is spring loaded.) Place the belt over the rear
pulley. Spin the reel. The belt will tighten.
3. Align and tighten.
a. After the brush (1) and belt cover (27) have been
aligned and tightened, use the .312 dia. hole in the
belt cover as a guide to drill a .312 dia. hole in the
adjuster block.
b. Install items 28,29, 22, and 26 as shown.
WARNING
Before you clean, adjust, or repair this equipment,
disengage all drives, lower implements to the ground,
engage parking brake, remove key from switch and
disconnect batteries to prevent injuries
CAUTION:
Read the operator’s manual and become
familiar with the controls and proper use of the
equipment.
Stay alert for potential hazards and follow all safety
precautions. Read all instructions completely and
make sure you understand them before proceeding
with the assembly

4. Attach plastic cover (6) over assembly using two 1/4-20
nuts (23) and flat washers (22).
BRUSH ADJUSTMENT ____________________________
To adjust the distance or the amount of contact between the
roller and the brush, loosen screws (16) and (26) and move
brush assembly (1) toward roller.
1. The brush must be adjusted so the bristles just touch the
roller an equal amount along the entire length of the
roller.
2. When the correct adjustment is made, securely tighten
the Bearing Housing.
MAINTENANCE __________________________________
1. Before each usage, check the condition of the brush and
roller. Look for signs of uneven wear or grooving in the
roller. Adjust the Bearing Housing as necessary.
2. The belt must be replaced at the first sign of wear or fray-
ing, before an actual breakdown occurs.
NOTE:
On early models of the LF-135, the bottom of the
bedknife adjusters may have to be ground to provide
clearance for the bearing housing (9).

1. Warranty
Textron Turf Care And Specialty Products (TTCSP) warrants only to the original retail purchaser (“Warrantee”)
that this product shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date
of the first retail purchase. (90 days if used for rental purposes)
2. Items Not Warranted
TTCSP makes no warranties or representations with respect to repairs performed by anyone other than an
Authorized TTCSP Dealer or with respect to, where applicable, engines*, batteries, tires, and ROPS, which are
separately warranted by their respective manufacturers. Routine adjustments or normal wear and
maintenance items are not covered by this warranty.
3. Conditions Which Will Void Warranty
A) The speed of the unit is increased beyond factory specifications or the product is modified in any way
which would adversely affect its safety or performance;
B) The unit is not maintained or serviced in accordance with this publication;
C) The unit is abused, or is not used in its intended manner.
4. Exclusive Remedy
The warrantee’s sole and exclusive remedy for breach of this warranty or any defect or failure of the product,
including any remedy provided by applicable federal or state law, statutory or common, is that TTCSP will, at
its sole option, repair or replace the product or any defective parts and cover the cost of labor associated with
such repair or replacement. Transportation costs are not covered by this warranty.
5. How to Obtain Warranty Service
If warranty repair is necessary, contact an Authorized TTCSP Dealer. All defective parts must be returned to
the Dealer and become the property of TTCSP.

merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
