this product, please read the following instructions carefully and store them in a safe place for future

PRECAUTIONS
1. For AC operation, make sure the voltage is compatible. Always use the provided AC power cord; never
use other AC power cord.
For DC operation, simply insert three ‘C’-1.5V type batteries for unit operation.
2. Always disconnect the AC power cord from the AC power source when it is not in use or when DC
power is operating.
3. Do not leave the batteries in the compartment for a long time. Remove the batteries to avoid leakage
and damage. If the unit is not going to be used over a long period of time, remove the batteries and store
the unit in a safe place.
4. Do not expose the unit to extreme temperature nor high humidity to ensure normal functioning for a
long lifetime.
5. If you find the unit is not working properly, please contact Sytech Service Center. Under any
circumstances do not attempt to repair the unit by yourself as this may result in the risk of electro
locution and will void the warranty.
OPERATING THE SY-1659
AC Operation
Insert one end of the supplied AC power cord to the AC IN socket located at the side of the unit, and the
other end to the wall outlet, the unit will be automatically in standby mode when connecting to AC power.
To disconnect from the AC power, remove the power cord from the wall outlet.
DC Operation
Disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet before installing the batteries.
Open the battery compartment and insert 3 pcs R14 - UM2 “C” type batteries into the battery
compartment and close back the compartment. Insert the batteries according to their correct polarities
as shown on the markings inside the battery compartment.
Warning:
Before using the unit, check that the local mains supply is compatible with the unit. Do not plug or unplug
the power cable when your hands wet. When planning not to use the unit for long periods of time (i.e.
vacation etc.) disconnect the plug from the wall outlet.
Check your batteries regularly. Old or discharged batteries should be replaced. If the unit is not to be
used for sometimes or is being run exclusively on AC electrical current, remove batteries from the battery
compartment to avoid leakage.
Time setting
In standby mode.
Press and hold TIME / M+” for 3 seconds to adjust the time.
Press “PREVIOUS” or “NEXT” to set 12/24 hours.
While the display is still flashing, press NEXT” to adjust the hours and then press “TIME / M+” to set
and confirm the hours setting.
While the display is flashing, press “PREVIOUS” and then press “TIME / M+” to set and confirm the
minutes setting.
Alarm setting
Check the radio is switched off.
You can select two ways to wake up to the alarm, either with the Radio or the buzzer.
Press and hold the “ALARM / MEM” for 3 seconds.
While the display is flashing, press “NEXT / PREVIOUS” to start the alarm setting of the hours.
While the display is flashing, press “NEXT / PREVIOUS” to adjust the Hours and then press ALARM
/ MEM” to confirm the hours.
While the display is flashing, press “NEXT / PREVIOUS” to adjust the minutes and then press
“ALARM / MEM” to confirm the minutes.
While the display is flashing, press “PREVIOUS / NEXT” to select “Buzzer” or “Radio” wake up and
then press “ALARM / MEM” to confirm the alarm mode.
While the display is flashing, press “PREVIOUS / NEXT” to select the alarm volume from 5-10-15-
20-25 and then press “ALARM / MEM” to confirm the volume level of the alarm.
Note: Press the “ALARM / MEM “button once to enable or disable the alarm function. Make sure the
alarm icon is seen on the LCD display in order to activate it.
If the alarm is set to wake up with the radio, the radio station frequency at which the radio will wake
up is the last radio station frequency heard before the unit got off.
Snooze function
When the alarm sounds, Press the “SNOOZE” button located on the top of the unit to temporarily
suspend the alarm. The radio or buzzer will ring once again after 9 minutes. (The Snooze interval
time is 9 minutes).
Sleep function
While the radio is On, Press and hold during 2 seconds the “SLEEP/SNOOZE” button to select the
sleep time. The unit will automatically off after the time selected has elapsed.
To select the sleep time, press the “SLEEP/SNOOZE” button and choose between, 90, 75, 60, 45,
30, or 15 minutes interval.
To turn off the radio at any time, press POWER to standby mode.
Radio
Press the “POWER” button to switch on the radio.
Press the “MODE/BANDbutton and select the radio function.
Press the “MODE/BANDbutton to select between FM or AM band.
The display shows the radio frequency at all time.
Press the “NEXT” or” PREVIOUS” button once to search manually for the desired radio station.
Press and hold the “NEXT” or “PREVIOUS” button to scan automatically the next radio station.
Adjust the desired volume.
To switch off the radio, simply press the “POWER button once.
Note: The scan function will search the next station according to the power signal of the radio station.
Presets
A total of 19 presets memories can be stored for each band. (19 Presets in FM / 19 Presets in AM)
Automatic Preset function:
Press and hold the “MEM” button until the unit starts to search and store the best radio frequencies
automatically.
Manual Preset:
Select the desired band and tune the desired radio station (See TUNING section)
Press and hold the “MEM” button to enter the preset storing mode.
A number will appear on the top left of the display showing the current preset number.
Press “M+” or” M-“ to select the desired preset number.
Press “MEM” once again to confirm the selected preset number.
To listen to a preset station, use the M+ or M- buttons to select your desired radio station.
Improve the radio signal:
For FM, pull out the telescopic antenna. To improve FM Reception, incline and turn the aerial antenna.
Reduce its length if the FM-signal is too strong (very close to a transmitter).
Volume:
Adjust the desired volume level by rotating the volume knob to the left or right.
Earphones:
Connect an earphone with a 3.5mm jack input to listen to the radio. The speaker will go off and the sound
will be heard from the earphones.
Note: When using the radio through earphones, avoid listening at high volume level to prevent possible
hearing damage.
Aux input:
Connect the Aux cable from the output of your Audio device (MP3, discman, ..) to the Aux input of the
radio.
Turn on the audio device and playback the desired track. Adjust the volume from the radio by rotating the
volume knob.
USB & Micro-SD playback:
You can playback your stored MP3 files from a USB pen drive or a Micro-SD card.
Press the “MODE” button to select USB or Micro-SD function.
Make sure you insert the USB or Micro-SD card in the correct direction. Do not force in
the case you find it difficult to insert it.
The unit will automatically detect the USB or Micro-SD card and will start to playback automatically
the first track.
Press the NEXT or PREVIOUS button to listen to the next or previous track.
Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to pause the music at any time.
Note: If your Micro-SD card does not playback any file, please check that it is not locked.
