The water to use in your iron

Your iron has been designed to be used with tap water. However, the generator water tank must

be rinsed out once in every ten times it is used.

If your water is very hard (check with your water board), you can use a mix of tap water and

distilled water in the following proportions:

- 50% tap water

- 50% distilled water

Types of water to be avoided.

The types of water indicated below contain organic or mineral elements which may eventually

causespitting, brown stains or premature wear of your appliance:

pure commercial demineralised water, water from clothes driers, perfumed water, softened water,

water from refrigerators, battery water, water from air conditioners, pure distilled water or rain

water.

2- PREPARING YOUR STEAM GENERATOR

1. Place the generator on a stable, horizontal heat-resistant surface.

2. Check that the appliance is not plugged in.

3. Open the water tank filler cover.

4. Fill up the water tank using a jug; do not fill beyond the Max level indicated .

5. Close the filler cover.

3- USING YOUR STEAM GENERATOR

1.Take the power lead out of its storage compartment and plug into an earthed electrical socket.

2. Heat up the water in the steam generator tank by pressing on the "on" button; the green light flashes .

It will take around 2 minutes for steam to be produced which is indicated by a continuous green

"appliance ready" light.

• The first time the appliance is used, there may be fumes and smell but this is not harm-

ful, will not affect use and will disappear rapidly.

• When starting, and regularly while it is being used, your appliance's electric pump injects

water into the steam generator tank. It makes a noise but this is quite normal.

4- OPERATING THE CONTROLS

• The "on" button: press to switch on and press each time the water tank is filled.

• Flashing green light: the water is heating up in the steam generator tank.

• Continuous green light: the appliance is ready for use.

• Continuous red light: the water tank is empty.

5- STEAM IRONING

1. Set the iron's thermostat control to the type of fabric to be ironed .

2.The iron's thermostat light comes on : the iron has heated to the correct temperature when the light

goes out.

3. If necessary, adjust the steam flow on the base . It will take a few minutes for it to become effective.

4.To obtain steam, press on the steam control button beneath the iron handle and hold in .

The steam stops when you release the button.

6- WHEN THE RED LIGHT ON THE BASE COMES ON

There is no more steam. The water tank is empty .

Fill up the water tank and press on the "on" button to continue ironing.

7- VERTICAL STEAM FUNCTION

1. Set the iron thermostat and steam control dial on the base to the MAX position.

2. Hang the garment on a coat hanger and hold the fabric slightly taut with one hand.

3. Holding the iron in a vertical position, tilted slightly forwards, press repeatedly on the steam control

button (under the iron handle) moving the iron from top to bottom .

8- TURBO STEAM FUNCTION (depending on the model)

Recommendations :

• The first time you use the appliance or if you have not used steam for a few minutes:

press on the steam control button several times, holding the iron away from garments.

This will eliminate any cold water in the steam circuit.

• Start with the fabrics to be ironed at a low temperature (

●) and finish with those which

need higher temperatures (

●●● or Max).

If you are ironing :

- At a low temperature: set the steam control dial on the base to the low position.

- Thick fabric: increase the steam setting.

- Mixed fibre fabrics: set the ironing temperature to the setting for the most delicate fibre

- Woollen garments: press repeatedly on the steam control button to obtain short bursts

of steam, without placing the iron on the garment itself.

- To iron without using steam, do not press on the steam control button under the iron handle.

Recommendations: For fabrics other than linen or cotton, hold the iron a few centimetres from

the garment to avoid burning the fabric.

Press 2 or 3 times on the burst of steam control to obtain a more powerful turbo steam :

• for ironing thicker fabrics

• to eliminate creases.

Be careful : use turbo steam function very carefuly because of the exceptional power of steam

that may cause burns.

Be careful:

• To ensure that the steam generator tank continues to function efficiently and avoid scale

being discharged, the steam generator tank must be rinsed out once in every 10 times it

is used.

• Do not under any circumstance use descalers for rinsing the steam generator tank : this

could damage it.

9- PUTTING YOUR STEAM GENERATOR AWAY

1. Unplug the appliance from the socket

2. Place the iron on the rest

3. Put the power cord in the appropriate compartment

4.Tidy away the iron-base cord by making a loop passing over the front of the generator and then fastening

the cord in the clip .

5. Let the iron and iron rest cool for 30 minutes.

You can then safely put your steam generator away.

10- CARING FOR YOUR STEAM GENERATOR

• Be careful, ensure that the appliance is not plugged in and the soleplate has cooled down

before cleaning.

• Do not use detergent or descaling products to clean the soleplate or steam generator tank.

• Never put the iron or base under the tap

• Do not place the iron on a metal rest as this could damage it. Place it on the iron-rest on the base: it has

non-slip pads and has been designed to withstand high temperatures

The iron soleplate: Regularly clean the soleplate with a damp, plastic, non-metallic washing up pad. If you are

using starch, it should be sprayed onto the reverse side of the fabric to be ironed.

The base: Clean the plastic parts of the appliance occasionally with a slightly damp cloth.

11- RINSING OUT THE STEAM GENERATOR TANK

12- SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Check that the steam generator is cold, is unplugged for more than 2 hours prior to

cleaning and the water tank is empty.

2. Unscrew the cord clip by turning a quarter turn to the left .

3. Using a coin unscrew the steam generator plug .

4. Using a jug, fill the steam generator tank (in the base) with 1/4 litre of water through the generator drain

plug hole.

5. Shake the base for a few moments and then empty completely over a sink or bucket .

6. Replace and tighten up the steam generator plug, without filling up again.

7. Put the cord clip back in place .

• Your steam generator is an electric appliance. It should be used in normal usage conditions.

• This appliance is intended for domestic use only. It is fitted with 2 safety systems :

- A pressure release valve which, in the event of a malfunction, releases any excess steam.

- An overheat fuse to prevent the appliance from overheating.

• Always plug your steam generator into:

- An electrical installation with voltage between 220 and 240V. Connecting to the wrong voltage may cause irrepa-

rable damage to the appliance and will invalidate your guarantee.

- An earthed socket. If you are using a mains extension lead, ensure that it is correctly rated (10A) with an earth,

and is fully extended.

• If the power cord or iron-base cord is damaged, they must be replaced by an Approved Service Centre as this is dan-

gerous.

Be careful:

•

The soleplate and generator iron-rest can become very hot and cause burns: never touch these parts.

• Your appliance gives off steam which can cause burns.

• Handle your iron carefully, particularly when using the vertical steam function

• Always keep the steam generator away from children. Never leave the appliance unattended until it has cooled down

(around 2 hours). Never leave your appliance unattended when it is plugged into the mains.

• Always unplug your appliance:

- Before filling the water tank or rinsing out the steam generator tank

- After use.

Before cleaning

• Before unscrewing the steam generator drain plug, always wait until the generator is cold (unplugged for more than 2

hours).

• Never fill up using the drain opening (except for cleaning).

• Never immerse the generator in water or any other liquid. Never put it under the tap

• When rinsing out the steam generator tank, never fill directly from the tap.

• If the appliance falls, receives a violent blow or is not operating correctly, do not dismantle it as this could be dange-

rous: take it to an Approved Service Centre.

• If you lose or damage the steam generator drain plug, have it replaced by an Approved Service Centre.

• This appliance is designed for domestic use only.

In the case of professional use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts

no responsibility and the guarantee does not apply.

WIRING INSTRUCTIONS

Warning : this appliance must be earthed.

Important : the wires in this lead are coloured in accordance with the following codes :

- Green and yellow : earth - Brown : live - Blue : neutral.

Connect the green/yellow wire to the terminal in the plug marked ”E” or by the earth symbol or coloured green and yel-

• Connect the brown wire to the terminal in the plug marked ”L” or coloured red.

• Connect the blue wire to the terminal in the plug marked ”N” or coloured black.A 13 amp fuse should be fit-

ted when the appliance is connected to a BS 1363A plug.
