1Overview
Press at a Glance is an information tool that provides a number of reports about the status of the press.
These reports include information about press errors, paper jams, supply usage, press settings, and the
status of numerous press components. Press at a Glance provides a concise view for verifying the
proper functionality of the press.
You can access the Press at a Glance tool through the off-press home page or by using the on-press
interface.
Figure 1-1 HP Indigo PrintCare screen
If you access Press at a Glance through the off-press home page, a prompt appears asking you to select
the .pag data file for the session. The .pag file contains all the data used in the reports and graphs.
Browse to the appropriate .pag file, select it and click Open.
Figure 1-2 Open .pag file dialog
NOTE: You can also open Press at a Glance by using Windows Explorer to browse for a .pag file
and double-clicking on it. This action opens Press at a Glance using the selected .pag file.

The Press at a Glance screen
The Press at a Glance screen is composed of several key components. They are described in the figure
below.
Figure 1-3 Press at a Glance screen
1 Primary Report drop-down: lists the primary report options for Press at a Glance.
2 Secondary Report drop-down: lists the sub report options for the selected item in the Primary List.
3 Reporting Period drop-down: displays the default date ranges for each report. You can specify a specific date range by
choosing the Select Dates option from this list and clicking in the Reporting Period text box to display a calendar tool to
select the dates from.
4 Date Range text box: displays the specific dates indicated by the selection in the Reporting Period drop-down. If you
choose the Select Date option from the Reporting Period drop-down list, you can click on the Reporting Period text box
to display a calendar and select the specific dates.
5 Load/Refresh button: allows you to specify the database file for Press at a Glance when viewing it off-press. To change
the database file, click Load and browse for a different file. When viewing Press at a Glance on-press, the button is labeled
Refresh. Click it to refresh the information from the database.
6 Report and table column headers: describes the information presented in each report. The columns can be sorted by
clicking on the header titles.
7 Report display area: The information for the selected report is displayed here.
8 Graph display area: A graphical representation of the report data is displayed here.
Each report that features a table can be sorted by each of the column values. To sort a list, click on one
of the column headers. Each list can be sorted in ascending or descending order.
Some of the report drop-downs for graphical reports may display an “i” icon (
) next to the report name.
The icon indicates that one or more values charted in the report is outside of the normal operating range.
When you view the report, the graphs containing the value(s) outside of the normal operating range are
highlighted with a red border.
2 Chapter 1 Overview ENWW
Many graphs in the Press at a Glance reports feature a light gray band at the top and the bottom of the
graph (callout 1). These bands define the borders of the operational range for the chart. If a data values
appears within a gray band, then the value is outside of the normal operating range.

Main
The Main information screen displays general information about the press such as the serial number,
software version, and total number of impressions. Use this screen to verify general information about
the press. There are no secondary reports available on this screen. Selecting different date ranges only
affects the value of Average Daily Impressions.

Errors
The Errors screen provides a list of the errors that have occurred within the specified reporting period.
You can view all of the errors grouped by error type, only the errors that caused to press to stop printing,
or you can view the system log which displays the log of each individual error. For more information
about each report, see the table below.
To view a description of the error, click on a listing (callout 1) in the report to display a pop-up description.
Figure 2-2 Error List screen
Report Description
Error List Displays a list of all of the critical errors (excluding information
and warning events) for the reporting period. The errors are
grouped with the most frequent error appearing at the top of
the list. A graph that charts the daily error rate per 1 million
impressions is displayed beneath the error list.
Stop Printing Errors Displays a list of all of the errors that caused the press to stop
printing for the reporting period. The errors are grouped by the
error type with the most frequent error type appearing at the
top of the list. A graph that charts the daily stop printing error
rate per 1 million impressions is displayed beneath the error
list.
System Log Displays the system log of errors that occurred within the
reporting period. The errors are displayed in the order that they
occurred with the most recent appearing at the top of the list.

To view a more detailed report listing each error along with additional related information, double-click
on a listing in the report. The more detailed report includes the following information: Error Event, Time,
and Press State. To return to the original Error report, click Back.

Paper Jams
The Paper Jams screen provides reports on paper jams that have occurred in the press within the
specified reporting period. You can view the individual paper jam errors grouped by jam type or view
groups of paper jams sorted by drawer, substrate, or mode.
To view a detailed description of the Paper Jam type, aim the mouse over a listing (callout 1) in the
report to display a pop-up description.
Figure 2-4 Paper Jams List screen
Report Description
Paper Jam List Displays a full list of the paper jams that have occurred within
the specified reporting period. Below the list of paper jams is a
graph that illustrates the daily rates of total paper jams per
million sheets. Click on an error in the list to display information
about that type of paper jam.
Paper Jam by drawer Displays a count of paper jams sorted by the drawer from which
they originated.
Paper Jam by substrates Displays a count of paper jams sorted by substrate name.
Paper Jam by mode Displays a count of paper jams sorted by mode.
Replaced substrates Displays a list of the substrates that have been replaced within
the reporting period.
To view a more detailed report listing each paper jam along with additional paper jam information,
double-click on a listing in the report. The more detailed report includes the following information: Jam
Time, Substrate, Weight, Thickness, Length, Width, Type, Feeder Drawer, Mode, Home Offset A, Home

Environment
The Environment screen provides several reports that display charts of information about the
environment in and around the press. The charts provide information on the ambient environment, the
machine environment, and the MTC Blower environment. Each chart displays three metrics for the
measured value: the daily maximum, the daily minimum, and the daily average value.
NOTE: If you select Last day from the date drop-down list, then only the specific value readings for
the day are charted instead of the maximum, minimum, and average values.

Report Description
Ambient Displays graphs that chart the external temperature and the
relative humidity of the press environment.
Press Displays graphs that chart the machine temperatures.
MTC Blower Displays graphs that chart the temperatures of the MTC Blower
in low, nominal, and minimum states.
