WARNINGS - COMPONENTS

1 - GENERAL INFORMATION

This canopy hood is designed to be fixed to any rigid vertical surface, over a gas or electric hotplate and can

be used either in the extraction mode (ducted to the outside) or in the recirculation mode (internal recycling),

by using the recirculation chimney kit to be purchased as an accessory.

Before commencing the installa-

tion, consideration should be given to the difficulties to be found during installation and to the bulky

weight of the hood. The installation work must be undertaken by a qualified and competent per-son in

conformity to the rules concerning the evacuation of contaminated air. The manufacturer disclaims all

liability for any damage or injury caused as a result of not following the instructions for installation

contained in the following text.

2 - COMPONENTS

The hood comprises the following (fig.1 ):

• No.1 canopy C complete with controls, light-

ing and ventilator unit

• No.1 telescopic chimney, comprising:

No.1 upper chimney element S

No.1 lower chimney element I

• No.2 directional grills G

• No.1 reduction flange Ø 150-120 A

• No.1 recirculation spigot F

• No.2 additional side recirculation spigots F1

• No. 1 additional recirculation spigot P

• No.2 wall brackets 1

• No.1 plastic bag containing screws, plugs, 2

rings holding the hood, along with technical

documents

• Optional splashback B

3 - SAFETY WARNINGS

3.1 - When used in the extraction mode the cooker hood ducting must not be connected to a flue

which is used for exhausting fumes from appliances supplied with energy other than electric

such as a central heating flue or water heating flue.

3.2 - Before connecting to the mains supply ensure that the mains voltage corresponds with the volt-

age on the rating plate inside the hood.

3.3 - Connect the cooker hood to the mains via a double pole switch which has 3 mm clearance be-

tween the contacts.

3.4 - The appliance must be earthed.

3.5 - When installed, the hood must be positioned at least 65 cm above a cooking appliance.

3.6 - Never do flambé cooking under this cooker hood.

3.7 - Never leave frying pans unattended during use as overheated fats and oils may catch fire.

3.8 - Before carring out any kind of maintenance or cleaning, disconnect the hood from the mains

supply.

3.9 - If the room where the cooker hood is to be used contains a fuel burning appliance such as a

central heating boiler then this must be of the room sealed or balanced flue type. If other types

of flue or appliance are fitted ensure that there is an adequate supply of air into the room. When

the cooker hood is used in conjunction with other appliances supplied with energy other than

electric, the negative pressure in the room must not exceed 0,04 mbar to prevent fumes being

drawn back into the room by the cooker hood.

INSTALLATION

Installation instructions

For easy installation proceed as follows:

• Fix the wall brackets

• Fix the canopy hood

• Connect the hood to the mains supply and ensure that it works properly

• Set the hood for recirculation or evacuation

• Fix the telescopic chimney stack

Fitting the wall brackets and Splashback

Please refer to (fig. 2)

• Draw a vertical line on the wall, from the centre of the area in which the hood is to be in-

stalled up to the ceiling. This is to ensure the correct vertical alignment of the various parts.

Positioning the lower rings

• Mark a point on the vertical line at the following distance from the cooker plate:

• Without splashback d = 892 mm min.

• With splashback (fig. 2a) d = 242 + H mm, where H = the height in mm of the visible part

of the splashback. Because of the various different splashbacks that are available, this meas-

urement must be made on the splashback supplied with your cooker hood.

• At the point marked, draw a horizontal line parallel to the surface of the cooker top.

• Mark on the horizontal line the centres of the two holes to be drilled, at a distance to the left

and to the right of the vertical line of 388 mm for 90 cm models, or of 538 mm for 120 cm

models.

It will be possible to make slight adjustments using the hood adjustment screws.

Positioning wall bracket 1:

• Place one of the two wall brackets 1 against the wall at a distance of approximately 1 or 2

mm from the ceiling or top limit, aligning it with the vertical line.

• Mark on the wall the two keyholes for the wall bracket.

• Place the other wall bracket 1 against the wall, aligning it with the vertical line at a distance

X, measured as shown in fig. 2, equivalent to the height of the U-shaped upper section S

provided with the hood. The position X may vary, according to the various sizes of upper

chimney element available.

• Mark on the wall the centres of the keyholes for wall bracket.

• Pilot drill all the holes marked, using an 8 mm drill. Fix the wall brackets 1 and the rings

using the 8 mm rawl plugs and screws provided.

Splashback (optional)

When a splashback is to be fitted, the distance between the cooker hood and the cooking appli-

ances will be determined by the height of the splashback B and of any raised back on the bot-

tom units. The splashback is to be installed before installing the canopy. If the splashback is to

be fixed to the wall using both the top and bottom fixing holes care must be taken to ensure

that the splashback is fitted at the correct height before fixing it into position. The fitting

should be undertaken by a competent person with experience in this type of installation. If the

splashback is to be fixed through the top fixing holes only, proceed as follows:

• Put the splashback on the worktop as illustrated (fig. 2b), then hold it against the wall, en-

suring that it is correctly positioned.

• Mark the holes for the top fixing screws on the wall.

• Pilot drill the wall using an 8 mm drill and fix the splashback using the 8 mm rawl plugs

and screws provided.

• If the fixing holes in the bottom of the splashback are not to be used to secure the splashback

to the wall the installer should ensure that the bottom edge is tucked down behind the rear of

the worktop.

Fixing the canopy

• Fasten the angle iron L to the hood

canopy C (fig. 3) using the five 2.9 x

9.5 screws provided. If a ducting ver-

sion of the hood is to be used, ensure

that the two holes 1 are left open, as

these will later serve to connect the

evacuation spigot A.

• Hook the hood canopy C to the

lower rings (fig. 4).

• Remove the metal grease filters (see

paragraph Maintenance).

• Vertically adjust the canopy and

align it horizontally b y turning the

screws V1 (fig. 5).

• Turn the screws V2 until the hood is

tightly locked against the wall (fig.

5).

Electrical connection and working test

• Before connecting to the mains supply ensure that the mains voltage corresponds with the

voltage on the rating plate inside the hood.

• Connect the cooker hood to the mains via a double pole switch which has 3 mm clearance

between the contacts.

• The appliance must be earthed.

• Once the electrical connection has been completed, check that worktop illumination, motor

and speed work properly.

Ducting or Recirculation fitting

Ducting fitting

• The cooker hood can be ducted to the outside

using either rigid or flexible fire retardant

ducting of 120 or 150 mm.

The choice is left to the installer. When 120

mm ducting is to be used it will be necessary

to install the reduction flange

item A on the air outlet (fig.6).

• Connect the rigid or flexible ducting (which

must be fastened using suitable pipe connec-

tors, not provided) to the reduction flange A

and to the external evacuation ducting (fig. 7).

Suitable material for the above operation must

be obtained by the installer.

Recirculation fitting

• When the hood is installed in the recirculation

mode, the air is recirculated into the kitchen

through the two venting grilles G located on

either side of the lower U-shaped chimney I.

• Connect the additional spigot P to the round

fan outlet, pushing it downwards, and fit spi-

got F to additional spigot P in a similar man-

ner (make sure that the two additional side re-

circulation spigots F1 are fitted to spigot F ).

Make sure that the height of the assembly F+P

corresponds to the height of the chimney out-

let (fig.8).

• Fit the recirculation spigot item F into the

round outlet on top of the canopy while press-

ing down on the spigot until it snaps into posi-

tion (make sure that the two additional side re-

circulation spigots F1 are fitted to spigot F)

(fig.9).

• Install the charcoal filters inside the canopy as

instructed in paragraph Maintenance. Nota:

The two venting grilles must not be fitted into

the chimney stack until the chimney stack has

been installed onto the wall above the canopy.

Fitting the telescopic chimney

• To fit the upper section S, first expand the two side pieces slightly, fit them over the wall

brackets 1 and then close the side pieces again until tight. The top folds of the upper section

will remain connected to the wall bracket 1. Secure the upper section to wall bracket using

two of the self-threading screws provided in the bag of accessories.

• Fit the lower section I between wall bracket 1 and the wall in the same way, using the other

two self-threading screws to fix it to the base. NOTE - The upper S and lower I sections are

fixed to the wall bracket in the middle 1 through a spring and the connection is made by

pushing both sections vigorously toward the centre.

• Once the chimney stack has been installed, fit the two venting grilles into the apertures lo-

cated on either side of the lower chimney section. The grilles are marked with two arrows

and should be fitted with one arrow pointing upwards and the other toward the front. When

the hood is used in the recirculation mode ensure that the grilles are properly secured to the

recirculation spigot item F, as illustrated in fig. 10.

USE

MAINTENANCE

Grease filters

CLEANING METAL SELF- SUPPORTING GREASE FILTERS

• The filters must be cleaned every 2 months of op-

eration, or more frequently for particularly heavy

usage, and can be washed in a dishwasher.

• Remove the filters one at a time by pushing them

towards the back of the group and pulling down at

the same time.

• Wash the filters, taking care not to bend them. Al-

low them to dry before refitting.

• When refitting the filters, make sure that the han-

dle is visible on the outside.

Grease filters

CLEANING METAL GREASE FILTERS

The filters are washable at least every 2 months of op-

eration, or more frequently for particularly heavy usage.

• Remove the filters one at a time, supporting them

with one hand and turning the safety knobs (pull and

turn).

• Wash the filters, taking care not to bend them. Allow

them to dry before refitting.

• Replace them and fix them using the safety knobs

provided (pull and turn).

Activated charcoal filter (Recirculation version)

These filters are not washable and cannot be regenerated, and

must be replaced approximately every 4 months of operation, or

more frequently with heavy usage.

REPLACING THE ACTIVATED CHARCOAL FILTER

• Remove the metal grease filters

• Remove the saturated activated charcoal filter as shown (A).

• Fit the new filters (B).

• Replace the metal grease filters.

Lighting

LIGHT REPLACEMENT

40 W incandescent light.

• Remove the metal terminals fixing the light cover.

• Slide the light cover to the right until the left hand is free.

Lower it slightly and slide it to the left to free it completely.

• Unscrew the bulbs and replace them with new ones having the

same characteristics.

• Replace the lighting support in reverse order.

Lighting

LIGHT REPLACEMENT

20 W halogen light.

• Remove the 2 screws fixing the Lighting support, and pull it

out of from the Hood.

• Extract the lamp from the Support.

• Replace with another of the same type, making sure that the

two pins are properly inserted in the lamp holder socket holes.

• Replace the Support, fixing it in place with the two screws re-

moved as above.
