4. STARTING UP
Attaching and detaching the blending
attachment
All attaching and detaching operations should
be done when the appliance is unplugged.
To detach the blending attachment from the
motor unit, unscrew it in an anticlockwise
direction, as shown in fig. 2. To attach it,
screw it in the opposite direction.
Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
Detach the blending attachment from the motor
unit, and clean it under the faucet or submerge it
in soapy water. Do not wash the blending
attachment and the cup in the dishwasher.
Do no use abrasive substances or solvents for
cleaning.
Make sure the blending attachment is dry before
putting the appliance back together.
The motor unit may be cleaned with a dry or
slightly damp cloth.
NEVER SUBMERGE THE MOTOR UNIT IN
WATER OR PLACE IT UNDER A RUNNING
FAUCET.

Before using for the first time, clean the
blending attachment and the jug in warm,
soapy water and dry the attachment well before
reassembling. See section entitled "Cleaning".
Never submerge the motor unit in water or
hold under a running tap.

Assemble the blender as described in the
previous section.
• To avoid spillage or splashing, before
switching the appliance on, insert the
blending attachment into the ingredients in
an upright position.
• Plug the appliance into the mains.
• Press the button gently at first until the
blade start rotating. This is the slowest
speed and is recommended for making
mayonnaise, blending liquids or fluid
masses slowly and carefully and mixing
beaten egg whites or flour into a dough or
other mixture.
• To select the high speed option, press the
button down as far as it will go. This speed
is recommended for beating egg whites,
cake mixtures and sauces etc., as well as
for mashing potatoes and making soup,
mincemeat and special dough for baking.
• You should not allow the appliance to
function continuously for any longer than 20
seconds for models B-340P and 345M, or 3
