Installation trouble shooting Guide
1. Camcorder not installing, Windows giving an error message when the
camcorder was plugged
in.
Resolution
First please ensure that the ‘DVD RAM Driver’ has been installed from the
included CD ROM. This can be checked in Add/Remove Programs, in ‘Control
Panel’
After this has been confirmed you will need to check ‘Device Manager’ to get into
device manager you will need to RIGHT CLICK on ‘My Computer’ and select
‘Properties’. Select the ‘Hardware’ TAB and then click device manager. You will find
the DVD Camera under ‘Universal Serial Bus controllers (See Below).
You will then need to remove the device from ‘Device manager’. To do this RIGHT
CLICK on the Panasonic device and select ‘Uninstall’
After this has been done please ensure that the Panasonic CD ROM is inserted in the
CD ROM drive on the computer. You will then need the computer to re-install the
DVD camcorder. To do this RIGHT CLICK on ‘Universal Serial Bus controllers’ and
select ‘Scan for Hardware changes’. The computer should then display ‘Found new
Hardware’ and display this Option.
On this option you will need to select ‘No, not at this time, and CLICK Next. This
option will then appear….
Select the ‘Install the software automatically’ option and then click next this should
then install the USB Interface. If the windows LOGO testing message appears select
‘Continue anyway’ (See Below)
The computer should then display a confirmation Screen (See below)
CLICK ‘Finished’
The computer should then display found new hardware again for the USB-SCSI
controller…
Again Select ‘Install the software automatically’. This should then install the USB
SCSI controller. If The Windows LOGO testing message appears click ‘Continue
anyway’ (See below)
Again you should see a confirmation screen (See below)
CLICK ‘Finish’
To confirm that the Drive has been created open ‘My Computer’. You should see 2
NEW drives an ‘MX80’ and ‘Removable Disc’ (See Below). Please note that the
Drive below that says VDR_M30 is the Panasonic CD ROM that came with the
camcorder NOT the Camcorder itself.
2. After Installation of the camcorder is confirmed the following error message
appears in the DVD Movie Album software:-

The problem is caused because the DVD Movie album software is trying to use the
wrong drive on the computer, you will need to change which drive is being used in
the preferences:
First CLICK the ‘Preference’ Button on this message.
The preference window will then be displayed; you need to CLICK on ‘Device
Setting’. Then from the Drop down box in ‘Drive select’ Highlight the ‘MX80’ drive
and CLICK ‘OK’(See Below)
Once you have CLICKED ‘OK’ the previous screen will appear and your video clips
should then start to appear on the right hand side (See Below)
You are now able to use the software to EDIT or EXPORT the video clips, for further

select ‘DVD-MovieAlbum Manual. (See Below)
3. After Installation of the camcorder is confirmed the following error message
appears in DVD movie album:-

Please make sure that no other application is trying to access the ‘MX80’ drive. Also
if ROXIO easy CD Creator is installed on the computer, it will cause this problem.
You will need to uninstall ROXIO software in order to use the DVD movie album
software.
