Electric shock can kill.
Be sure to turn off the input power
using the disconnect switch at the fuse
box before working on the equipment.
Electric current flowing through any
conductor causes localized Electric
and Magnetic Fields (EMF). Welding
current creates EMF fields around
welding cables and welding machines.
Make sure cables are not energized or
connected to a power source before
repairing cable.
Make sure you have all the necessary
safety items. Gloves, Safety Glasses
and closed toe shoes are
recommended.
Tool Application: The cable crimping tool is
used to replace or create new welding cables
that require a cable lug at the end.
Tips: When crimping cable larger than 4/0 it
may take multiple strikes to create the crimp.
Tool Operation:
STEP ACTION
1. Make sure you have all the
necessary safety items. Gloves,
safety glasses and closed toe
shoes.
2. Locate KH538 Cable Crimping tool
3. Locate hammer, new cable and
welding lug.
4. Cable will need to have insulation
removed in order to provide proper
connection.

5. Place the cable lug on the end of
the cable receiving the cable lug.
6. Lift handle on crimping tool and
insert cable and lug into “v” notch.
7. With Crimping tool on flat solid
surface strike the top of the tool
with a hammer. (may require
multiple strikes to crimp large
cables.)
8. Remove cable from tool and
operation is complete.
