Shiftlock

Whenyourcarisparked,thegearselectorislockedinthe(P)arkposition.Toreleasetheselector

fromthisposition,turntheignitionkeytopositionII(orstarttheengine),depressthebrake

pedal,pressthebuttononthefrontsideofthegearselectorandmovetheselectorfrom(P)ark.

Keylock

Thismeansthatwhenyouswitchofftheignition,thegearselectormustbeinthe(P)arkposition

beforethekeycanberemovedfromtheignitionswitch.

AntilockBrakeSystem(ABS)

TheABSsysteminyourcarperformsaselfdiagnostictestwhenthevehiclefirstreachesthe

speedofapproximately12mph(20km/h).Thebrakepedalwillpulsateseveraltimesanda

soundmaybeaudiblefromtheABScontrolmodule.Thisisnormal.

FueltankcoverThefueltankcover,locatedontherightrearfender,isconnectedtoyourcar's

centrallockingsystem.Thedriver'sdoormustbeunlockedbeforethefueltankcovercanbe

opened.

Fuelfillercap

Afterrefueling,closethefuelfillercapbyturningitclockwiseuntilitclicksintoplaceIfthiscap

isnotclosedtightlyoriftheengineisrunningwhenthecarisrefueled,theMalfunctionIndicator

Lamp("CheckEngine"light)mayindicateafault.

usedinourplants50%since1991.

Inuse,Volvowasthefirstintheworldtointroduceintoproductionathreewaycatalytic

converterwithaLambdasond,nowcalledoxygensensor,in1976.Thecurrentversionofthis

highlyefficientsystemreducesemissionsofharmfulsubstances(CO,HC,NOx)fromthe

exhaustpipebyapproximately95%andthesearchtoeliminatetheremainingemissions

continues.VolvoistheonlyautomobilemanufacturertoofferCFCfreeretrofitkitsfortheair

conditioningsystemforallmodelsasfarbackastheM/Y1975240.Advancedelectronicengine

controls,refinedpurificationsystemsandcleanerfuelsarebringingusclosertoourgoal.
