Yeastundergoesashortaerobic(requiringoxygen)stagebeforecommencingtheanaerobic(nooxygen)
stageinwhichsugarsareconvertedtoethanolandcarbondioxide.
Intheaerobicstage,oxygendissolvedinthewortisconsumedbytheyeasttoaidyeastgrowthandthe
formationofergosterolusedinthefermentationcycle.Ifthereisnotenoughoxygendissolvedinthewort,
yeastgrowthandenergyreserveswillsuffer,resultinginasluggishfermentationwithriskoflow
attenuation.
Usageofthisaerationkitwillensurethatthebestpossiblestarttoyourfermentationisachieved.
Instruction
1. Ensurethatyourwortisbelow25Cbecauseitisextremelyhardtogetoxygentodissolveinliquid
abovethistemperature.Boilingalsoremovesalloxygenfromwort.
2. Fitshortpiece(5cm)of4mminternaldiameterairlineontotheendofthepump.
3. Nextfitthesanitaryairfiltertotheotherendofthe4mmIDairline.
4. Totheothersideofthesanitaryairfilterfitthe120cmlengthof6mmIDairline.
5. Totheotherendofthe6mmairlinefitthesinteredairstone.
6. Turnontheairpumpsothatairisflowingthoughthestone.
7. Ensureairispumpingthroughthestonebeforedippingthesinteredairstoneintoyourwort.
8. Runtheairpumpforapproximately15minutes.
ImportantNote
ALWAYSTURNONTHEPUMPBEFOREIMMERSINGTHESTONEINTOTHEWORT/WATER.Ifthestoneis
immersedintothewaterbeforethepumpisturnedonliquidisdrawnintotheverysmallpoursandwill
drasticallyreducetheairflowthroughthestone.Ifthestoneaccidentallygetsaturatedwithoutthepump
beingondryoutthestoneintheovenorinawell‐ventilatedplaceandthenstartagain.
Cleaning
Tocleantheassemblysimplyputtheairhoseandsinteredfilterintoboilingwaterandletdripdry.Storein
plasticbag.
CAUTION
Donotcleantheairfilterandneverreversethedirectionoftheairfilter.IfthereissignsofdirtItheairfilter
thendisposeofandreplacetheairfilterimmediately.Oneairfiltershouldlastmorethan100batchesof
beerifcaredforcorrectly.
