2.4 Safety Advice (Precautions)
Use up-to-date security software!
Secure operation of the PC system can be at risk as a result of malware such a
viruses and Trojans, as well as related threats such as denial-of-service attacks.
Therefore, make sure that the latest security software and definitions are always
installed on the PC system.
Disable or uninstall software that is no longer required!
The vulnerability of a PC system against malware and related threats increases
with the number of installed or active software components (applications and
services). Therefore, uninstall or disable software components that are not
needed for the purpose at hand.
Do not automate safety-related areas of the application with flexROOM
®
!
Never automate safety-related applications (e.g., emergency lighting) with
flexROOM
®
.
Ensure operational reliability through an external controller.
Do not use automation in emergency exits and rescue routes!
Do not use flexROOM® to automate any building systems in which emergency
exits and escape routes must be kept clear. For example, do not automate blinds
on emergency exit doors/windows.
Separation between flexROOM
®
and company TCP/IP network useful!
Due to the different application areas in terms of the data, network configuration,
etc. used, we recommend separation between the flexROOM® network and the
company TCP/IP network.
Only use a suitable controller!
Control tasks in flexROOM
®
applications are handled by PFC200 controllers.
Various versions of these are offered.
The following version is used for flexROOM
®
applications:

is a building automation system for commissioning, operation and
maintenance of sunblind control, lighting control and for controlling heating and
cooling technology.
Figure 1: The flexROOM
®
Room Segment Concept
The WAGO-flexROOM
®
system is implemented through distribution boxes,
*)
based on system enclosures with project-specific hardware and software.
The controller included in the distribution box (PFC200 controller), the
flexROOM
®
Office application running on it and the sensors/actuators connected
to the distribution box are adapted to the respective space requirements.
The room segment concept is visualized via the flexROOM
®
Office application in
an HTML-5 output format. The application can be reached via a Web browser,
which is used to configure the distribution box. No programming is required. It is
very easy to adjust the floor plan and functions with the click of a mouse, even
when the use of the building or room changes.
The room segmentation is achieved by division into window segments. A window
segment forms the smallest segmentation unit and contains the complete
individual room control. Several segments can be connected in series, and any
number of rooms (with one to x segments) can be designed in the application as
needed. Individual room and open-plan offices can be easily implemented in this
way.

Version 1.1.0
4 Quick Start Guide
This quick start guide describes the basic functions of the flexROOM
®
Office
application and serves as a quick introduction to sunblind, light and HVAC
configuration with flexROOM
®
.
This quick start guide first describes how you necessary your flexROOM
®
distribution box to a computer and how you assign your distribution box an IP
address. You need the IP address in order to access the distribution box via Web
browser and thus reach the flexROOM
®
Office application. If there is no
application on the distribution box yet, use the WAGOupload software to load the
application.
After opening the application and logging in, carry out a functional division of the
rooms by placing walls in a virtual building plan. A sunblind actuator, a DALI ECG
and a valve are automatically configured between these walls, i.e. utilization
units, in order to illustrate the function of the light, sunblind and HVAC
configuration. In an additional step, addresses are assigned to switches, and the
actuators are assigned. Operation is then tested via switches (moving the
sunblind up/down, switching the light on, opening/closing the valve).
4.1 Establish Connection to PC
In order to assign an IP address to the distribution box, you need a PC with an
RJ45 connection option for access to an ETHERNET network and a program for
viewing Web pages (Web browser).
flexROOM
®
distribution box and PC must be on the same network!
For access to the distribution box, the flexROOM
®
distribution box and the PC
must be on the same network.
1. Connect the flexROOM
®
distribution box to the ETHERNET interface of
your PC using a suitable network cable (patch cable).
2. Switch on the power supply.
After the power supply is switched on, the flexROOM
®
distribution box goes
through an initialization phase and is ready to use after a brief startup time.
The distribution box does not have to be switched on separately.
