7 Installation
!
7.1 Electrical installation
A
Proceed as follows:
Decide on the routing of the motor wire (fig. 2, page 3). Each head rail has
a separate cable (except for S1 or SO blind types).
Check the voltage of the blind (see cable label).
Choose a location for the control device (such as switch or remote control)
which must be installed in a visible location.
Connect the blind according to the circuit diagram:
Manually switched blinds (fig. 7, page 6)
Remotely controlled blinds (fig. 8, page 6)
Other control system (fig. 9, page 7)
I
WARNING! Risk of injury
Disconnect the power supply before you begin and ensure that it can not be
reconnected until installation has been completed.
NOTICE! Risk of damage
Ensure cables are not damaged during installation.
Ensure that a 12 V or 24 V stabilised
power supply line is available for the
drive (rated power 13.2 W) at the point of installation.
Ensure that the power supply line is suitably arranged and protected.
Ensure that routings of cables through walls or bulkheads are protected
and insulated by appropriate bushing, grommets or cable conduits.
Secure all cables to prevent any contact with moving parts.
NOTE
Momentary operation of the switch or automation system for 500 ms will
instruct the Somfy Centralis DC IB control unit to apply power to the blind
motor in the direction selected for a maximum of 3 min. To stop the Somfy
Centralis DC IB control unit press the centre stop button.

NOTICE! Risk of damage
Use packing material where required (fig. 3, page 4). The side tracks must
be perpendicular to the head rail.
Use screws and plugs suitable for the wall construction to fix the frame to
the recess. Pre-drill at the marked points. The heads of screws may be no
larger than 6.0 mm in diameter.
Ensure not to drill through the wall.
Ensure not to damage the channel in the side tracks.
Ensure not to leave screws or other debris inside the side tracks as this can
jam the shoes in the tracks.

Installation Powered Roofblind
24
It might be easier to loosely fit the four corner screws (1.) first to position and
hold the blind while the main fixings (3.) are fitted.
If fitting a curved frame then it is better to position the blind vertically using
the side track screws rather than the corner screws.
7.2.2 Connecting the motor
Connect the motor as shown:
Manually switched blinds (fig. 7, page 6).
Remotely controlled blinds (fig. 8, page 6) or
Other control system (fig. 9, page 7)
7.3 Frame fitting (flat pack version)
7.3.1 Frame assembly
A
Proceed as shown (fig. 5, page 5).
7.3.2 Frame fitting
A
Proceed as shown (fig. 6, page 5):
Align the blind with the window cut-out and mark where the holes are to be
drilled for the frame.
Fix the frame with the screws to the ceiling (2.).
It might be easier to loosely fit the four corner screws (1.) first to position and
hold the blind while the main fixings (3.) are fitted.
NOTICE! Risk of damage
When unpacking, leave the blue tape on the side tracks to aid assembly.
Ensure that the frame is not twisted during installation, as distortion will
damage the blind and effect operation of the blind.
NOTICE! Risk of damage
Use packing material where required (fig. 3, page 4).
Use suitable screws and plugs for the wall construction to fix the frame to
the recess. Pre-drill at the marked points. The heads of screws may be no
larger than 6.0 mm in diameter.
Ensure not to drill through the wall.
Ensure not to damage the channel in the side tracks.
Consider using two people to install the product if the blind is large or the
installation location is difficult to reach alone.
Take care not to leave screws or other debris inside the side tracks as this
can jam the shoes in the tracks.

Powered Roofblind Installation
If fitting a curved frame position the blind vertically using the side track
screws rather than the corner screws.
7.3.3 Connecting the motor
Connect the motor as shown:
Manually switched blinds (fig. 7, page 6).
Remotely controlled blinds (fig. 8, page 6) or
Using other control system (fig. 9, page 7)
7.3.4 Moving rail fitting
Proceed as shown (fig. 0, page 8).
Dependent on the version the blind is equipped with one or two moving
rails.
7.3.5 Blind panel fitting
A
I
Clip the fabric panel to the shoes (fig. c, page 9, steps 2., 3. and 4.).
Connect a Fabric 1 blind panel to the moving rail (fig. d, page 10, steps 1.,
2. and 3.).
Clip the next fabric panel to the shoes in the side tracks.
Extend the fabric panel to ensure the cords do not drop (fig. d, page 10,
step 4.).
Clip the second fabric panel to the first fabric panel (fig. d, page 10,
steps 5. and 6.).
Repeat the process for all panels (fig. d, page 10).
Power the blind to move all fabric panels towards the head rail (fig. e,
page 10)
NOTICE! Risk of damage
Ensure that the cording on each panel is routed correctly (fig. b, page 9).
Always extend the fabric panels completely before clipping them in. This pulls
the cords tight and prevents them from dropping and potentially getting
trapped when being clipped in.
NOTE
Connect the power and drive the moving rail away from the head rail before
you start fitting the panels (fig. c, page 9, step 1.). There is not enough
space to fit the panels with the shoes in the shipped position.
Check whether the moving rail is square and moves freely before fitting any
of the other panels. If the moving rail is not square it can be adjusted as
shown (fig. a, page 8).

Operation Powered Roofblind
26
Clip the last panel to the head rail (fig. e, page 10).
If necessary, you can remove a panel as shown (fig. f, page 11 to fig. g,
page 11).
7.3.6 Cover fitting (optional)
7.3.7 Surface cover
Proceed as shown (fig. h, page 12).
7.3.8 Recess cover
Proceed as shown (fig. i, page 12).
8Operation
A
I
Only if operated by switches: When operating the blind with switches
each switch operates each blind independently.
Only if operated with the AP Remote control: When operating the blind
with the AP Remote control each blind is independently operated via sepa-
rate channels on the remote control (except the DM version when both
blinds operate at the same time).
Each blind can be stopped in any position.
When operating the blind with an automation system, the operation is
dependent on the programming of the control interface.
NOTICE! Risk of damage while driving
Only for boats and yachts: If the blind is fitted beneath an open sunroof,
then the blind should be stowed when driving at more than 10 knots or with a
sea state of more than moderate, because this can damage the blind. Parts that
come loose may injure people in the vicinity.
NOTE
When operating the blind using switches or an automation
system: If the movement direction is reversed too quickly, the motor might
not detect the polarity change and will just stop. To prevent this, the power
must be off for at least 0.5 seconds before the movement direction is
reversed.
When the motor is stopped the power consumption falls to 8.5 mA. After
approximately 4 minutes the motor automatically switches off.
