Broan PM390 is a range hood designed for domestic cooking that helps to remove smoke, grease, and odors from the air. It features two 40-Watt light bulbs to illuminate the cooking surface, as well as multiple blower speeds to adjust the suction power. The range hood can be installed in a ducted configuration, where the air is exhausted outside the home, or in a non-ducted recirculation configuration, where the air is filtered and recirculated back into the kitchen.

1. Use this unit only in the manner intended by the manufacturer, if you

2. Before servicing or cleaning unit, switch power off at service panel

and lock service panel to prevent power from being switched on

accidentally. When the service disconnecting means cannot be

locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag,

to the service panel.

3. installation work and electrical wiring must be done by a qualified

person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards,

including fire-rated construction codes and standards.

4. Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of

gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to pre-

vent backdrafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer's

guidelines and safety standards such as those published by the Na-

tional Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Soci-

ety for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers

(ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.

5. When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical

wiring and other hidden utilities.

6. Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.

7. Do not use this unit with any separate solid-state speed control device.

8. To reduce the risk of fire, use only metal ductwork.

9. This unit must be grounded.

TO REDUCE THE RiSK OF A RANGE TOP GREASE FIRE:

A. Never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boilovers cause

smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite. Heat oils slowly on

low or medium settings.

B. Always turn hood ON when cooking at high heat or when fiambeing

food (i.e. Crepes Suzette, Cherries Jubilee, Peppercorn Beef

Flambe').

C. Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease should not be allowed to

accumulate on fan or filter.

D. Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for the size

of the surface element.

OF A RANGE TOP GREASE FIRE, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:*

1. SMOTHER FLAMES with a close-fitting lid, cookie sheet, or metal

A. You know you have a Class ABC extinguisher and you already

B. The fire is small and contained in the area where it started.

C. The fire department is being called.

D. You can fight the fire with your back to an exit.

_, CAUTION

1. To reduce risk of fire and to properly exhaust air, be sure to duct air

outside. Do not vent exhaust air into spaces within walls or ceilings

or into attics, crawl spaces, or garages.

2. Take care when using cleaning agents or detergents.

3. Avoid using food products that produce flames under the Range

Hood.

4. For general ventilating use only. Do not use to exhaust hazardous

or explosive materials and vapors.

5. To avoid motor bearing damage and noisy and/or unbalanced

impellers, keep drywall spray, construction dust, etc. off power unit.

6. Your hood motor has a thermal overload which will automatically

shut off the motor if it becomes overheated. The motor will restart

when it cools down. if the motor continues to shut off and restart,

have the hood serviced.

7. For best capture of cooking impurities, the bottom of the hood should

be a minimum of 24" and a maximum of 30" above the cooking

surface.

8. Two installers are recommended.

9. Use with approved cord-connection kit only.

10. Please read specification label on product for further information

and requirements.

INSTALL THE DUCTWORK

NOTE: To reduce the risk of fire, use only metal ductwork.

1. Decide where the ductwork will run between the hood and the

outside (Refer to Figure 1).

2. A straight, short duct run will allow the hood to perform most

efficiently.

3. Long duct runs, elbows, and transitions will reduce the performance

of the hood. Use as few of them as possible. Larger ducting may

be required for best performance with longer duct runs.

4. Install a roof or wall cap. Connect round metal ductwork to cap

and work back towards hood location. Use duct tape to seal the

joints between ductwork sections.

INSTALL THE HOOD

NOTE: the hood has to be installed, inside the cabinet, at minimum

1" from the rear wall cabinet and at 3" from the front wall cabinet.

The internal height of cabinet has to be minimum 16".

The hood should be mounted centered over the cook top burners.

1. Remove the grid by moving the 2 slide fasteners "A" forward (Fig.2).

2. Cuta hole in the bottom of the cabinet, using the dimensions shown

(Fig. 3).

3. Adjust the position of the clasping side spring by means of the

proper "B" screw according to the thickness of the bored panel to

which it is going to be anchored (Fig. 4).

4. NOTE: For installations where the Power Pack is less than 30"

above cook top, it is recommended that the Power Pack be

mounted into a metal liner or non-combustible material. This will

allow easier cleaning and provide protection to the cabinetry

(Fig.5A).

5. Insert the hood in the cabinet and lock it by means of the side

spring.

6. Insert the hood in the cabinet (Fig. 5) or metal liner (Fig. 5A) and

secure with the (4) "C" mounting sheet metal screws.

(For alternate mounting, use machine screws with washers and

nuts. This alternate mounting method needs to be done prior to

installation of metal liner).

7. In the Non-Ducted Recircutation Configuration, install the Non-

ducted recircutation Filter before replacing the grid (see section

"Non-ducted recircutation filter installation").

8. Replace the grid.

1. Take the damper and assemble it onto the hood's discharge

opening, pressing slightly.

2. Use 6" round metal duct to connect the discharge collar on the

hood to the ductwork above.

3. Use duct tape to make all joints secure and air tight.

Non-Ducted Recirculation Configuration

1. Connect a 6" round metal duct to the discharge opening so

that the air is sent outside the cabinet and sent back into the

room.

2. Use duct tape to make all joints secure and air tight.

INSTALLATION

1. Remove the metal wires (Fig. 9) and discard them.

2. Install the Non-ducted recircutation filter over the grease filter and

secure it with the metal wires supplied with the Non-ducted

recircutation Filter (Fig. 6).

Note: This range hood must be properly grounded.

The unit should be installed by a qualified electrician in accor=

dance with all applicable national and local electrical codes.

1. Remove the wiring box cover. Remove a knockout from the wiring

box.

2. Secure the conduit to the wiring box through a conduit connector.

3. Make electrical connections. Connect white to white, black to black

andgreentogreen.

Controls

The light switch turns the lamps on and off.

The blower switch: makes it possible to select the motor operating

speed. Position 0: motor off.

The pilot lamp lights up whenever the blower is on.

ALWAYS SWITCH OFF THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BEFORE

CARRYING OUT ANY OPERATIONS ON THE APPLIANCE.

Grease Filter

The grease filter should be cleaned frequently. Use a warm detergent

solution. Grease filter is dishwasher safe.

To remove the grease filter: remove the grid by moving the 2 slide

fasteners "A" (Fig. 2); remove the metal wires and then the grease

filter (Fig. 9).

Non-Ducted Recireulation Filter

The Non-Ducted Recircutation filter should be changed every 6

months.

To remove the Non-Ducted Recircutation filter:

1. Remove the grid by moving the 2 side fasteners "A" (Fig. 2).

2. Remove the metal wires (Fig. 6) and replace the Non-ducted

recircutation Filter.

Cleaning

Occasional care will help preserve its fine appearance.

• Clean with warm water and mild detergent only.

• Follow all cleaning by rinsing with clear water.

• Wipe dry with clean, soft cloth.

Light bulbs

This range hood requires two 40-Watt light bulbs (not included).

To change bulbs:

1. Remove the grid by moving the 2 slide fasteners (A).

2. Replace with light bulbs of the same type (MAX 40W, 120V,

Candelabra Base Bulb). CAUTION: BULB MAY BE HOT!

Broan-NuTone LLC warrants to the original consumer purchaser of its products that such products will be free from defects in

materials or workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original purchase. THERE ARE NO OTHER WARRANTIES,

EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR MERCHANT ABILITY OR FITNESS

FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

During this one-year period, Broan-NuTone LLC wilt, at its option, repair or replace, without charge, any product or part which is

found to be defective under normal use and service.

THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT EXTEND TO FLUORESCENT LAMP STARTERS, TUBES, HALOGEN AND INCANDESCENDT

BULBS. This warranty does not cover (a) normal maintenance and service or (b) any products or parts which have been subject

to misuse, negligence, accident, improper maintenance or repair (other than by Broan-NuTone LLC), faulty installation or installation

contrary to recommended installation instructions.

The duration of any implied warranty is limited to the one-year period as specified for the express warranty. Some states do not

allow limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

6. Le moteur de votre hotte a un thermostat qui 6teindra

automatiquement le moteur s'il est surchauff6. Le moteur se remettra

en marche Iorsqu'il se sera refroidi. Si le moteur continue _ts'6teindre

et & se remettre en marche, faites v6rifier votre hotte.

7. Pour mieux capturer les impuret6s de cuisine, le bas de votre hotte

devrait 6tre #. une distance minimum de 24" et _t une distance

maximum de 30" au-dessus du plan de cuisson.

8. Vu que cette hotte est grande et Iourde, il est recommand6 de confier

I'installation de cette hotte _tdeux personnes.

9. Utiliser uniquement avec un kit de connexion pour alimentation

homologu_.

10. Nous vous recommandons de lire 1'6tiquette indiquant les

caract6ristiques de votre hotte pour de plus amples informations et

exigences.

INSTALLATION DU SYSTEME

D'EVACUATION

REMARQUE: Pour r_duire les risques d'incendie, n'utilisez que des

tuyaux en rn_tal,

1. Decidez o_ le tuyau rond dolt 6tre installe, entre votre hotte et

I'ext@ieur (Ref. Figure 1).

2. Un tuyau droit et court permettra &votre hotte de fonctionner d'une

fagon plus efficace.

3. Un tuyau tong avec des coudes et des transitions reduira le bon

fonctionnement de votre hotte. En utiliser le moins possible. Pour

de Iongues utilisations, ilfaut un tuyau d'evacuation d'air ayant un

diametre plus large.

4. Installez un couvercle sur le toit ou au mur. Retiez un tuyau en

metal rond au couvercle et faites-le aller jusqu'& I'emptacement

de votre hotte. Rendez les jonctions du tuyau hermetiques au

moyen d'un ruban pour tuyaux.

La hotte dolt 6tre montee au milieu sur les feues du plan de cuisson.

1. Otez la grille en d@tagant les deux attaches lat@ales "A"

(Fig.2).

2. Decoupez un trou au fond du meubte en utilisant les

dimensions reportees dans la Fig. 3.

3. Reglez la position du ressort de fixation tat@al a I'aide de la vis

"B" correspondante et ce, en fonction de I'epaisseur du

panneau decoupe qui servira de support pour la fixation (Fig.4).

4. REMARQUE : Pour les installations oQle module de puissance

se trouve a moins de 30" au-dessus du plan de cuisson, il est

recommande de glisser ce dernier dans une envetoppe

metallique ou dans un corps incombustible. Cette precaution

facilitera le nettoyage et fournira une protection au meuble

(Fig.5A).

5. Encastrez la hotte dans le meuble et verrouitlez a I'aide du

ressort lat@al.

6. Placer la hotte dans le meuble (Fig. 5) ou dans la gaine en

metal (Fig. 5A) et ta fixer a I'aide (4) des vis "C" de montage

pour t6te.

(Pour un montage alternatif, utiliser des vis d'assembtage avec

des rondelles et des ecrous. Cette methode de montage alter-

native dolt 6tre faite avant l'installation de la gaine metallique).

7. Dans la configuration recyclant Fair, installez le fittre b.charbon

avant de reposer la grille (cf. paragraphe "Installation du fittre &

charbon").

8.Reposez la grille.

1. Prenez le clap_t et le monter sur la bouche de sortie d'air de la

hotte, en exergant une legere pression.

2. Reliez le collier d'_vacuatlon qui se trouve sur votre hotte au

systeme de conduction qui se trouve au-dessus au moyen d'un

tuyau rond en m_tal de 6".

3. Utilisez un ruban pour tuyauterie afin de rendre toutes les jonctions

sures et etanches.

1. Retiez la bouche d'evacuation de l'air & un tuyau fond en metal

de 6" de sorte que l'air soit convoye en dehors du placard murale

et renvoye dans la piece.

2. Utilisez un ruban pour tuyauterie afin de rendre toutes les jonctions

sures et etanches.

INSTALLATION DU FILTRE A CHARBON

1. Otez les ills metalliques (Fig. 9) et jetez-les.

2. Installez le fittre & charbon sur le filtre &graisse et assujettissez-

le au moyen des ills metalliques fournis avec le fittre & charbon

(Fig. 6).

1. Entevez le couvercle de laboite de connexion _lectrique. Ouvrez

un trou de la bofte de connexion etectrique.

2. Fixer le "conduit" au boftier de connexion & I'aide d'un

connecteur approprie pour ce "conduit".

3. Faites le raccordement electrique. Retiez le blanc au blanc, le noir

au noir et le vert au vert.

L'interrupteur de la lumiere allume et eteint les lampes.

L'interrupteur du moteur permet de selectionner la vitesse de

marche du moteur. Position 0: moteur eteint.

Le voyant lumineux s'allume quand le moteur fonctionne.

Filtre a graisse

Le filtre & graJsse devra _tre frequemment nettoye. Utilisez une

solution detergente chaude. Le filtre a graisse peut _tre lave en

machine.

Pour enlever le filtre a graisse 6tez la grille en enlevant tes 2

attaches laterales "A" (Fig. 2); entevez les ills metalliques puis

le fitre a graisse (Fig. 9).

Filtre # charbon

Le filtre & charbon devra 6tre change tousles 6 mois.

Pour 6ter le filtre & charbon:

1. Otez la grille en d@la(_ant les deux attaches laterales "A"

(Fig. 2).

2. Otez les ills metalliques (Fig. 6) et remplacez le filtre &

charbon.

Nettoyage

Un entretien ponctuel contribuera a preserver son aspect.

• Nettoyez a I'eau chaude en prenant soin d'utiliser un detergent

non agressif.

Faites suivre le nettoyage d'un rin(_age a I'eau claire.

Essuyez avec un chiffon propre et doux.

Ampoules

Ce type de hotte necessite deux ampoutes & 40 watt (non

comprises)

Pour changer les ampoules:

1. Otez la grille en enlevant les 2 attaches laterales (A).

2. Remplacez par des ampoules de m_me type (MAX 40W,

1.20V, Ampoutes Cutot). ATTENTION: L'AMPOULE PEUT

ETRE CHAUDE.
